Do you get PCR tests quite regularly?

Is a claim made on another thread. Suppose "quite regularly" means at least once every 3 months. Does that describe you?

I've had 2 PCRs and my DH has had 1 so not regular for us.

Shelovesamystery · 19/10/2021 01:08

Neither me nor DH have ever had a PCR, we have done LF's though. DS has had 2 PCRs and DD has had 1. So no, definitely not regularly.

Sparkle275 · 19/10/2021 06:16

I've never had any symptoms to have one but we've been backwards and forwards every few months since the pandemic started with our 3 kids. Thankfully all have been negative.

RobinPenguins · 19/10/2021 06:20

I’ve done one PCR this whole time. Loads of lateral flow.

motherrunner · 19/10/2021 06:21

Twice weekly LFT and maybe 5/6 PCRs (teacher).

LivinLaVidaLoki · 19/10/2021 06:30

3 in this whole time.
1 when ds had symptoms we took him for one and they were doing surge testing so dh and I had one too.
Then 2 when we returned from Greece this year (2 different trips).

saltontoast · 19/10/2021 06:41

I've been about once a month. Symptoms, pregnancy so needed one prior to csection, exposed to someone who was positive, toddler in the house with symptoms

Stuffin · 19/10/2021 06:42

No and no lft either.

Had PCR only when DH had symptoms and tested positive early this year.

ElftonWednesday · 19/10/2021 06:45

Not regularly, but we've ended up doing several recently in short order. Both DDs close friends have had Covid, we had colds but wanted to check it wasn't Covid, and did one because the school asked pupils and families to have one.

bunnybuggs · 19/10/2021 06:51

@MargaretThursday I did at one point think that if I knew why I had a headache/migraine (I know my triggers) then maybe I shouldn't do them, but then thought that if you never do them unless you think it is covid then it may not be as good for their statistics.
If I understand what you are saying - it was keeping the statistics 'good' that made it necessary. No wonder the number of tests are high Shock

antsinyourpanta · 19/10/2021 07:17

I've had 4 since last summer, DS and DD have had one each. DH hasn't had one.

I've never had any of the 3 "classic" symptoms though. I've taken them because if the zoe app, because I had a cold, and because I'd been a close contact.

antsinyourpanta · 19/10/2021 07:18

We still do LFTs twice a week.

HelloDulling · 19/10/2021 07:20

One, about a month ago, when DD was positive. Do an LFT often though.

makelovenotpetrol · 19/10/2021 07:21

No barely any. I do LFTs though for work.

ColettesEarrings · 19/10/2021 07:24

Only one of the four of us had ever had one. That was as a close contact at school.

Both kids do their twice weekly lfts religiously. I've stopped doing that as a parent. Dh has never done them.

WarriorN · 19/10/2021 07:25

Yes as every single cold triggers my cough variant asthma so I get a dry cough.

I have small kids and work in a school so they're all permanently bringing me colds.

WarriorN · 19/10/2021 07:26

Do lft on top and getting quite sick of it all tbh!

MistyFrequencies · 19/10/2021 07:27

Me & the kids have had 3 each since March 2020. Husband has had one.

whatswithtodaytoday · 19/10/2021 08:44

I've done loads, maybe 12 now I think? I have a two year old in nursery who gives me all the bugs. All negative so far. Just booked another for today as I've started coughing and feel achey with a sore throat. Child had a sickness bug over the weekend.

3asAbird · 20/10/2021 06:23

Not very often then lots at once as we all been ill , cases have risen and people we know have covid.

I hate pcr tests so try and avoid if necessary I do regular lft.
Cant imagine regularly pcr testing just in case.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/10/2021 07:36

No. I've had 2 PCR tests this entire pandemic. Second one I did in August which was positive so I should have some immunity for a while. I've stopped bothering with LFTs as well since I had Covid.

AutumnLeafy · 20/10/2021 07:37

I have lost track of the number of PCR tests we've done as a family. LO has to do them frequently for nursery as just picks up all the bugs. And then we all had the really bad cold and the GP got us to retest as wanted to make sure it wasn't covid.
