I have to take DC2 to a walk-through test centre later. It says you need to bring photo ID, a passport or driving licence. I don't have that, and she definitely doesn't because she is 7. Will it matter? Surely I am not the only person in that situation?

I had to show ID when I went to the test centre. However, you can do a home pcr test without any ID if that helps?

Soverytiredtoday · 30/10/2021 10:06

We took it but were never asked for it

Hothammock · 30/10/2021 10:08

I've been several times and I've never been asked for ID. They do ask to see the booking email or text.

Neolara · 30/10/2021 10:08

I've never been asked for it. I've just had to show the we code I was sent when I booked the appointment.

appleturnovers · 30/10/2021 10:09

We went the other day and they didn’t ask for ID.

FawnFrenchieMum · 30/10/2021 10:10

Between me & the kids we’ve had loads and never once been asked to show ID.

DanglingMod · 30/10/2021 10:10

Have had 6 PCRs and never been asked for ID, just the barcode on my phone from the booking email.

Iggly · 30/10/2021 10:10

I went the other day and they did ask for my drivers license but previously they hadn’t.

Artie30 · 30/10/2021 10:11

Never been asked for Id for my children but when I tested myself last year (only been tested once) I was asked to show id so based on the fact it's for your children, I would say no you don't need it.

frogsbreath · 30/10/2021 10:11

I didn't have to show ID for me or my Ds, just hold up my phone with the qr code on it for them to scan

Draggondragon · 30/10/2021 10:12

How do they know who you are if you don't have ID? Only in the UK Hmm

itsgettingwierd · 30/10/2021 10:15

Our ID was the text or email confirming you'd booked.

Seeline · 30/10/2021 10:16

Do you have to book a slot for a walk through? If so you'll have the booking reference. I've only done drive throughs for both me and DD and only ever been asked for the QR code on my phone. I suppose if you don't have that, you could be asked. Take a copy of a bill or similar just in case?

Yes, it is a booked slot so I have a QR code etc. I will take everything I have that might help for ID (out of date passport, letter from a bank, work ID pass) just in case.

I've been to the drive through test centre loads and only ever been asked for the QR code on the email confirmation.

DriftingPlateTectonic · 30/10/2021 12:47

Wasn't asked for ID yesterday

Simplelobsterhat · 30/10/2021 12:51

We've been to drive through centres loads of times between us and never been asked for it, despite the booking email always telling us to bring it. I doubt they ever worry about kids as so many won't have any photo I'd.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/10/2021 12:52

Only 1 drive through test, long time ago, for then 16 year old. No ID asked for.

Gunpowder · 30/10/2021 12:52

Have taken the kids for at least 20, maybe 30 tests and never ever been asked. We always show the QR code though.

Whistleforthechoir · 30/10/2021 12:54

Never shown ID , just the QR code

ArchwizardTVampirebat · 30/10/2021 12:56

I've had two and never been asked for it. They just scanned the code on my phone.

Doublechins · 30/10/2021 12:56

I've never been asked for ID and I've been many times at different test centres

MsSquiz · 30/10/2021 12:57

We've been twice for pcr tests for DH, me and under 2 year old DD. They've only ever asked to see the confirmation text for the booking. We've never taken id

SchoolForScoundrels · 30/10/2021 12:59

I've been for a few, they did ask for ID last year, but don't seem to do that any more. Took DD this week and we were only asked for the QR code

Sparkle275 · 30/10/2021 13:10

We've never been asked for ID at the test centre. The very first time we went to the test centre it said about ID on the booking so I phoned the covid line and they said a birth certificate would be enough for a child but we've never been asked. They only ask for the booking QR code.
