Natural immunity BBC article

This is not purely about natural immunity. But I thought it was interesting as this article puts natural immunity on an equal footing with vaccine immunity.

Also it is just interesting that natural immunity has been acknowledged at all.

Not sure what I'm trying to say. Perhaps just that if we could understand that both forms of immunity are important, and this could be discussed in the media more often, there may be less divide between the unvaxxed and vaxxed - and hostility between people in general.

I think everyone needs to get natural immunity eventually to get out of this. Vaccines will help so people can get it without getting seriously ill but reinfection after getting covid seems to be quite low.
Those who have recovered shouldn’t have to have the vaccine pushed on them.

If you’ve already had covid and survived, I’m pretty sure you already know you aren’t going to be hospitalised, because you’ve had it?[/quote]
Not necessarily. Most second infections will be milder, but not all, as this case report illustrates.

What reinfections mean for COVID-19

You could have a mild or asymptomatic infection the first time due to being exposed to a low viral load and develop limited natural immunity. A second exposure to a much higher viral load can then result in a much more serious case, as the report in the Lancet describes.

I think natural immunity is brilliant. We wouldn't exist as a species without it, and as I posted earlier, hybrid immunity seems to be the most robust of all. Vaccine-induced immunity is more consistent because the vaccine dosages are consistent.

Oh stop. Reinfections are very rare and more serious reinfections are even rarer. Honestly, some people really go out of their way to find the worst case scenarios.
