Covid in the house…are we now safe?

Hi
DS1 positive LFT Monday and positive on PCR results in Tuesday
DS2 faint positive Friday on LFT and positive on PCR results Saturday.
So on day 8 of ds1 and day 4 of ds2.
Me and DH double jabbed.
Both still negative on LFT. I’ve had two negative PCRS last one being Friday, DH last negative PCR Wednesday.
Are we now safe for Christmas and unlikely to catch it?

Helenluvsrob · 13/12/2021 08:14

Nope. You still may catch it from them ( isolation is till day 10 ) and there isn’t any reason you won’t go catch it in Tesco’s etc after I’m afraid

VerbenaGirl · 13/12/2021 08:20

I was talking to someone at the weekend who made it to 10 days negative when DC had Covid, then tested positive.

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 08:22

Oh wow 🤦‍♀️ So there is still time, I thought maybe the chances were lower now this far on. Praying we stay negative now as getting very close to another isolated Christmas otherwise :(

Hope your kiddies are okay.
There's every possibility that you won't catch it. 🤞

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 09:31

@JingleJingleAllTheWay
Hopefully 🙏
My youngest was very poorly but absolutely fine now and my eldest had nothing more than a snotty nose!

I'm glad they're doing okay. Hang on in there and have an amazing Christmas 🎄

@JingleJingleAllTheWay
Thank you so much and you! 🎅

Hope your DSs are ok @Mokoloko 😊 Afraid I know people in a similar position to PPs 🙈 Work colleague with 9y/o and 13y/o - youngest positive after class outbreak, oldest positive on day 4/5ish then colleague and her DH positive on day 8 of the oldest one!

HermioneWeasley · 13/12/2021 09:41

Ignore the doom mongers. Covid is not spread in supermarkets it is spread by prolonged person to person contact. If you’ve had it in the house for 8 days and not caught it it’s very unlikely (not impossible) at this stage.

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 09:47

@PanettoneSeason

They are fine thank you, my 3 year old had a temperature, shivering and very snotty for the first 3 days then developed a horrendous cough for about 3 days.
My eldest who is 7 has had a slight snotty nose but he seems full of “cold” today but he’s absolutely fine.
Oh wow so it is still very much possible 😱

@HermioneWeasley

Thank you- let’s hope 🙏🙏

5 days post-contact is the most likely time to test positive after delta infection, they think its 2-3 days for omicron. I'd say the chance of you geting it from 7 days after the last DC tested positive are significantly reduced (so you're probably pretty safe from day 14ish) but it depends on age of DCs and their capacity to self isolate. My DCs are positive and I caught it from DD despite being triple vaccinated (booster over a month ago) but DD has no concept of personal space (possible ASD) and frequently sneezed in my face. DH (also boosted) hasn't caught it yet, hes CV so I've been doing all the childcare.

Doesn't mean you can't catch it just going about your daily business though! Especially if omicron is as infectious as they say it is.

@Mokoloko Oh poor wee things 😓 At least they’re through the worst of it now 🤞🏼 Still very much possible I’m afraid but hopefully you’ve just managed to avoid it 🤞🏼

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 09:59

@FruitToast

That’s interesting, thank you.
I got them the wrong way round when posting sorry, so my 3 year old was positive first, absolutely no distancing coughing sneezing in my face constantly and lots of cuddles when he was poorly. My 7 year old who tested positive Friday also haven’t been distancing due to his age, we have just carried on as normal to be honest.
Wouldn’t we have been told if it was the new variant from their pcr?

Hope your all okay- can I ask the time frames etc of you all testing positive?

OP posts:
Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 10:16

@FruitToast
Sorry I meant positive tests LFT etc.

OP posts:
Muddlebubble · 13/12/2021 10:18

Exactly the same postion here.
Everyone around us has it and we were with them as they practically had no symptoms, until my neice had a sore throat so pcr test she is positive, resulting in whole family testing all positive, no symptoms.
So thought better check mine as well together all the time. 1 child positive, again no symptoms. We are all negative but going for another test today as dh no symptoms other than yesterday lost his taste out of no where.
Some of us been jabbed, some not, older ones younger ones, some with asthma etc etc. Im just grateful that that a sore throat for 24hrs is it.
Everyone comes out of isolation tomorrow 🤞

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 10:41

@Muddlebubble

Let me know how the test goes 🤞🤞 hopefully the rest have you have escaped it! I’m guessing your child is on day 9 now then and no one else has caught it in your house?

DD (6) tested positive on LFT and PCR on the 6th. LFT on the 5th was negative. We were doing daily LFTs due to a class outbreak at school.

Both DS (3) and I tested negative on LFT everyday until the evening of the 10th. I'd tested that morning so he could go to nursery and I was doing 10 day mandatory testing for work. DS was a bit snotty at tea time so I tested him before bed out of caution and he was LFT positive! I was negative then (about 7pm) but felt like I had a cold coming at 10pm, so did yet another LFT and it was a faint but clear positive! I had a strong positive LFT the next morning and we both had it confirmed by PCR. So the LFT went from 'negative' to positive in the space of a couple of hours for me.

We're all fine. DC are a bit snotty but nothing I would normally be keeping anyone off school or work for. If anything I feel more like when my hay fever kicks in than anything else. Itchy nose and eyes but no cough, fever or loss of taste/smell.

Brigittebidet · 13/12/2021 10:48

We're the same here, DD aged 11 tested positive on Monday last week with LFT and then confirmed on Tuesday with a PCR. We are all still waiting (DS aged 12, DH and me) to test positive. We're now 8 days post contact. I was just about to come and ask how long, but I don't think I'll feel "relieved" until day 14. We have not been isolating DD within the household (obviously keeping her in the house, but not separating her from us if that makes sense). I know exactly what is going to happen - we'll all test positive on the last day of isolation (15th) and be in for the whole of the school holidays until Christmas Day. I was hoping we'd all get it within 5 days and be done! Ah well, it is what it is.

ShrillSiren · 13/12/2021 10:50

My daughter tested positive on on 05/12. I tested positive on 08/12. My husband and eldest son are negative so far. It just seems like the luck of the draw on whether you catch it or not.

covidcovidandmore · 13/12/2021 10:51

7 of us in the house DP HAS BEEN POSITIVE since last Tuesday symptoms started Monday the rest of us still are negative

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 11:00

Sure is a lot of it around at the moment!!
I don’t think I’ll feel back to “normal” until day 14 either! I was hoping to we would all get it within the first 5 days aswell as this isolating is worse than lockdowns. The children are so bored and frustrated! Running out of things to do with them 🤦‍♀️

@FruitToast
Ah hopefully your husband won't catch it being CV 🤞
I'm feeling sneezy and that itchy nose feeling today. Hoping it's just a cold on route- LFT still negative today.

OP posts:
ShrillSiren · 13/12/2021 13:20

Now my eldest son has just had a positive LFT so it's just my husband left out of 5 of us. He is double vaccinated and had the booster a couple of weeks ago so hopefully that will protect him.

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 13:26

@ShrillSiren
Oh no!! Hope your all okay. Is it a strong positive or faint?
I'm starting to feel a tad rubbish but still negative.
