Hi I went for a pcr test yesterday having had a positive lateral flow test. Being lucky enough never to have had either before, please could someone tell me if this is my pcr result or a follow on to my reporting the positive lateral flow? Thank you for your help.

Yes, that's your PCR result. You should also get an email.

Your lateral flow message would have arrived very quickly after you reported it.

But when I’ve done a lateral flow or PCR it refers to them specifically I.e your recent “PCR” or “lateral flow”

Mine specifically says PCR test.

It looks like it's probably from the PCR. When you register a LFT, the text / email normally comes through within a minute or two.

Did you report the positive lateral flow? I've never done that but when my DC have had positive PCRs that is the text we have had so I think so. You should get an email too. Sorry OP it's rubbish. Hope you're not feeling too bad.

No! We had this. That's your lateral flow, that they're confirming you submitted as positive. The PCR one says PCR. Our ones like yours above arrived 24hrs after we logged our lateral flows, then a few hours later we got negative PCR messages. We were really confused, as we thought the message you got WAS the PCR result.

So you could yet be negative...

Yes-the code to enter in to the app gives it away.

As above, that's from the LFT, I was confused by this too and thought I was positive for a while until I properly read it and spent some time googling.

Ignore me, just checked and my lft positive had a code too.

I think that is from where you have put the LFT results into the app.

PCR results say PCR on them.

That's the Lateral Flow response. I've seen hundreds of them through work - the PCR notification is different (seen many of those, too).

That looks like the notification for a poster LFT result. This was my PCR result and it states PCR or other LAB test.

I dunno if this helps but in my experience...

When I do LFTs & I report them, within a couple of minutes I get a text saying
'Your coronavirus lateral flow test is negative'

I did a PCR last week & when my results arrived the text said
'Your coronavirus PCR (or other lab test) is negative'

Both text messages are from an account called NHSResult.
I logged the LFT on www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
I arranged the PCR via www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

My PCR result was put on my medical records (seen via the NHS App) within 24hrs of my receiving the results.

I can also confirm it's definitely your LFT not your PCR. This happened to me, I received this the morning after my PCR (having registered a positive looking LFT the previous morning). So I assumed it was the PCR result. Told people (including my employer) I had covid. Then a few hours later, got a negative PCR result through. Was so confused and felt like a right dick. It's a stupid and badly worded text for them to send (I did point this out to 119 when I called them to confirm situation) and understandably confuses people. A PCR result text always says 'your recent PCR test was positive/negative'. Fingers crossed for you!

I've had these where it doesn't mention LFT/ PCR - checking back through my texts and the codes it seems to be a follow-up for the positive LFT I've logged from the day before as it's the same code as my LFT but not the same as my positive PCR and comes through about 24 hours after logging the LFT.

I've been testing positive on Day 6/7 LFTs and logging those and I've got these follow up texts now as well (which is really annoying as I'm not about to log those in the app as presumably my self-isolation time will extend).

Why would your self isolation change? If you still test positive on day 10 you can leave self isolation regardless.

Yes, I know that, but I don't want the app telling me that I can't! The system clearly isn't set up for this yet as when I have logged our positive Day 6+ results I get told to book a PCR/ self-isolate/ etc etc

Don't be fooled this is for lateral flow... mine came through one hour before my PCR result saying positive I thought I was until the PCR specific one came back negative. Very confusing but caused by a delay I guess.
