How long are results currently taking for PCRs?

Had one at 10:30am today - just wondering when I might get the result, I know it could be delayed due to NY&bank hols :)

My ds is still waiting for his which he had on Tuesday morning. The help line says nothing will be chased up until 96 hours after the test. When I rang today the call centre was closed! The delay makes it very difficult.

Thank you for your reply! I wont hold my breath for a quick turnaround then 🙈

My DH rang the helpline as he hasn't heard and due to go to his booster and it's a recorded message saying they are now closed and says their hours are 7am to 11pm!!

dementedpixie · 01/01/2022 18:28

The 4 if us went for PCRs on Thursday and 3 of us got results back today. Dh's aren't back yet and he's the one that had the positive LFT

SoapyChoc · 01/01/2022 18:28

I had one Thursday 8am, results Friday 10am

Northernsoullover · 01/01/2022 18:29

Had one at 8.30 on Thursday morning and had the results by 6am on Friday

RAOK · 01/01/2022 18:30

PinkButtercups · 01/01/2022 18:32

DP had one Thursday and for the result this morning. DS had his yesterday so expecting his tomorrow. I'm booked in for a PCR tomorrow and they've said the turn around in our area is 48 hours,

PinkiePonk · 01/01/2022 18:48

I'm in the same boat as you @PinkiePonk - test at 10am this morning. Did you do drive through? I did and was told 1-2 days by the guy collecting samples.

I scanned through a recent MN thread asking this question and it seemed drive through were getting results back in 20-48 hours, postal longer.

HighlandCowbag · 01/01/2022 19:00

I tested at 12am 30th, got results back yesterday at 7pm. Happy New Year to me ffs.

CraftyGin · 01/01/2022 19:02

My DIL had her PCR at noon one day (I think the 27th), and got her results overnight, so around 15 hours.

TheCaddieisaBaddie · 01/01/2022 19:06

DD had her results within 3 hours - yes, hours!! She went in one Porta cabin and there was another Porta cabin behind in which they were processing the swabs. They need to replicate this everywhere.

chocolateisavegetable · 01/01/2022 19:25

Posted ours on Thursday - got results on Friday (yesterday). One of us had the result around 6 in the morning - the other 2 came through about 6 in the evening. They were all posted together and all negative, so not sure why the timings were so different!

G123454321 · 01/01/2022 19:28

How is everyone getting pcr appts? Tried multiple times over 3 days to be told no sites currently available. Going to have to order a postal one which will be useless as by the time I get it and send it back I will have done 10 days at home!

dementedpixie · 01/01/2022 19:31

It says there's sites available just now

dementedpixie · 01/01/2022 19:31

@dementedpixie

But no home tests

I went to a walk in site - they said it should be within 48 hours but could be longer due to the amount of testing happening/bank hols etc!

Shockwow! That is incredibly efficient!

Tested 10am Thursday at a drive through in south east London, negative result 7am Friday.

I ordered LTFs for home delivery this morning at 7.30. Over the last two weeks I’ve found early morning is the best time to order.

northender · 02/01/2022 00:23

Blimey, this thread has really pissed me off even more haha! I just assumed it was taking so long because of Christmas etc but to hear of most of you getting results quickly grrrrrrrr! So we are now 5 days on since Ds' test. I will try to contact them again tomorrow

BeyondShrinks · 02/01/2022 01:04

I did one on the 23rd, then developed symptoms and did a second on the 31st. Both results came back within half hour of one another on the 1st.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 02/01/2022 02:23

I had a test 2 weeks ago and still no result. 119 weren’t much use, just said it must have got lost 🙄. Obviously won’t be getting the result now

ItsLoisSangersFault · 02/01/2022 12:30

Any news @PinkiePonk? I just got a negative result back after testing at 10am yesterday.

LittleMissA · 02/01/2022 12:37

We had one on Thursday around 4.30pm and got the result Friday lunchtime ish so less than 24hrs.
