Faint positive LFT

pageylea · 16/12/2021 17:36

Faint positive LFT? Definitely a line, but very faint ! have had about 5 of these yesterday and today. Has anyone tested positive with PCR after a faint line LFT?

Of course lots of people have. A faint line still means positive. You must go and take a PCR.

Iamanicepersonreally · 16/12/2021 17:43

Why are you doing 5 tests? No wonder there's a shortage

the80sweregreat · 16/12/2021 17:45

Try to book a pcr !

This! Confused
lorisparkle · 16/12/2021 17:56

All my ds and I had very faint LFTs and positive PCRs. We ordered a PCR after the first positive LFT. Mine was so faint it could only be seen in a particular light

vera99 · 16/12/2021 17:57

I had one today booked a pcr and did a local walk in within an hour.

Faint positive LFT

Just like on the TTC boards, a line is a line is a line. No need for wasting tests in the hope it will be different.

PrettyCherryBlossom · 16/12/2021 17:58

I had daily positive lfts over four days but two negative pcrs in the same timeframe.

LadyFuschia · 16/12/2021 17:59

My husband has had a negative PCR after several tests both clear & with faint lines but we think it might be because he still has long Covid? It happened again back in the summer. No evidence for this though. Bit of a pain!!

5 tests on this thread and 6 taken on another thread.... just why?!

Flaxmeadow · 16/12/2021 18:23

As others say. Even a very faint line is a positive

pageylea · 16/12/2021 18:23

Because they were very faint.. and there has been so much speculation about them giving false results 🙄

There’s no need to repeat a test with a faint line. You need to book a pcr.

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 16/12/2021 18:26

Yes dd did.

Two of our family had very faint positive LFT followed by a positive PCR.

pageylea · 16/12/2021 18:30

@Lokdok

How bloody stupid. Do one lateral flow test and then one PCR test if there's even a hint of a line. It's not hard. FFS. And yes, there is a national shortage, because of idiots like this!
thank you for your kind words.

That's 4 tests you didn't need

MsChatterbox · 16/12/2021 18:39

Sorry OP mine was so faint no one else could see it but positive PCR 😩

ExPatHereForAChat · 16/12/2021 18:46

There is a shortage. We can't get them online or from any local pharmacies (West London).
A faint line is a positive. I understand the need to repeat once if you have no symptoms and weren't expecting a positive , but why more than once?!

SofiaMichElf · 19/12/2021 12:38

It's well reported that there very much IS a shortage.

Confused

And doing an extra 4 of them unnecessarily is ridiculous.

BeesRGood · 19/12/2021 12:40

There is no shortage of lateral flow tests, there are billions of them in warehouses. There's just been a bottleneck in delivering them. Not enough posties!

Here's why taking 5 can be a good idea:
