Took Dd to a birthday party. Half the kids cough were coughing and snotty. Part of the package I guess 🤢 I didn't let Dd go to a birthday party last week even after she had a negative pcr. She was clearly ill with cough and cold so didn't think it was right, she's fine now though.. But I feel like I'm the only one who feels the same regarding taking kids out when ill.

Anyway.. there was a dad there, didn't know him. Sat in a spare seat next to me. I realised he seemed quite clearly poorly. He coughed non stop, mainly into the air, he was sniffing, snorting, sneezing, rubbing his face and nose and grunting and moaning to himself - he just seemed ill, like he shouldn't be there. So I moved further away. I'm not saying I'm worried it's covid - that has crossed my mind of course - but even with a normal cold I find it quite selfish. He was there with a woman who was clearly his partner, why did he have to be there if the mum was there??

I'm just annoyed he sat next to me knowing he was ill tbh and I had to move! I wouldn't do this. Aibu? Am I just being ott??

I'm unsure why this post has been moved into covid. I mean I have no idea if the bloke had covid or not. Probably just a cold but still annoying. I would have posted this before covid-19 times too. 🤷‍♀️

@JimJamJolly

No you're not being unreasonable or OTT - some people don't care about spreading germs. My DH took kids to cinema today. Cinema about 1/3 full. 2 spare seats between my DH and another family sat in the same row. No one sat in the row infront and only 3 people in the row behind. A couple came and sat in the 2 spare seats between my DH and the other family. One of them was coughing and sneezing as she clearly had a cold. My DH and kids moved.
Why do people do this?

I disliked people being out with bugs etc BC. Just don't see why the need to spread it.
@Sayke that would take quite a few weeks (if you have a background in biology to degree level), and longer if you dont. Suffice to say (and luckily for humanity) your immune system doesn't get wiped, or shot to pieces, after a few weeks of isolation or semi isolation.
But it's not just a few weeks is it?

It's months upon months of not being around people in the same way, social distancing etc

If it's that hard to explain I doubt it makes much sense tbh

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

So you can say FFS to someone else and I can't call you patronising?

Fine. You've completely derailed this entire conversation to be about you anyway.

Enjoy. It's all yours.

I don't think having a different opinion constitutes a derailing.

I definitely wouldn't have gone to a party and coughed and spluttered over everyone regardless of whether it was not covid - no one wants your germs man! YANBU op.
