Vaccination card for booster

PheasantsNest · 08/11/2021 10:52

Are you supposed to be given a new card for a booster? My DH had his today and was told they only give them for first and second and not the booster. I was given one at a different vaccination centre.

@RockallMalinHebrides

This time with the photo.
Nope, mine just lists the medicines I am on or have previously been prescribed. Thanks though
Fiddlersgreen · 09/11/2021 08:12

My first two are in the covid passport bit but I have to scroll through all the PCRs and LFT results to find them.
I will call my GP today and see if they are able to access the proof that I had a booster

AnyFucker · 09/11/2021 08:36

Have you done anything about It yet?

I have raised it with NHS Digital who pass me back to my GP who said it was a national issue and not their problem

And round we go. I am waiting for my GP surgery to get back to me yet again after I have pushed it several times.

RobinsReliant · 09/11/2021 08:38

If you ask your GP surgery for access to the coded part of your record you will see all ‘events’ listed including brief records of interactions with your GP and vaccinations. Until I asked for access I couldn’t see any of this.

Leftbutcameback · 09/11/2021 08:40

Thanks to PP for pointing my to acute records - that's where the booster was recorded

Cookerhood · 09/11/2021 08:43

Each GP varies with the amount of information you have access to. For some it will be missing, the system isn't infallible.

sageandbasil · 09/11/2021 09:25

I got a new card with my booster

sproutsandparsnips · 09/11/2021 09:32

In Wales we are unable to access the nhs app. We have to get the pass via the nhs.uk app. My records show all the tests I have had and my first 2 vaccinations but not the booster which I received on 30 September. No idea whether it's supposed to show or not.....

PheasantsNest · 09/11/2021 09:35

Thanks everyone. I've just took my neighbour for her booster and asked for a card for my DH. The nurse got me one and filled it in.

If the vaccination centre hasn't entered the details, your GP won't know whether you have had the vaccine or not, and would be unable to update your records.

My record was entered by the vaccination centre, even includes the name of the nurse who administered the vaccine.

It doesn't appear in my medicine record, but in 'Consultations and events'.

From this thread, it would appear that it is being recorded in different places, there should be some standard.

Cookerhood · 09/11/2021 10:15

If it's not there you do need to go back to the vaccination centre. Most likely someone has"partially saved " it. There will be nothing the GP or any other vaccine centre can do about it. If they know what to do (& can be bothered) they will be able to find it - either partially saved, or properly saved but for some reason not gone to your GP record. It records all sorts of things - the person consenting you, the person drawing up the vaccine, the person giving it, time, arm etc etc. If any one of those things missed it will cause problems with saving it.

I agree you need to go back to the place that vaccinated you. They will be able to check that your vaccine was recorded and amend if needed - this will automatically update your vaccination status on the NHS App COVID pass (dose 1 and 2) or acute meds (booster / 3rd primary dose).

We cross reference every vaccine given at the end of the day to ensure they are properly recorded - I suspect that this is not done everywhere.

AnyFucker · 09/11/2021 12:32

It was my GP surgery that did the jab Hmm

Then it is absolutely your GPs issue to resolve. All sites have been recording on Outcomes4Health and this updates your NHS App and GP record. They can check back to see if your vaccines were recorded on O4H (it won't be).

No it isn't. It would help avoid these situations though.

AnyFucker · 09/11/2021 16:11

Thanks all. I have had a message from my GP surgery this afternoon that it has been added to my health record.
If anyone else is struggling, you will need to be persistent with the centre or GP practice that did your vaccine. I was fobbed off several times with the staff keep saying it was a “national problem” and nothing to do with them.

Cuck00soup · 09/11/2021 19:05

The official advice is to go to your GP practice If boosters aren't showing up in the app.

It's perhaps worth explaining that it's usually one of two issues though.

The first is if the record hasn't been saved by the vaccination centre. If this is the problem, you can contact the vaccine centre and ask them to correct your records which will then transfer over to your GP surgery.

A second issue can occur if the GP practice haven't enabled you to view your record. This should have happened automatically, but occasionally needs a manual override. (Which is what may have happened to AF).

You won't know which the issue, but I would recommend asking your practice if they can see it on your record. If they can see it and you can't then they need to give you the access.

With regard to passports "expiring" they last for 28 days once generated, but you can generate a new one anytime, even if your previous pass had not expired.

AnyFucker · 09/11/2021 20:13

I think what happened with me is simply that the GP practice where I had my jab failed to record it on their own system.

Cuck00soup · 09/11/2021 20:26

Ah. Wink

Cookerhood · 09/11/2021 20:28

It's not recorded on the GP system, it's recorded on the national system, wherever it's done & uploaded to your records. They will just have not completed the record properly at the time (either missed some information or not saved it correctly).

AnyFucker · 09/11/2021 20:36

Ok. It’s sorted now and I do sympathise due to the massive change the NHS has had to deal with over the last 18 months. ( I am part of it myself).

rb124 · 09/11/2021 20:45

Well I got a new card when I had my booster on Saturday. It's listed under "Immunisations" on the NHS app, but it's not on the "Covid Passport".

user1471467679 · 13/11/2021 20:27

My son had his done at college about two months ago and it has not appeared yet. The GP has no record. We applied for a paper certificate and got a message to say there is no record of it. We can’t go back to the vaccine site as it was a pop up. I have contacted 119 three times and each time they promise to get back to me (and haven’t). We have had to cancel travel plans and he can’t visit family abroad. It is a nightmare.

MercyBooth · 14/11/2021 00:28

Why the media blackout on the shortage of Moderna and the fact that they now cant be mixed so some of us are unable to access our second vaccines.

Cookerhood · 14/11/2021 08:46

Is there? I've had Moderna as my booster. They never ordered as much as the other vaccines. One of the situations where mixing us allowed is non availability of the same one. Have a look in the Green book:
