How many days before Track & Trace called?

DD took a PCR test on new year's day. We got the positive result by email/text on Sunday (2nd Jan). So far, track and trace still haven't called. Does it matter? We're trying to figure out when they count day 1 from (first day of symptoms, or day after? Only symptom was 2 days of a mild sore throat) to work out when she can go back to school. Today's LFT was negative.

..just to add, the symptoms started o 29/12, but we were unable to book a slot for the PCR until 1st Jan.

They never called me.

L0uby1 · 04/01/2022 10:20

Called me the day after positive pcr. Had a pointless 5 minute conversation. Never called again! They never called dh.

bestbeforedateexpired · 04/01/2022 10:21

They sent me a text with a link to complete with dates of onset of symptoms and contact details. At the end of that they confirmed when my isolation would end.
This arrived the same day as the positive PCR notification.

tigerbear · 04/01/2022 10:21

T&T told me it was day symptoms started.

tigerbear · 04/01/2022 10:24

Oh, and they called the day after we got the positive PCR by text.

theneverendinglaundry · 04/01/2022 10:33

They send a link for adults and call for children, I think.

I didn't get a call for my DCs until 4 days after their positive result.

SmallestInTheClass · 04/01/2022 10:43

Called the day after positive PCR for DD. Email only for me. I don't think they call except for children, the guy on the phone told me that.

Salamander91 · 04/01/2022 10:49

It was the same day for DS. They counted from when symptoms started.

AnyFucker · 04/01/2022 10:53

Got an email and text same day as positive test

Day 0 is counted from when symptoms started or if symptomatic from the day of the PCR.

So, day 1 is effectively the day after

AnyFucker · 04/01/2022 10:54

*asymptomatic

Summerofcontent · 04/01/2022 10:58

I haven't heard anything

MoistTowelette · 04/01/2022 11:01

Within hours of receiving a positive result for DD2. They didn't call at all for DD1 a month later.

Pinetreecone · 04/01/2022 11:05

I wouldn’t have thought Track and Trace can cope with the volume of positive cases now.

Downsize2021 · 04/01/2022 11:11

I'm Scotland but they never called me. I didn't put anyone as a contact as my husband got it , I isolated in our 1 bed flat and then got it four days later so it's pretty clear i got it from him! The bloody generic texts about the booster did my head in tho! I got at least 12!

BungleandGeorge · 04/01/2022 11:14

The countdown starts the day after symptoms started- that’s what it says on .gov website and has been that way since the start. The isolation period is complete days so the part day that your symptoms started doesn’t count

Lovelydovey · 04/01/2022 11:16

Both times the same day.

whataballbag · 04/01/2022 11:18

They called the day of results for DS2. Haven't called for DS1 and he got his results on the 2nd.

We were already isolating because of DS2 positive results though.

CrystalTits · 04/01/2022 11:20

Unless you’re expecting Royal Mail to ring you, it’s Test & Trace

DumpedByText · 04/01/2022 11:24

My friend and her family all had positive PCR's on 29th December they've not had one call from T&T. My other friend and her family all tested positive on 28th, they've also had no calls. We're in Wales and I don't think T&T can cope with the volume.

mummymummymummummum · 04/01/2022 11:27

Day 6 is today, so get a LTF test done tomorrow as well. If it's also negative she's freeeeeee 😁🤞🏻

shetlandskies · 04/01/2022 11:29

Within 4 hours of an early morning positive test - they called me so often I blocked them. Multiple calls every single day. I was so ill I couldn't speak to my family let alone track and trace.

SergeiL · 04/01/2022 11:31

So 29/12 is day 0. Counting from then, if she is negative today and tomorrow, she can stop isolating on 6th according to our school. But some would say 5th. Best check with the school. This is if you are in England.

Boohooyouho · 04/01/2022 11:35

My daughter had no symptoms but a positive lft on the 30/12 (taken as we were going to visit vulnerable relatives and both the adults in the house work outside the home). So that would be the first day of isolation, yes? If she tests negative tomorrow and Thursday she’s free so can go to school on Thursday?

Myusernameisunique · 04/01/2022 11:49

In Scotland your day 0 counts as the day before your symptoms started if symptomatic if asymptomatic day 0 is the day you had your PCR test. I know this as I've just came out of a 20 day isolation from DC1 testing positive then DC2 testing positive on the day our first isolation was up. I was called by T&T both times on my mobile and landline more than once plus numerous texts and emails from them. It must just depend where you are.
