Have been close contact with so many people over the year and not caught and now, now of all times!
I have to self isolate until 28th December. Wont be able to see my parents or my eldest son. So sick of it all. Anyone else care to join me in my misery?

That’s shitty. I totally get it OP, I was nervous about a PCR the other day -that was thankfully negative but How that will play out over the next few days is anyone’s guess. I can deal with the isolation to a degree but the not tasting and feeling crap I really wouldn’t want over Christmas.

Hopefully it’s very mild for you and you get to enjoy a ‘different’ kind of Christmas this year. You definitely won’t be the only one that’s for sure.

bananaandoears · 18/12/2021 15:41

It so rubbish isn't it. Dd and myself testing positive on lateral flow and awaiting pcr results but certain they will be positive. I had a cry this morning, feel so down

FilterFrog · 18/12/2021 15:48

So sorry op. How Rubbish.
This was me last year. The positive result pinged in as I was eating Christmas dinner (alone. Isolating).
I hope you’re able to catch up with your son and parents at another time soon.

Riv · 18/12/2021 15:50

I’m sorry to hear about your cancelled plans. It’s so unfair. I’m in a similar situation.
I have not had very much contact with anyone. Followed the regulations to the letter, and more. Virtually no indoor visits since March 2020 and still wear a mask outside and in shops etc. as does my DH.
I’ve seen our adult children twice each since Christmas 2019. Once was an overnight. Those were our only times with anyone else in the house, not even for a neighbourly cuppa. The other time was outside. They’re both single, live alone at opposite ends of the country. Both spent Christmas alone last year (DH and I spent it alone together). We’re all triple jabbed. All cautious.
We were all planning a two night visit to DD over Christmas. I was so unbelievably excited.
DD just phoned- she’s tested positive. Triple vaccines but her PCR is positive. She was pinged after an outside visit with a friend.
It’s another lonely Christmas for us all.

Neolara · 18/12/2021 15:57

Yup, that's us too. Ds got positive PCR yesterday so all Xmas plans have been abandoned. It's pants.

explodingeyes · 18/12/2021 16:00

We are stuck until Boxing Day due to positive kids

Porcupineintherough · 18/12/2021 16:01

This was us last year. Got the school pantomime on Monday so suspect it will be us this year, too. Ah well, hope you dont feel too bad. I know isolation sucks but I guess the main thing is it's not killing you.

LemonCake79 · 18/12/2021 16:04

That's sucks OP. I'm sorry. Sad

OverByYer · 18/12/2021 16:05

@riv that's awful, I really feel for you.

When will this all end?

Phatsia · 18/12/2021 16:06

My youngest son tested positive this morning on lft, awaiting pcr. Hoping we don't catch it but don't fancy my chances :/

Grumpysister · 18/12/2021 16:10

Yup - DS and I both positive yesterday. I’m sure the other two will get it in succession, lengthening our isolation period even more. DH already had important treatment put off until after Christmas because he tested positive just over a week ago. Sad
Only positive is we both feel ok - so it could be worse.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/12/2021 16:15

DH and I both tested positive, I will be out of isolation on 24th December. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the DC keep testing negative .

MotherQueenXeno · 18/12/2021 16:19

Same tested positive today and feel like utter shit. Was so looking forward to seeing family too.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 18/12/2021 16:23

It’s rubbish. Dd finished isolating on 22 and dh on 24 so I’m just waiting to get it between now and Christmas which will mean we’ve isolated for 3 weeks over Christmas and all my annual leave that I so desperately needed. I know I can go out right now but not as a family. Oh and we’re supposed to be in America with family so all in all I’m not feeling the Christmas spirit. Trying to fake it for dc but I’m so sick of it all.

Sparkle275 · 18/12/2021 16:26

So sorry to hear this. It's awful and unfortunately it will/has happened to a lot of people. Hopefully you will still be able to enjoy the day and maybe arrange another Christmas Day celebration after your isolation has finished. Hope your feeling ok.

OliveTree75 · 18/12/2021 16:34

That's rubbish op. Hope you feel okay. I found out I'm a close contact this morning so feel a bit on edge. X

Riv · 18/12/2021 16:53

Thinking of you all. It’s just awful. Just want to lock myself away, see no one and forget about the world. But that wouldn’t be much different to the way I have lived since March 2020.

soyabean · 18/12/2021 17:01

Commiserations. Me too. And I live on my own so it’s really shit.

babbi · 18/12/2021 17:04

All positive here too but as long as my mother ( admitted to hospital and extremely poorly ) pulls through ..
I don’t give too hoots about Xmas .

Best of health to you all

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/12/2021 17:06

Me too. Positive LFT this morning. Had done an postal PCR and sent off yesterday but assume will now come back positive. Am now upstairs in a room trying not to infect anyone else. Gutted.

Porcupineintherough · 18/12/2021 17:16

Ah babbi I'm sorry to hear that. Hope she pulls through. Flowers

OverByYer · 18/12/2021 17:41

Sympathies to all of you. Luckily have done all my present shopping , will have to get stuff in now for dinner. I’m planning on doing a nice family lunch on New Years Day now. FU Covid

Oldest DD started symptoms on Tuesday. Positive PCR Wednesday but last day of isolation would be Christmas Eve so not so bad. Now youngest DD has symptoms so waiting her PCR so now we're fucked and that doesn't even include me or DP getting it.

I've cancelled relatives on both sides. DP family were also going to take DDs away for a few days after Christmas and I was looking forward to time alone. NO SUCH LUCK ☹️

EdinaMonsoon · 18/12/2021 19:28

@babbi I'm so sorry to hear that your mum has been hospitalised. Hopefully she'll start to recover soon with the treatment she needs.

For all of you with positive results, I hope you manage to get through it with as few/mild symptoms as possible and that you can at least salvage something of Christmas with your immediate families/household.

Spacecadetagain · 18/12/2021 19:32

Dd(11) tested positive on an LFT on Tuesday followed by positive PCR this morning. She’s out of isolation on Christmas Eve but it seems given that the rest of us will get it as she was sneezing all over the place before her LFT !
