Covid in the house…are we now safe?

Hi
DS1 positive LFT Monday and positive on PCR results in Tuesday
DS2 faint positive Friday on LFT and positive on PCR results Saturday.
So on day 8 of ds1 and day 4 of ds2.
Me and DH double jabbed.
Both still negative on LFT. I’ve had two negative PCRS last one being Friday, DH last negative PCR Wednesday.
Are we now safe for Christmas and unlikely to catch it?

My son's LFT was a really dark positive so I'm just going to assume he has it now and probably not bother with a PCR. He's been isolating anyway and will just continue to do school work at home.
My 2 youngest will be out of isolation tomorrow and back to school, although I think most of their classmates are off school with covid anyway.
Luckily so far we've all been fine, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

Good luck to you too.

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 14:12

Glad you have all been ok and back to a bit of normality tomorrow!
Was the test negative yesterday but strong today? I find these tests mind boggling they were so faint for my eldest you could just about see it then really dark the day after when he got his positive PCR.
My friend was a completely negative on them despite having symptoms for 2-3 days then got a positive one after her positive PCR

We've just had covid in the house - both DC and DH had it but I've managed to avoid it. We are on day 16 of the first positive and day 10 of the last positive (DH) so I'm hoping I'm definitely out of the woods now!

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 14:43

@Whatdoyawannado
I have everything crossed for you 🤞

My daughter who has covid has not tested positive on the lft at all, no symptoms either.

All been tested again today as all have negative lft and i dont trust them anymore, see what the results are hopefully tomorrow

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 17:59

@Muddlebubble
Wow really? That's worrying isn't it- to be fair like I said above they didn't work for a friend of mine until the day after her PCR.
But they have worked for both my DC.
Yes please update me on the results- I have a PCR booked in tomorrow also.

Hop you can remain negative OP! We are in day 8 I

StarStruK · 13/12/2021 18:26

Hope you can remain negative OP! We are on day 8 of my husband testing positive and so far, somehow, myself and our 3 children have remained negative. I've had a cold, but even that is easing now. I'm going for another PCR tomorrow, really hoping it's negative and we'll be clear for Christmas!!

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 18:46

@StarStruK
Oh wow just one so far that's got to be a good sign!?
Let me know how it goes and your result!!
Let's hope we get to have our Christmas!

@Mokoloko

Oh wow 🤦‍♀️ So there is still time, I thought maybe the chances were lower now this far on. Praying we stay negative now as getting very close to another isolated Christmas otherwise :(
Chances start reducing after day 5... lower doesn't mean zero though! You'd have to be very unlucky to get symptoms at day 10. I'm on day 7 🤞🏻
Warhertisuff · 13/12/2021 18:58

Some stats from a study into this:

	The median incubation period (half of all cases occur before this time and half after) was 5.1 days.
	97.5% of people who develop symptoms will have got them within 11.5 days.
Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 18:59

@Warhertisuff
11.5 days! That's depressing 😂

Becoming less likely but I wouldn't say safe yet. Dp tested positive last Sunday 5/12. I tested positive yesterday. My pcr tests on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday were negative. Positive lft yesterday morning and pcr confirmed. I'm double jabbed too.

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 19:39

@Coronachristmas21
Oh wow right near the end then!?
Did you have any symptoms?
I don't really understand what day we are technically on- track and trace said last Monday was day 0 🤨 but I would of thought it was day 1? So we're either on day 7 or 8 🤷‍♀️

No new symptoms as such yesterday but cold like symptoms today.

Saying this, I had a cough all last week and all pcr tests negative. So I say I only tested positive yesterday because officially I did, but I spoke to a doctor today (they randomly rang me to check up on me - what a miracle 😅) and he said it could be a possible I had covid last week and was too early on tests OR I may have had something else last week. Doctor was actually pretty sure I could have had it last week and pcr didn't pick it up but for me! But considering I have new cold symptoms today and loss of smell and taste starting today, I believe that it was something else last week and covid now, but I'll never know 🤦‍♀️

Day of symptoms starting or positive test if no symptoms is day zero. The next day is day 1. We learnt this in the last week as I thought dp's last day of isolation was Tuesday but it's actually Wednesday! So technically it can be 11 days 🤦‍♀️

@Coronachristmas21

That makes sense now thank you, his symptoms and LFT was Monday, so we are on day 7 then of my youngest sorry! We are on day 4 of my eldest as I told track and trace his runny nose started Thursday but didn't get a positive LFT until Friday.

So much going around, my friend also had a cold last week as well as covid!
Am I right to be going for a PCR every 3 ish days? I read this somewhere but can't think where.

I managed to avoid it altogether but DH caught it from DD and DS on day 9 so not out the woods yet OP.

Mokoloko · 13/12/2021 20:12

@Ivchangedmynameforthis
Eek! Thanks for telling me. Hope they are all well.
Just found out I got it wrong and we're actually on day 7 of my youngest not day 8 🤦‍♀️

Scbchl · 13/12/2021 20:13

Hope you don't catch it. When my eldest dd had it in September none of us caught it. My son tested positive on lateral flow last night and we got pcrs today. All the other four of us had negative lateral flows. I think we are likely going to end up locked down for Xmas tho. My ds has sore eyes, thats it.

That was actually for the original Wuhan strain.... Delta replicates faster - two days faster on average so I've just read.

Mokoloko · 14/12/2021 08:48

Still negative on LFT
Have a PCR today
