Track and trace just called as my son had positive lft then pcr on 3rd. I tested positive on 27.12,I've not had texts and emails from track and trace saying I've been identified as a contact of a positive case and so I need to isolate for 10 days, that isn't right is it? If he likely caught it from me anyway,my isolation is due to end on 6th,his day 10 is 13th

dementedpixie · 05/01/2022 12:17

If you're still isolating as a positive case then your isolation ends after the original 10 days and doesnt get extended by your ds testing positive within that 10 day period

Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 12:20

So I ignore track and trace and i can leave the house after my 10 days,I'm desperate to get out even to just walk the dog

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 05/01/2022 12:34

I'd ignore them if they're giving incorrect info.
Did you give them your details when you tested positive?

Are you in England where close contacts wouldn't need to isolate if vaccinated?

Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 12:36

Yes I have the covid 19 app since my own positive, I am in England not sure why you assume I'm double jabbed, I am not

OP posts:
jerometheturnipking · 05/01/2022 12:39

It's not an unreasonable assumption given the vast majority of adults in the UK are double jabbed, if not boosted.

dementedpixie · 05/01/2022 12:40

I just assumed as most people are vaccinated.

You are lucky you are still within your own isolation period as if you had finished your 10 days and then he tested positive then you'd need to isolate again

P.s. in Scotland household contacts have to isolate for 10 days regardless of vaccination status

I'm not asking about the app but whether you gave details to test and trace when you tested positive (the app is not T&T)
asblackasyoursoul · 05/01/2022 12:49

I’m having the exact same issue right now.
I tested positive 27th December, out of isolation tomorrow 6th January.
Partner tested positive 29th December and out of isolation 8th January.

However he only received his results a few days ago. As a result I was texted by Test&Protect (Scotland) saying I had to isolate until the 13th January.

Surely this can’t be right if my partner is out of isolation on the 8th? Just been on the phone to my work who say that yes I do have to continue isolating. I don’t understand at all!

dementedpixie · 05/01/2022 12:52

You go by your own 10 day isolation period and he completes his. Your isolation isn't extended by his positive test as he tested positive while you were isolating.

R0tational · 05/01/2022 12:55

I wouldnt have told work @asblackasyoursoulsblack

www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/coronavirus-covid-19/test-and-protect/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-infection says:

You do not need to re-start self-isolation if someone else you live with tests positive during your 10 day self-isolation

Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 13:12

Track and trace havent contacted me about my positive result, just about my sons, also the majority of people I know qrent double jabbed so your assumption about my vaccination status and people within my immediate community aren't the same as yours it seems

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 05/01/2022 13:15

Must be the people you mix with as the majority of people I know are at least double vaccinated if not triple. I gather you are a big group of anti-vaxxers then

Zippy1510 · 05/01/2022 13:17

70.6% of the UK population is double vaccinated. Not at all unusual to assume you wouldn’t be in the minority.

That's statistically unusual, when well over 80% are double jabbed the obvious assumption is that someone is

Do you and friends worry about the ICU stats on yesterday's press conference?

BarefootHippieChick · 05/01/2022 13:30

I don't see any poster assuming you're vaccinated, merely asking if you are as the rules are different. I only know 2 people who aren't vaccinated, so you're definitely in the minority. I think you just need to be aware that you could end up isolating several times over the next few weeks as this latest variant rips through if you keep coming into contact with positive cases.

Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 13:42

30% of the UK population is still a fair amount of people,I saw a comment on another thread saying omicron being dangerous to just 1% of UK population was still a lot of people

Half of those people are children, my stat assumes that you and your friends are adults. Apologies if that was another incorrect assumption.
Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 13:45

It's still a large amount of adults

Why are you harping on about this so much?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 05/01/2022 13:54

@Badassbreastfeeder85

It's still a large amount of adults
It is a large number but a small proportion when making a basic assumption which I think it what the original issue was.
Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 14:14

@VintageCookbook I'm only saying it in response to people saying that everyone is vaccinated,no they aren't

Nobody said that. They said that the vast majority of people are thank God.

CrocodilesCry · 05/01/2022 14:24

Really hope you stay well OP. Working in a school and not being fully vaccinated is risky at best.

Absolutely nobody said everyone was vaccinated.
The majority is, you can't argue with that
