These are bookable from tomorrow. Does this mean from midnight tonight ? Really want to get a slot booked before New Year

It was available yesterday…. Try now!

Sevensilverrings · 19/12/2021 14:50

Booked our teen yesterday…no slots until near end of January here though…he might get it at school before that, whichever is first.

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 19/12/2021 14:52

Booked ours on Friday - only because someone told me they'd seen it was available to book. They definitely originally said it would only be bookable from tomorrow.

Hamjamwich · 19/12/2021 14:57

NHS covid vaccination website isn't open to under 16 at the moment

Definitely already possible to book. I have booked one for my 14 yr old

Thethingswedoforlove · 19/12/2021 14:58

@Hamjamwich it says it isn’t but it is. Try it!

toobusytothink · 19/12/2021 14:59

Thank you!! Just managed to book my 14 yo dd’s and got a slot for Thursday

CrumblyCrimble · 19/12/2021 14:59

Can you share a link? I looked on nhs website and seems to say 12+ only bookable if vulnerable or living with vulnerable. Thanks
Thethingswedoforlove · 19/12/2021 15:01

You have to ignore what it says and just press on through the 12-15 yr old bit. It might depend when they had their first jab? It might not permit booking th second until a certain number of weeks after first maybe but my dd had her first on 20 Oct and yest eve it let me book her second for mid January even though the words on the website suggest I wouldn’t be able to.

gogohm · 19/12/2021 15:02

They are doing walk ins at my local surgery for our town, worth looking on local Facebook groups

UntamedShrew · 19/12/2021 15:03

I might wait and see if the schools are opening in Jan first. I don’t know, just seems pointless if we are heading into lockdown? Would rather they are more protected when things start to open up again. If no lockdown obviously I’ll do them all straight away.

Thethingswedoforlove · 19/12/2021 15:04

@CrumblyCrimble I just went to book my appointment and put her details in and it let me book we an appt even though the text for 12-15 yr olds suggests it won’t be possible

brokenhairband · 19/12/2021 15:05

Definitely bookable, just fill in their details. I booked my 13 year old a few days ago. Just go to “book a dose”. The reason it will give you Jan dates is that they can’t book until 12 weeks after their first. So for most, that’s mid to late Jan.

Hamjamwich · 19/12/2021 15:07

Just tried to book and nearest is 22 miles from Sheffield. That's a £86 return in an Uber 😆🤦

Just to add, he's over 12 weeks now.

I've juts looked for ds. Nearest is 15 miles away and no appointments until end of January, even though he's due end of December (CV). Will talk to the GP.

Hamjamwich · 19/12/2021 15:16

We have a vaccine hub at our local (large city) hospital with Pfizer.. So why try to send us so far? I've no car so no way to get there

OP posts:
Hamjamwich · 19/12/2021 15:17

@MargaretThursday yes definitely ring GP. They may be able to vaccinate at the surgery

Our nearest is currently 35 miles away and is a five hour round trip by public transport. I would hope more sites will come online in the next week or so but my area was very slow off the mark last time.
Hamjamwich · 19/12/2021 16:58

Nearest one miles away

OP posts:
samsonthecat · 19/12/2021 17:18

I’ve tried to book for DD but it only has slots available over 30 miles away. There is a vaccination hub in our town so I’m going to wait and hopefully they will open slots there soon.

Underhisi · 19/12/2021 18:28

"I've juts looked for ds. Nearest is 15 miles away and no appointments until end of January, even though he's due end of December (CV). Will talk to the GP."

Ds is also coming up as needing to wait another 4 weeks. I think it must be 12 weeks for everyone on this system.

Nearest is somewhere 2 1/2 hour drive away.

Hamjamwich · 20/12/2021 14:59

Still nothing today. How's everyone else ? Mangaged to book yet ?

OP posts:
DorotheaDiamond · 20/12/2021 15:03

I booked about 20 miles away…decided it was better than not booking! Hopefully more centres will open and I can move it!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 20/12/2021 15:39

I can book 35 miles away. There are walk-ins nearer but he won't be at 12 weeks until mid Jan. I suppose we can just walk in at the time.
