Are you really prepared to take every single vaccine

It worries me that we may have to keep having vaccines going forward. I’m due my booster which I will take but I’m hearing that AZ are in the process of tweaking the current vaccine to combat the new strain. So we are then required to take another booster. Many variants can crop up, suppose another one does very soon. I’m concerned about the number of vaccines we could be taking. Is anyone else? And no I’m not an anti vaxer.

The only time I wasn’t vaccinated was as a child for whooping cough, which nearly killed me when I was 12 and had left me with life long lung weakness.

Yes, I’ll have any vaccines available.

Pinkfluffyunicornsandrainbows · 29/11/2021 19:42

I understand where you are coming from, now they have said 3 months between the second vaccine and the booster it would be 3 covid vaccines in 5 months. To be honest that does concern me if it continues going forward. I'm happy to have the first 3 like you op and i have the flu vaccine but that is just one a year not numerous flu vaccines within a few months of eachother. So yes i'm feeling uneasy about it.

I'm not normally one to doubt people's qualifications but I struggle to understand how someone could gain a PhD in neuroscience whilst simulatenously believing it's plausible that an intramuscular injection could lead to changes to genetic material in the brain which results in "mind control"[/quote]
I don’t believe her either!

I will have it, but I wonder about some of the stats out there. I personally have had an ex boss (53) with blood clots after jab 2 and A&E emergency, best friend’s partner (52) with a 5cm clot in lung and had to be frozen and heart removed to get it out (he’s recovering now in Cambridge), and two friends of a good friend, 47 and early 50s, who died from sudden clots after jabs in last couple of months. All men. There are meant to be about 59 of these in total in the U.K. and I know 4???
So I’ll still have it but that’s one heck of a coincidence.

he had to have his heart removed you say @Isaidnomorecrisps?

Presumably the surgeons put his heart back (after disconnecting and reconnecting all the complicated veins and arteries..)? We need to know!

Blimey @AuroraSophia you have done well:

I’m now 29 and a single parent with two children. I’m now at uni studying something I never would have done straight out of school but it fits me perfect now

Amazing isn't it - and all since September this year. What a melt Grin

Question into the void

Has the CV board gone completely batshit since news of the omicron variant emerging and mandatory masks being brought back? Even more than usual?

I think the booster vaccination annoucement today might just finish it off.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 29/11/2021 20:01

@Whu020

Looks like I'm the only one saying no, nobody use to have flu vaccines especially not pregnant women, you weren't even allowed to take a paracetamol.
True true - we should always look backwards when attempting to improve medicine.

I'm wishing we could go back to 1950 before the Polio vaccine was available. Life was so much better then.

pointythings · 29/11/2021 20:26

ZZTopGuitarSolo and we must bring back humours. And if a child is born with the umbilical cord around the neck, the mother must be killed as she was clearly trying to murder it. Yeah, medical science in the past was sooooo great! Hmm

TheElvishQueen · 29/11/2021 20:39

Just read Neil Oliver’s article in the Sunday Times. I really admire him and enjoy his writing. He writes about ‘conspiracy theories’. Makes a lot of sense.

Bwix · 29/11/2021 20:51

I have just booked my third dose

Thank you NHS
Thank you Sarah Gilbert
Thank you Kate Bingham
Thank you Chris Witty and JVT

I am massively, massively grateful to live in a country where I’m offered this vaccine for free.

onedancewway · 29/11/2021 20:54

Yes, I am. I've had both my vaccines but won't be having a booster. Those saying they have a flu vaccine every year, if I were to have the booster, that would be 3 shots in less than a year. I don't know why but I don't feel comfortable with that.

Sorry should have said no, I'm not (not yes)

Absolutely. My friend who has a lifelong disability caused by the polio he caught as a child ardently agrees.

Had mine on Tuesday and spent the weekend moving around furniture, cleaning and generally doing more than I usually do in a week. I did feel a bit tired on Wednesday night, but that's more likely due to the 15,000 steps a day and the 15 hour working day on an average of 5 hours' sleep a night than anything else.

There are also normal colds (and flu) going round at the moment, too.

frumpety · 29/11/2021 21:36

I don't mind having whatever vaccines I am offered, obviously like any other sane person I would rather Covid wasn't an issue and we didn't need them, but it is, so we do.
Had the first two initial doses and a booster, had my flu jab at the same time as the booster. If I am offered another at some point in the future I will have it. And another as required. I will probably keep having to have them longer than the general population as I work in healthcare, but I hope we get to a point where, like the flu vaccine, we concentrate on those who need it and those who are most likely to spread it.

Surely a couple of days of feeling ill is worth it for the benefits of the vaccine, both on an individual and societal level?

Me too! I was so ill for months on end according to my Mum - she still feels guilty to this day that she didn't have me vaccinated.... cautionary tale right?

Yes it has. I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the contributers from the zapped State of Fear threads have made a reappearance.
BobbieT1999 · 29/11/2021 21:42

Of course I'll take new vaccines against covid if they're offered to me. A tiny injection every so often that would prevent me from ending up in ICU or worse? No contest.

Batshit in which way?

I see a variety.

Someone upthread said Neil Oliver had written a really good article in the Times explaining conspiracy theories. Is that because he’s really into them? Having said that I do have a soft spot for the man.

I see more batshit keenness for giving up ever inch of bodily autonomy. Mustn’t get too carried away with that idea though. Bit too heavy for Mumsnet.
