Did anyone else have a red bump and really sore arm after modena ?
Had mine yesterday and arm was a little tender almost straight away but nothing too bad
Hurt a lot in night and kept me awake a little , today it developed a red bump about 5 p size and hot to touch
I also feel a little blurghh but that may also be due to lack of sleep

My DH is having a reaction. Not at the site of jab but feeling terrible and has sweats. Like you he doesn't regret having it but he's really feeling rotten. He had Astrazeneca for his first two. Really hope you're feeling better soon Thanks

KaycePollard · 15/12/2021 15:51

I had a tender upper arm. Minor, very minor and so pleased to do anything to keep me and those around me safe.

The response was nothing like my body's response to a smallpox injection I had as a child.

Anyone under a certain age won't have had to have a smallpox vaccination- we had them so you don't have to.

worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 15:55

@KaycePollard like I said not regretting getting just wonder how long it may last
I had my vaccinations and my flu this year and nothing , my teenagers had theirs and again no reactions so maybe its just surprised me as I assumed this one would be ok too as never reacted to any vaccine before

@Bunnybooboob thank you

I had my Moderna booster Saturday afternoon, today has been the first reasonably normal day! Yesterday my upper arm was hot to touch but nothing visible, really. Though it was extremely sensitive to touch, kinda like a mastitis boob. Flu-like aches. Night sweats. Something weird with my toes, like I’d hurt myself- couldn’t flex properly. Glad to have had it, but after practically nothing for my two AZ it was a surprise!

otterlybonkers · 15/12/2021 16:04

love how these threads probably put a lot of potential people off having the jab who were previously undecided.

otterlybonkers · 15/12/2021 16:04

for what it's worth i had exact same symptoms with pfizer. Weird eh?

KatherineJaneway · 15/12/2021 16:06

I had a sore arm for about 36 hours, developed a bruise but no other reactions to it.

Joolsin · 15/12/2021 16:06

I had Moderna booster on Sat morning. Sat night my arm was super achey/bruised feeling and I slept really badly because my entire arm was boiling hot. No lumps or redness though. Took a few paracetamol Sun morning and fine since. My colleague who had Pfizer had a sore arm for a week.

Loyaultemelie · 15/12/2021 16:09

Yes I got mine yesterday too, I had a very sore arm last night and this morning, nausea and vomiting last night and a bit bleugh still. Like you no regrets at getting it because I've been unwell anyway and don't need Covid on top.

RobinPenguins · 15/12/2021 16:11

I don’t have a bump but oh my god my Moderna arm is so heavy and painful! I didn’t have this with my first two doses which were Pfizer. They did specifically warn me at the vaccination centre about potential for lumps and swollen lymph nodes in arm pits.

Dumpypumpy · 15/12/2021 16:13

Yes I had a sore red swollen lump about twice size of a 50p y lasted about 5 days after moderna booster , I didn’t feel anything like as poorly as I did after my AZ though thank god

nordica · 15/12/2021 16:15

Yep. It's really nothing new or surprising a vaccination can cause a localised reaction with redness and pain in the arm... happens with other vaccines too.
TheYearOfSmallThings · 15/12/2021 16:19

I had the Moderna booster (after 2 AZ), and I got a very achey arm for a couple of days, but nothing visible. I have actually not heard of anyone having the reaction you describe at the site of the injection.

RobinPenguins · 15/12/2021 16:25

I doubt it tbh. Most people are describing stuff like “bit of a sore arm”. If someone is still unvaccinated at this point it’s because they have bigger concerns than a sore arm or feeling fluey for a few days. If we were all coming on talking about our experience with myocarditis and blood clots you might have a point.
worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 16:25

@otterlybonkers why ? There quite mild affects and better to be prepared so maybe you have booster at a less busy time etc , you read the deaths and stories everyday of people dying of / with covid so of that doesn't encourage you why would a few mild symptoms discourage

OP posts:
KaycePollard · 15/12/2021 16:26

just wonder how long it may last

It's so minor - a slight tenderness for maybe 36 hours. Didn't stop me from doing anything. My shoulders hurt more today from DOMS from my gym work out on Monday.

worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 16:28

@nordica well i have never had this with other vaccines so asking
Why do people have to jump on something all the time
We can ask the question see if its considered a normal reAction , mines hot to touch too so was checking if others have the same
Be careful getting of that horse

OP posts:
worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 16:29

@KaycePollard mine has stopped me from doing some things as it hurts again as said better than getting covid badly but i thought I would react like others with nothing at all and my dad had his booster again no ill effects

OP posts:
worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 16:32

@Emmelina the mastitis description is about right thats how it feels to touch in my one experience of having that and same sort of blurghh feeling
I had mild case , didn't put me off breast feeding second time though of course As mild

fournonblondes · 15/12/2021 16:36

So can you choose your booster or they will give you any of the two?

dopenguinsdance · 15/12/2021 16:36

I haven't had any issues with AZ x2 or the flu jab, but I've had a definite reaction to the Moderna booster yesterday. Headache, nausea, shivers, badly bruised & swollen upper arm, hot and tender to touch at the injection site. Wiped out and tired, slept badly. Feels like I'm coming down with flu tbh.

worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 16:40

@fournonblondes you get what they have on the day , this could if happened with wither I suppose
Its just one of those things and better than severe covid
Round here it changes daily what they give , my friend also had moderna yesterday and she is totally fine not a single thing , my mum had pfizer and feels a little off colour

OP posts:
worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 16:41

@dopenguinsdance yes like you feel with start of flu too , although speaking to a friend she had this but said within 24 hrs she was right as rain , went as quick as it came on .
