Positive Moderna experiences

Mifacagare · 13/12/2021 12:35

I nearly cancelled my Booster through fear of feeling ill after having Moderna at a time when being ill would play havoc with my plans and severe anxiety about feeling ill. Most of the experiences I'd read on the net or through chatting to friends. I wonder how many other people are the same?

Anyway I did it yesterday morning and so far nothing, after nearly 30 hours ( the time scale they advised that the really bad stuff kicks in) I have nothing other than a mildly sore arm, my husband is the same. I felt worse with both my Pfizer vaccines, which weren't really bad at all either. Maybe it's because I drank tons of water as they advised, who knows.

So I'm posting here to say not everyone suffers, but we only ever hear the negative experiences, maybe we should have some positive experiences too.

I’ve heard very few bad Moderna stories.

I had Moderna for first and second jabs. Felt a bit foggy but certainly able to have a normal day.

89redballoons · 13/12/2021 12:41

DH had Moderna for his first and second vaccines and had absolutely no side effects.

MelonTits · 13/12/2021 12:45

A mildly sore arm for both jabs. Booster booked at the weekend, hopefully more of the same, but if not then I’ll just suck it up.

LittleRen · 13/12/2021 12:49

Had booster Moderna yesterday. Didnt sleep well, didn't feel quite right and my arm was super sore... seems a lot better already.

I did also have a cold before I had my vaccine.

I had pfizer.. most people who have had either booster that I know have not been anywhere near as bad as with the two main jabs.

SirensofTitan · 13/12/2021 12:50

I had moderna, I didn't know that it was giving everyone side effects.

There wasn't a choice at the place I went to when I was there, maybe there is at other places. Anyway I was totally fine as has everyone I've spoken to about it been

I don't really understand how people don't know yet that there's no way to predict if you'll have a side effect.

Scutterbug · 13/12/2021 12:53

I had Moderna for my booster too. No side effects other than a sore arm.

CrumbleLady · 13/12/2021 12:56

I had Moderna. Sore arm and very mild symptoms such as achy muscles etc.
Nothing paracetamol didn’t fix and definitely very minor compared to the benefits.
I could still go to work etc without too much bother.

spinachpie · 13/12/2021 12:57

I had a sore arm and a headache after Moderna. Diddums! No worse than the headache after a busy day at work.

Cookerhood · 13/12/2021 12:58

All fine here too, slightly sore arm. The booster is half a dose anyway so maybe less likely to produce side effects?

frozendaisy · 13/12/2021 13:03

Thanks for starting this OP had a moderna booster this lunchtime and I'm now feeling much more positive I might not end upin bed all day tomorrow like my DH is today after his Pfizer booster yesterday.

Nikita1709 · 13/12/2021 13:09

I had Moderna for my 1st & 2nd jabs, and fingers crossed for my third too, and all fine. Mildly sore arm and a bit tired in the afternoon following my jab, but other than that nothing.

JustABloodyMinute · 13/12/2021 13:09

All my friends and I have had Moderna. None had any side effects other than a sore arm. Much better experiences than family members who had one of the other vaccinations.

IndigoC · 13/12/2021 13:14

The Moderna booster is a half dose.

I had Moderna for my first two, the second was hell. Then a Moderna booster on Friday night, very unpleasant for 36 hours but around 60% of what I endured after dose 2. Mild fever, rapid heart beat, arm pain.

I think the pain is worth the strong antibody response you get from this vaccine, and many people have no reaction at all.

Toottooot · 13/12/2021 13:15

First and second jabs were Moderna. 1st dose sore arm the following day, 2nd dose sore arm almost immediately but not as sore as first jab and a bit lethargic that evening but nothing horrific. All perfectly bearable.

TeloMere · 13/12/2021 13:22

My grandmother (in her 90's) had no reaction at all to the Moderna booster. She was pleased, so I didn't like to tell her that a reaction (feeling tired, ill etc for a day or 2) might be a sign of a strong immune reaction and a Good Thing.

Cookerhood · 13/12/2021 13:24

A lack of reaction doesn't mean no response, so don't worry.

frozendaisy · 14/12/2021 08:30

Woke up to very sore/tender arm at injection site, but that seems to be all. So today I am totally team Moderna!

Sweetleftfood · 14/12/2021 09:03

Had my Moderna booster yesterday and apart from a very sore arm, more sore than from my two first AZs, nothing else. No headache or fogginess or anything

dyingplant · 14/12/2021 09:07

Had Moderna on Saturday after two AZ jabs with no side effects.

Nothing of note this time either aside from a slightly tender arm. Slight headache Sunday but took paracetamol and it went.

I was also dreading feeling rubbish as I'd read lots of stories, but relieved I didn't have any issues.

nannybeach · 14/12/2021 09:10

People talk about "side effects" bad side effects, then others get the wrong idea. It's not like eating "bad" fish and getting food poisoning. It's your immune system kicking in. I have had nursing friends have both, guess which they preferred

VitalsStable · 14/12/2021 09:11

DH and I both had AZ for our first 2, I was really ill after my first one, DH perfectly fine and we were both fine after our second. Both had Moderna for booster, I had a sore arm and a bit of tiredness but DH was really poorly, headache, fever, shivers and his whole body ached for a couple of days, plus his glands in his groin and under his arm swelled up.

I think there's no pattern how you react to any of the jabs. One of my clients was really I'll after her second jab but said she'd prefer that to how horrendously I'll she was when she had covid.

nannybeach · 14/12/2021 09:13

My DH who is as tough as nails,(AZ X2) PFIZER booster was wiped out and on the sofa, the following morning and next day.

Xmasprrssiehelp · 14/12/2021 09:15

I had the same experience with all my moderna jabs, including booster.

I managed to get my booster really early (aged 33 but live in a very high vax uptake area - it’s 93% of people aged 12+). At my appointment I was told the younger you are the more chance of side effects as your immune system is less seasoned Grin So you will get a stronger immune response from the vaccine. I also have definitely never had covid, confirmed by antibody test, and I really don’t want it, if the 1 day of being ill after each jab is any insight into how it will effect me!!

Lindy2 · 14/12/2021 09:15

DH had a Moderna booster yesterday morning.

His arm is a little sore this morning and he's got a little bit of a headache but he's gone off to work ok. I think he took paracetamol with him but hadn't actually felt the need to take any yet.

Popcornriver · 14/12/2021 09:18

Moderna for both jabs, no real side effects apart from the sore arm.
