Anyone caught covid twice? Is that possible?

Had it in September and now I have a feeling I might have it again. I’m waiting for test.

I thought it was impossible to get it twice? Symptoms aren’t as bad as last time but apparently omicron has more mild symptoms.

Yes it’s possible. Someone I know has just tested positive, she also had it in September. She’s double jabbed too.

ANameChangeAgain · 16/12/2021 20:55

Its possible, didn't one of the British Olympic team catch it twice?

Babyroobs · 16/12/2021 20:56

My 22 year old DS has had it twice, both confirmed by PCR tests.

cherin · 16/12/2021 20:56

My colleague is down for the 3rd time. This is omicron.

With delta it was rare to get it twice but still possible. I know lots of clinicians who have had it multiple times (usually less severe second time round).

With omicron, which is more immune evasive, research is ongoing to see if that drastically increases your chances of reinfection.

ANameChangeAgain · 16/12/2021 20:57

Just checked, it was Tom Dean.

MonsterChopz · 16/12/2021 20:57

You can get it twice. It's unusual to get it rltwice in the space of a few months but I'm sure I read that with omicron yiu can even get it at the same time as delta.

Whenwillthewashingend · 16/12/2021 20:57

My Sister had it really bad last year. She has bad asthma, and if she hadn't been on medication before, it would have been even worse. She was very scared for a while.
She got it again August this year, double jabbed, but said it was just like a bit of a cold the 2nd time.
Both times confirmed with a pcr.

natrew · 16/12/2021 20:58

I'm a teacher. We have several children who had positive PCRs in the summer term or the start of autumn who have tested positive in the last week.

ZenNudist · 16/12/2021 21:00

Yes I know someone on their second bout. Unfortunately.

kimlo · 16/12/2021 21:00

I've just heard of someone I know testing positive for the second time today.

NameChange74567 · 16/12/2021 21:13

Dh tested positive twice.

crosbystillsandmash · 16/12/2021 21:18

At my school some poor folk are being hit a 3rd time!!

Elizabeth110100 · 16/12/2021 21:19

I'm a teacher and I currently have it for the second time. I had it the first time a year ago.

RonaCoaster · 16/12/2021 21:19

I’ve tested positive twice. I was double jabbed too the second time, first time was before vaccination was available. Anecdotally I’ve been hearing about a lot of re infections lately, mostly properly confirmed by pcr both times so not ‘I had a cough in December 2019 which was definitely covid’.

Bobholll · 16/12/2021 21:49

I’ve had it twice. Once last December & again this October. It’ll be different variants, Delta didn’t exist last December but I almost certainly had Delta in October!

It’s a complete myth you can’t get it twice. A mum at school has had it 3 times this year 😱 March, August & late October .. 😵‍💫 the doctor did tell her she was a very rare case!

Receptionclass · 16/12/2021 21:54

Yes loads of people have, including me.

5thHelena · 16/12/2021 21:55

My daughter had it twice. Loss of taste and smell both times.

Thewiseoneincognito · 16/12/2021 21:57

Awaiting PCR results and had it earlier in year.

Omicron reinfects with ease it would seem.

lightand · 16/12/2021 22:01

I know of a group of people who share a flat. They all went down with it, and all went down with it a 2nd time as well, about 9 months apart.
Dont know anyone else who has had it twice.

At the same time ? Is this very dangerous ?
Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 16/12/2021 22:13

I know several teachers who have caught it twice

Cocopogo · 16/12/2021 22:15

Yes me, just over a year ago since the last time. DC had it in September (return to school) and I didn’t catch it then but I have it now, I’m guessing it’s omicron and that’s why.

IWannaWishYouANutNutsChristmas · 16/12/2021 22:16

They track reinfections in Denmark.

They've had a lot more of them lately.

hivemindneeded · 16/12/2021 22:19

A few friends of mine have had it more than once. Some friends three times. Our family has yet to catch it afaik. If we have, we're symptomless.
