Anyone else finding it impossible to book an appointment? It keeps booting me out and asking for the nhs number again. Wondering whether it’s me or the website…?

Me too. Tried yesterday and again this morning but the same problem

Whatkatyforgottodo · 13/12/2021 06:44

I can’t even get in! I wait in a queue then I get a message saying they’re experiencing difficulties 🤬

ColourBeautiful · 13/12/2021 06:46

So frustrating . They have a big conference and then don’t have the IT capabilities to make it work!

The same is happening to me - literally going round in circles. I've tried with entering my NHS number, or just doing my name and date of birth but it makes no difference. A couple of times I've got to enter my postcode to search for a centre but then it takes me back to entering my NHS number.

ColourBeautiful · 13/12/2021 06:54

One time I managed to select the vaccination centre, so thought I made it …… but no back to the beginning again! Think I will leave it for a while now

OP posts:
Iggly · 13/12/2021 06:55

Same. I’m not going to bother checking just yet.
Many over 40s haven’t even had their boosters so opening it to everyone is nuts. The nhs doesn’t have the capacity. They don’t have anywhere near as many centres open. Absolute joke.

Tabbacus · 13/12/2021 06:57

To be honest though its likely that vaccination centres weren't given much of a heads up, and there's a load of stuff logistically to sort to be able to offer more appointments. Quite a few of my friends who managed to get through last night couldn't see any appointments closer than a hundred or so miles away. Why Boris did it on a Sunday night is a bit baffling.

ColourBeautiful · 13/12/2021 07:00

Agree with all points made above. Just so annoying! They devise a briefing to make everyone afraid and comply to getting the booster and then don’t have the infrastructure in place to back it up!

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 13/12/2021 07:02

I was awake around 4am & got mine then - sounds like the queue’s starting up really early.

Doomscrolling · 13/12/2021 07:02

The NHS found out about the booster roll out at the same time as the rest of us, poor bastards.

It was just BJ grandstanding and hoping to distract from his current calamities.

TheVampiresWife · 13/12/2021 07:04

I'm trying to book for DD (we're taking it in shifts to see who gets through first!) and it's a nightmare. It reminds me of the very early days when I was trying to book for myself - the same things kept happening then (waiting ages to get through, getting booted back to the start when you do etc).

The words piss up and brewery seem appropriate here.

Noworneverever · 13/12/2021 07:05

Boris said in the briefing it would open up to everyone on Wednesday.

DanceToTheMusicInMyHead · 13/12/2021 07:05

Keep going! DH and I kept getting booted out in the circle of doom but got there eventually. Took about 15 mins of constantly re-entering the bloody nhs number. It crashed as I clicked 'confirm appointment' too and I feared the worst, but then my confirmation text came through. Both booked for Thursday. Good luck!

Mindymomo · 13/12/2021 07:06

He said booking will be open to everyone from Wednesday, it’s still only open to over 40’s at the moment. I really don’t see how they can manage to do everyone before Christmas. We have a local Church, 2 empty shops and some portacabins at local racecourse.

DCINightingale · 13/12/2021 07:07

I got through no problem at half 5 this morning, so probably high traffic causing issues as every one wakes up and tries to book

NinJellyWarrior · 13/12/2021 07:11

I've given up now. Round and round in circles was just too frustrating.

It'll die down next week or so. I was having issues booking locally before BJs announcement too so there is no hope now. My partner booked in the middle of the night for the 20th an 50 minute drive away.

I'm hoping for a walk in centre locally but I can't see that happening any time soon.

ColourBeautiful · 13/12/2021 07:13

I was trying at 4 am this morning ( up with baby), again at 6am, just end up in the circle of doom!

OP posts:
QuiltedHippo · 13/12/2021 07:15

Just going in circles, I've got as far as appointment slots a couple of times and had plenty of choice this week but then it goes back to asking for DOB, NHS number etc. So it's the system rather than availability here

DuggeeHugPlease · 13/12/2021 07:17

Regardless of Boris' targets I've decided to wait until January as originally planned (I'm under 40)
I have a school aged child and a baby. I can't do it (at least not very easily) during school holidays and the chances of getting an appointment this week are slim. I don't fancy waiting for ages at a drop in centre with a baby either. I will wait until things quiet down a little in the new year.

Itsjustricemichael · 13/12/2021 07:17

Is anyone else getting sent really far away? Like 150 miles away?

RagzReturnsRebooted · 13/12/2021 07:18

@Tabbacus

We weren't (and never are!) given any heads up. It's crazy, every time they change the rules we have to catch up.
gogohm · 13/12/2021 07:18

It not open to everyone until Wednesday so if you are under 30 you need to wait for booster vaccine booking.

rrhuth · 13/12/2021 07:20

@ColourBeautiful

So frustrating . They have a big conference and then don’t have the IT capabilities to make it work!
Apparently doctors only learned via the conference there was a new target of 1m doses per day.

This is the chaos you get from our PM - presumably the conference was rescheduled due to the quiz photo.

No one in the Tory party actually cares about your booster Angry

ColourBeautiful · 13/12/2021 07:31

@gogohm

I am over 30 and eligible. The system just isn’t working at the moment

@rrhuth I think you are most likely right!
