If you lost your sense of smell what day of infection was it?

DD is on Day 12 of her isolation so now back to school. She had bad cold symptoms, feeling sick and a dry cough. She's just today lost her sense of smell. Is that normal? Seems very late if she's now on Day 14. Just a bit concerned that she's come out of isolation too soon.

Day 5

Did she have a PCR?

Did you date that as day 0?

Mooscow · 09/12/2021 10:14

Its a whole long story with symptoms and positive LTF followed by negative PCR then, another PCR that came back failed and then another PCR came back positive, all within 14 days. So T&T said because her symptoms amd positive LFT started 10 days before the positive PCR the isolation period should be date of positive PCR plus 5 days. I'm pretty sure the negative PCR was a false negative as all of her symptoms have gradually got better since then. Just very odd that she only lost her sense of smell yesterday, which is Day 14 since symptoms started/positive LFT and Day 8 after her eventual positive test.

mrsdolittle · 09/12/2021 12:42

I lost taste/ smell on day 4. No idea when it will come back as I'm only on day 5!

Clarkey86 · 09/12/2021 12:52

I lost it on about day 4 too.

Hotpinkangel19 · 09/12/2021 12:57

Maybe 4 or 5. Nearly 2 months later I still can't smell anything!

snowpiercer · 09/12/2021 13:02

I lost mine on day 4 and currently on day 9 still haven't got it back though obviously.

PleasantBirthday · 09/12/2021 13:04

Day 4 or 5. I'm a fortnight out and I can smell but I do have the hallucinations.

Rade · 09/12/2021 13:05

Day 5 of symptoms here though none of us can know how long we were incubating before symptoms showed.

GlamourSpider · 09/12/2021 13:05

Day 4 here

ParadiseLaundry · 09/12/2021 13:18

Day 4 or thereabouts for me too.

MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe · 09/12/2021 13:22

Day 9, then it came back after 9 weeks

Mooscow · 09/12/2021 13:35

Thanks everyone. This virus is so odd! The weird thing is that her taste isn't affected that much but she can't smell a thing. Stuck her face in some garlic, almond essence and raw onion and couldn't smell a thing.

About day 4-5 and it's still not right

MrsMcCluskeysCat · 09/12/2021 14:02

I lost it between days 3-9.

ComDummings · 09/12/2021 14:04

It was in the second week for me, I can’t remember the exact day but it felt quite ‘late’ on for me as well

Ontopofthesunset · 09/12/2021 14:05

About day 6-7 started to notice things not tasting very much, by 7-8 completely gone. Back in a couple of weeks though!

KylieKoKo · 09/12/2021 14:27

Day 6 and it was back by day 9

usernotfound0000 · 09/12/2021 15:17

Around day 5 for me.

Vallmo47 · 09/12/2021 15:19

Around day 5/6 for me, back 4 days later. I did ask and track & trace said coughs and loss of smell/taste can linger on even after you are infectious. She can carry on as normal once her time is up.

Sengi · 09/12/2021 17:23

Day 6/7

greyspottedgoose · 09/12/2021 17:58

I had assumed day 1 as I didn't have any other symptoms apart from smell and taste so now I'm wondering if I was positive earlier

PurpleDaisies · 09/12/2021 17:59

About five for me, then it was back a week or two later. Taste not affected
