Covid in the house…are we now safe?

Hi
DS1 positive LFT Monday and positive on PCR results in Tuesday
DS2 faint positive Friday on LFT and positive on PCR results Saturday.
So on day 8 of ds1 and day 4 of ds2.
Me and DH double jabbed.
Both still negative on LFT. I’ve had two negative PCRS last one being Friday, DH last negative PCR Wednesday.
Are we now safe for Christmas and unlikely to catch it?

We are on the same timeline as you and I'm so paranoid about any feeling out of the ordinary! Still negative so far but so worried about getting it now, really want to enjoy Christmas before it looks like more restrictions. I hope your test is negative.

Mokoloko · 15/12/2021 10:59

@sunflowerroses
Wow what's the odds of that same time lines! My lft are also still negative just took another to be sure. Really not feeling great since last night so no idea what's going on! We too want to have a lovely Christmas considering we stuck to the rules last year and had Christmas at home alone! Got everything crossed for you that you stay negative!!

Negative! Phew 😮‍💨

gogohm · 15/12/2021 13:28

In theory no, but the likelihood of being positive decreases a lot after 5 days. I would do pcrs on Friday to be sure

Mokoloko · 15/12/2021 13:47

@gogohm
Thanks- I can't see it getting to me and DH now. Last day of isolation for my youngest and day 6 for my eldest.

DD developed symptoms and tested positive last Monday (the 6th). She had a high temperature for a day and a sore throat for a couple of days. She's a lot better now but her senses of taste and smell are still affected. I have not developed any symptoms, my PCR on day 4 was negative and all my LFTs before and after have been negative. I also got my booster after my PCR (fortunately no side effects other than a sore arm). DD's self-isolation ends on Friday and I will be deeply annoyed if I test positive before it does so!

Mokoloko · 15/12/2021 14:15

@SophyRivenhall
How comes your DD has a 12 day isolation period? My youngest was positive last Monday the 6th also and his last day is today.
Yes me and you both! I feel we are fairly safe now though and still totally flabbergasted as to how it hasn't spread to us! Seems bizarre you can live, breath the same air, kiss and cuddle two covid positive children and not catch it but can apparently catch it standing near someone at a supermarket or something. 🤨

@Mokoloko, I thought self-isolation ended on the 16th but the guidance at www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection gives an example of someone testing positive on the 15th and coming out of self-isolation at 23.59 on the 25th (unfortunate choice of date).

So if self-isolation started on the 6th, it finishes at 23.59 on the 16th and DD goes to school on the 17th on the last day of term. Either you've given me good news that she can go back to school tomorrow or I've given you bad news that your DS is at home an extra day (sorry).

@SophyRivenhall oh my goodness I've done this about 15x on this post I'm so sorry your right yes today is day 9 isn't it 🤦‍♀️ I keep forgetting! Blame being locked indoors with two children for 9 days 😂

SophyRivenhall · 15/12/2021 14:59

@Mokoloko, no need to apologise. May we carry on testing negative for the final couple of days and I hope you get over that other bug soon!

Mokoloko · 15/12/2021 15:33

@SophyRivenhall

Although I'm convinced I have had it a day before him but tested negative on pcr and ltr flow the whole 10 days but today woke with a chest infection 😞 am doing an antibody test today to see if I've had covid in the last month and if it's positive then I sure he'll no that all my test were wrong 😑

Mokoloko · 16/12/2021 11:16

@justmeandcovid
Oh poor you! Chest infections are awful! Hope you feel better soon and in the clear now hopefully for you all 🤞 can you just order antibody tests?

OP posts:
justmeandcovid · 16/12/2021 12:36

@Mokoloko I had one already from yen Zoe study but that told me if I had antibodys from the vaccine I had to order and pay for one it was 11 pound plus delivery this one will tell me if I've had covid in the last month xx

Mokoloko · 16/12/2021 12:38

@justmeandcovid
Interesting! What website is that please?

OP posts:
justmeandcovid · 16/12/2021 13:36

@Mokoloko I don't think that links works it's called Panodyne antibody covid 19 test from ZED MED

Lavendersquare · 16/12/2021 13:45

I caught covid from DD my day 2 & day 8 PCR's were negative, I got symptoms on day 12 and tested positive on day 13.

I'm certain that I caught it from DD as I no other contacts at all.

Mokoloko · 16/12/2021 13:47

@Lavendersquare
Oh my goodness ! That is crazy isn't it but I guess possible considering you can incubate it for quite some time!

OP posts:
justmeandcovid · 16/12/2021 16:58

@Lalalablahblahblah my antibody test came back positive for lgG and negative for lgM but I had my second jab in October so I would of that I would of still had antibodys from that

Mokoloko · 16/12/2021 17:12

@justmeandcovid

What is the difference between those sorry? Not sure or what IG5 and IGM is?

OP posts:
justmeandcovid · 16/12/2021 17:18

@Mokoloko lgG means u have had covid and the antibodys are from that lgM means u have antibodys from the vaccine

Mokoloko · 16/12/2021 18:02
