Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.

I've had strong reactions to the 3 primary vaccinations I've had so far. The first AZ knocked me down for a week, the 2nd a couple of days and Pfizer was 3 days.

And I'll have my booster in a few months and any other vaccines they produce.

Because all those symptoms, all those reactions to the different versions of the covid spike protein in each vaccine - I'd be getting those reactions to the real spike protein in actual covid. Only - unless I had a teeny tiny viral load maybe - I'd be getting those reactions worse, and the virus would be replicating in the way that the vaccine doesn't, and I'd probably be very ill indeed.

I'm hoping for Moderna next, so I can get the full set Wink

@Valhalla17

Those that say " well I take the flu jab every year"....I assume that's because you're vulnerable or have an underlying condition that requires it...and I expect the same for Covid vaccines and boosters. Every single man, woman and child does not require this. Its beyond ridiculous.
No, I do it because it's routinely offered by my GP/gynaecologist/whatever doctor I visit and takes roughly 10 seconds. Is that not the case where you live?
Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:17

@secondaries I had 2 x AZ but booster was a half dose of Moderna. Had a slight fever 24hrs later and sore arm but that was it. I’m 50.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/11/2021 15:17

@RestingMurderousFace

I didn’t realise that so many people were having annual flu shots. Genuinely thought it was only offered to OAPs.
In addition to the extended numbers who can now get it for free, some companies (I don't know what proportion) will provide their staff with vouchers for flu jabs. It's presumably enlightened self-interest because they don't want people unnecessarily ill.

AntiMaskersAreTwats

A very intolerant and hateful comment.

By the way if they did get covid it's very unlikely they would be gotten rid of as you hope .

Are you aware of the very low mortality rate?

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:17

I’m fit with no underlying conditions btw.

KrispyKale · 28/11/2021 15:18

I've never been offered the flu jab though I'm not in the doctors frequently I have visited in the past couple of years. For a start you are only allowed to talk about one issue!😂

Cakemonger · 28/11/2021 15:18

Yes, gratefully.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/11/2021 15:18

I presume you're not in the UK as it's only offered to certain groups here. I've never been offered one thankfully

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:18

I’ve been getting flu offers from GP since I turned 50 too. Thought everyone over 50 was offered it.

Flowerlane · 28/11/2021 15:19
@EffOrfagain to qulify for a free flu jab for asthma you need to be on a preventer steroid inhaler.
Not all surgeries go by that. Our surgery don’t, if you have the blue inhaler for emergencies only you still are eligible for the flu jab.

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:19

I haven’t been to GP for 3 years. They send letters and texts at my surgery. U.K.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 28/11/2021 15:19

Yes, I'm getting booster and flu next week. I don't want to but if I need a vaccine every 6 months to stay healthy (and alive!) then fair enough. tbh I feel lucky they're available.

Valhalla17 · 28/11/2021 15:19

Yes @Haffiana I want through it, I was there. My body has always been sensitive and after one evening with friends I had issues. I know my body thanks. I still got the vax afterwards despite this as I'm a lone parent and can't take any chances...also high pressure at work to be vaxxed and I don't want to put colleagues at risk who may be vulnerable etc.

RestingMurderousFace · 28/11/2021 15:19

It used to be over 65 and vulnerable people but was changed to over 50 last year, I think you have to be quite vulnerable though to qualify for a free one if you are not in the age group because DH has asthma and he didn't qualify for one

That sounds more like it, thought I was living in a parallel universe for a moment there. I have asthma too and it’s never even been mentioned to me. Saying that I haven’t had so much as a cold since 2008 so I must be doing something right.

Have had my two Pfizers though, undecided about the booster.

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:20

In UK you just have to be over 50 to get a free flu jab.

ravenmum · 28/11/2021 15:21

Yes, I'm in Germany. Had no idea the UK was unable to provide the same service.
blusteredbirds · 28/11/2021 15:21

@Viviennemary

I had the booster and had a horrific headache and was extremely tired and very very sore arm. The way I feel at the moment is no more vaccines for me.
I have covid at the moment, bad headache, extremely tired, sore throat. But that's all I have. Thanks to the vaccine

I regard myself as lucky to have got covid after I had both my vaccines as people I know who got it before being vaccinated were much, much more ill than I am now
And of course lots of people got covid and died. Or got long covid. I'd much rather risk a vaccine induced headache and tiredness over how sick I would get if I got covid.

DameFanny · 28/11/2021 15:21
We are nowhere near giving stats such as 1 in 100,000 about how frequent and what side effects are possible - it is not informed consent IMO. And we certainly don't have long-term data on 3 and 4 jabs within a short time period. The original trials were for 2 doses

I take your point, hamstersarse, especially the bit about the original trials being for 2 doses

Then of course, some will no doubt remember what's happening with America's FDA over the release of Pfizer's trial data: www.reuters.com/legal/government/wait-what-fda-wants-55-years-process-foia-request-over-vaccine-data-2021-11-18/
What's happening with the release of the data is they've said they'll start now, they just need time to process every page. They're not going to throw resources at doing that - as they threw resources at testing and releasing the actual vaccination because it's not going to save lives to give hundreds of thousands of pages of data to people who a. are just using it as propaganda for anti science and b. very few of whom will actually understand it.

If you run a business, how would you feel about being asked to take half your staff to fill a FOI request filed by someone who wants to see you go under?

But the anti-vaccers will use this to persuade the hard of thinking that there's something dodgy going on Sad

KrispyKale · 28/11/2021 15:21

What's a gynaecologist say all the NHS users.😂

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2021 15:21

I’m not taking any more. I was promised freedom if I git jagged and that’s turned out to be shite. So no

Benjispruce5 · 28/11/2021 15:23

@WouldBeGood does freedom from death not appeal?

ravenmum · 28/11/2021 15:23

@KrispyKale

What's a gynaecologist say all the NHS users.😂
😂 OK, fair point!
Megan2018 · 28/11/2021 15:23

I’ll happily have as many vaccines as necessary, as long as the science supports the efficacy and safety (which it does at the moment).

maddiemookins16mum · 28/11/2021 15:24

I had my booster on Friday, felt like I’d been hit by a bus yesterday. Will I continue with vaccines, too flippin right I will.
