What precautions do you still take?

Wondered whether many at this stage are still cautious (outside of official guidelines) even if not vulnerable

Does anyone still avoid certain places eg busy pubs or soft plays?
Keep windows open when visitors?

At this point everyone I know is a lot more relaxed and living life normally

I forgot. I do carry out LFTs before meeting friends and elderly relatives.

Linnet · 16/01/2022 23:07

I wear a mask as I’m in scotland and we have never stopped wearing them, I don’t mind wearing them at all. I use hand sanitiser and that’s it. I’ve never stopped going out for coffee, restaurants, pubs, meeting with friends.

gogohm · 16/01/2022 23:08

None, unless mandated by law of course. Had a great time dancing in the local pub to live music yesterday, not a mask in sight (staff don't wear them either around here)

delilahbucket · 16/01/2022 23:09

Windows open at work when I'm not on my own and masks when I've been a close contact, although I don't have to.
I've had a runny nose this week, repeatedly tested negative, but have still avoided people and did a doorstep visit to see my dad rather than going inside. I'm not concerned about catching Omicron, more about passing it on to vulnerable people in my life, although I certainly couldn't afford to isolate as no work = no pay for us self employed. That said, my elderly neighbour passed away this week from a cold. He avoided Covid all this time, and a cold got him.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 16/01/2022 23:10

I wear a mask on the tube and wherever else I'm asked to do so (including sometimes at work). Other than that not much tbh.

TinaYouFatLard · 16/01/2022 23:15

None at all.

Callcat · 16/01/2022 23:18

None whatsoever.

Sheabutterisdelish · 16/01/2022 23:19

Just a mask if it have to.

MmeD · 16/01/2022 23:19

Masks in shops and on public transport. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to washing my hands for less than two rounds of Happy Birthday.

LFTs before going into the office, cos we’re told to.

Nothing else.

EasterIssland · 16/01/2022 23:19

Masks in shops or transport.
Apart from that nothing else

starlight13 · 16/01/2022 23:24

Just a mask in shops. Social distancing and a mask is all I have ever done with covid. I have always washed hands and carried sanitiser with me pre covid.

PhilCornwall1 · 16/01/2022 23:29

I'm CEV and I haven't taken any precautions for a long time now.

DoubleShotEspresso · 16/01/2022 23:35

Masks
WFH
Totally managed to avoid public transport so far thankfully
Very limited contacts for now
Still not doing busy shops, restaurants or inside activities
Can count on one hand the number of visitors we have had inside our home
It's exhausting at the point, but having 1 x DC classed as vulnerable and now 2 x elderly parents who are both dependent on me and CEV nit much choice .

N4ish · 16/01/2022 23:37

None except things I have no choice over such as masks on public transport and being forced to WFH this month.

narcdad · 16/01/2022 23:39

None, I don't wear masks either, I've always been a frequent hand washer and that still remains.

Bbq1 · 16/01/2022 23:48

I know multiple people who have had it twice including children. I have a colleague who now has it a third time. Probably lowers your chances a fair bit once you've had it but it is still fairly easy to get it again.

sarah20212021 · 16/01/2022 23:52

@Middleagedfemaleangst

I hand sanitise a bit more than I used to, and do a 20 second hand wash every time, that’s it.
Always good to have clean hands - but it's been proven for some time now that covid is spread by air not surfaces so I'm wondering why so many are still focused on hands?
BluebellsGreenbells · 16/01/2022 23:56

Because we eat with our hands?
Kids aren’t that clean so leave a mess.
It’s good hygiene practice.

Would be good to know if all this hand washing has made a difference to other winter illness rates.

languagelover96 · 16/01/2022 23:59

I still don a face mask for church service each week. When going into shops I like to have one in my bag or pocket in case.

MyNinja · 17/01/2022 00:05

How do people feel about shaking hands? Someone tried to shake hands with me last week and I felt terribly put on the spot.

caringcarer · 17/01/2022 00:09

Wear a mask when leave the house. Sit away from others in public place. Hand gunk on 3 or 4 times a day. Hand washing every 2 hours even if I don't go out. Every day I spray door handles, light switches and toilet flushes throughout house with anti viral spray and wipe over. I get cleaner to do it by too on days she cleans house. I also get DS and DFS to wash hands the moment they gets home from school/work and Change their clothing too. It has paid off as neither me or DH, DS or DFS has had Covid. We each test twice a week and do temp gun daily. DH CEV and WFH.

LuckyMeISeeGhosts · 17/01/2022 00:57

Nothing at all.

JugglingJanuary · 17/01/2022 01:02

@HermioneWeasley

None. I’m not worried about catching a cold.
It's not compulsory to make yourself look stupid.
EmmaGrundyForPM · 17/01/2022 01:05

I do what's legally required, so wear a mask in shops etc. But nothing else.

I've got my book group this week send we're doing it on Zoom. I would much rather meet in person but a few members are still reluctant.

BobBobbity · 17/01/2022 01:14

Choosing not to do too much indoor stuff (no soft play etc). Wear masks in places it’s not mandatory (eg at a crowded outdoor market).

I still have lung problems from my first run-in with covid in 2020 so I’m cautious.
