Wondered whether many at this stage are still cautious (outside of official guidelines) even if not vulnerable

Does anyone still avoid certain places eg busy pubs or soft plays?
Keep windows open when visitors?

At this point everyone I know is a lot more relaxed and living life normally

None.

Katie517 · 16/01/2022 22:28

Masks and only because we “have” to and if they don’t scrap them at the end of Jan with the other plan B measures I will be stopping wearing one anyway. I am sick of my baby staring at my masked face when we are out and about, I want my expressions to be seen and for them to observe me speaking and hear me properly. We are going to have children who think masked faces are normal and they aren’t, they need to go.

Workin8til6 · 16/01/2022 22:31

Me and my friends do LFTs before we see each other. Me and DH are mainly WFH but that’s company policy. Eldest daughter was due to start preschool but we have delayed by a term because cases are so high. We tend to avoid busy restaurants or pubs, don’t sit inside if we go somewhere for a coffee. So I guess we are still being pretty cautious.

This is mainly because DFIL is having chemo and we want to be able to still see him regularly without being too worried about passing it on although we still do LFTs beforehand anyway. But I’m also a bit worried about youngest DD, she is under 1 and we think she may be asthmatic, and she is obviously not vaccinated or anything. She still seems quite small and vulnerable.

I have windows open at home if workmen are in

Masks where required, and I did this before they are mandatory

Only meet up to eat outdoors

AnxiousHeffalump · 16/01/2022 22:36

I wear a mask in shops, and wash my hands when I get home. I use hand sanitizer regularly in work, but I did that anyway because I work in a school and they are filthy places! I do a lft twice a week because I have to for work.

Chloemol · 16/01/2022 22:36

And I do LFT if I have to go to work meetings, or large meet up with family

Chloemol · 16/01/2022 22:36

@southeastdweller

None at all. I've had it and all good now.
You do realise you can get it more than once

And you can still pass it on

NannaMcPhoo · 16/01/2022 22:38

I have stopped using the steam room at the gym.

Nothing else

NannaMcPhoo · 16/01/2022 22:38

You do realise you can get it more than once

Kinda guessing they did not die and are not worried about getting it again.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/01/2022 22:39

None except a mask. But only because it's compulsory.

ImInStealthMode · 16/01/2022 22:39

None except the legal requirements.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 16/01/2022 22:39

WFH
FFP2 mask
All shopping online
Mix with 2 people only, both do LFT and have had covid recently
Hospital appointments all telephone ones
Have a priority PCR test so I can start treatment if I do get covid

All the fun(!)

southeastdweller · 16/01/2022 22:42

You do realise you can get it more than once. And you can still pass it on.

Yes, I'm aware.

littlepetit · 16/01/2022 22:45

Those who are still avoiding indoor places like restaurants and other measures is it because you are CEV or living/visiting someone regularly who is CEV?

OP posts:
BluebellsGreenbells · 16/01/2022 22:47

None really.

Still sanitize hands, masks aren’t compulsory, LFT twice a week for work or 7 days as known close contact or case at home,

DH has to WFH if there’s a known case at home.

Kids to LFT twice a week and wear mask on the bus, but not in school. They still meet up in large groups. Most of their friends have had the virus recently but mine haven’t caught it off them.

Temperature checks prior to seeing a dentist or doctor. Must wear a mask in hospital or medical settings.

Everyone I know is living a normal loft bar one or two still not been infected and still worried about case numbers and hospital admissions -

We have been free of any ‘laws’ for Covid restrictions for 9 months and while cases are rising the hospital admissions aren’t.

No one isolates as close contacts vaccinated or not, no one is barred from any gatherings and no proof of vaccine for LFT is required. Large gathering happen, but mostly young people attend anyway!! As it should be. We don’t log LFT unless positive, which gives you payment from work or claim via the government for payment.

Life is normal.

EileenGC · 16/01/2022 22:47

People who listed ‘I wash my hands when I get home’ as a precaution… did you not wash your hands when you got home before Covid!?

Footnote · 16/01/2022 22:48

Masks, social distancing, meeting people outside, not travelling outside our town. I’m happy to contribute in these ways, as well as by being vaccinated. I’m not afraid of catching it at all, nor of family catching it, I just find that I can take these measures without feeling unhappy or hard done by so I may as well do so. I haven’t caught it yet, nor have I ever been a contact of a person who tested positive. We had the first ever case in one of my children’s classes this week, so I thought we would finally catch it, but it doesn’t seem to have been passed on within the class at all.

shoofly · 16/01/2022 22:49

Masks and hand sanitise. Mostly WFH, Lfts a few times a week. Avoid crowds (but I've never felt comfortable in very crowded spaces anyway. Covid pass to go into restaurants anyway.
Jabbed and boosted and haven't had it yet AFAIK. Hoping it stays that way as I know a few people who've been very unwell and a few with long covid, and a (sort of) work colleague who died leaving behind 2 kids (he was unvaccinated, in his 40s)
Obviously know quite a few who've had it and it was no big deal either but I'm overweight and over 50 so still want to avoid

Lolamento · 16/01/2022 22:49

Masks, hand gel and common sense.

MrsSkylerWhite · 16/01/2022 22:51

Limit contacts with testing before meetings, FFP3 mask in all indoor settings, good diet/vitamin D supplements and frequent sanitising.

So far, so good.

Overthebow · 16/01/2022 22:54

None, not worried about it anymore and just living my life as normal.

user1471443411 · 16/01/2022 22:57

Just the masks - at work and in places where I have to.

MarshmallowFondant · 16/01/2022 22:59

None.

No LFTs, masks when legally mandated only. Don;t have the app, don't limit myself going places or seeing people, and don't stop my kids doing things either.

Have had all my vaccines.

NewYearEveryYear · 16/01/2022 23:01

Masks as required.

I tend to avoid restaurants that I know will be crammed or airless.

I probably wouldn't go to the cinema or theatre right now.

But everything else is normal (flying for work, stopping for coffee, visiting friends and family).

YesThisIsMe · 16/01/2022 23:02

Masks as a courtesy to others in enclosed spaces.
LFTs once a week.
Other than that nothing unless I'm expecting to be meeting up with vulnerable relatives or doing something important which would be kiboshed by a positive test, in which case I'll avoid indoor contact with others for the previous week.
