Do you get PCR tests quite regularly?

Is a claim made on another thread. Suppose "quite regularly" means at least once every 3 months. Does that describe you?

OP posts:

I'm having one a week at the moment due to taking part in the ONS study. I've had about 3 Paces separate to that in the last couple of months, one due to symptoms, one due to a false positive on a LFT and one due to close contact and be being single vaccine dosed.

Whatdoyawannado · 18/10/2021 20:45

PCRs, not Paces.....

SonnetForSpring · 18/10/2021 20:51

We have about 1 every 3 weeks since kids went back to school. Latest ones are positive

Nuttymonkey · 18/10/2021 21:07

Yes because we have under 5s on the house who seem to get temperatures or coughs from one virus or another every 3 or 4 weeks and then pass it round the family!

BitterTits · 18/10/2021 21:10

I have between 10 and 15 covid positive secondary school age pupils in my classroom every week - for some reason.nostly.the ones at the front. Yes I PCR fairly regularly.

I don't know why it's ok for me to be in this situation tbh.

Theunamedcat · 18/10/2021 21:12

Ds had one a week last Thursday and last Friday at the schools request there are so many positive cases in his year they are ALL close contacts now so its daily lateral flow tests and weekly pcr tests

Theregoesmyhomebirth · 18/10/2021 21:13

Yep. Ex smoker so any whiff of an infection goes straight to my chest. My last PCR the woman at the drive through centre looked at my passenger seat stocked with baby wipes, mask, hand gel etc and said "ooh, you've been here before!".
DH will catch the same viruses as me and they make him snotty so he's done barely any in comparison.

Buzzinwithbez · 18/10/2021 21:20

I've never had any symptoms so have never tested. Nor have I been knowingly in contact with anyone with it.

EducatingArti · 18/10/2021 21:25

About every fortnight right now. Either because one of the teenagers I tutor gets it and I have recently spent an hour face-to-face with them or because I have got another random virus that gives symptoms like a cough. I'm just getting over my second cold since beginning of September.

gogohm · 18/10/2021 21:26

I've not had one

dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 21:27

None of my family have had to have a PCR so far

TumtumTree · 18/10/2021 21:30

I've only had one due to close contact. I haven't had Covid symptoms so haven't had to test for that reason.

kowari · 18/10/2021 21:33

I've had two due to being a close contact at work. I haven't had any covid or cold symptoms since March 2020 (covid as I still have antibodies) so no other reason to get one.

NavigatingAdolescence · 18/10/2021 21:34

Had my first one last weekend after travelling abroad.

Pretty amazing considering I work in the NHS.

bloodywhitecat · 18/10/2021 21:34

Never had a PCR but have done weekly LFTs. DH has had quite a few PCRs but no LFTs.

EileenGC · 18/10/2021 21:39

Up until August I was having 3 a week, compulsory at work.

Since then I’ve been having one every few weeks, every time I fly over to the UK. That will too stop from next week, when they stop being compulsory for incoming passengers.

thaegumathteth · 18/10/2021 21:42

Had my first one last week as ds tested positive. Ds has had 2 before then and dd has had 3 all due to symptoms and one close contact

MargaretThursday · 18/10/2021 21:44

I'm on the Zoe app, and they seem to ask you to do a pcr with various symptoms including headaches-which I get a fair number. I'd guess I end up doing 1-2 a month.

I did at one point think that if I knew why I had a headache/migraine (I know my triggers) then maybe I shouldn't do them, but then thought that if you never do them unless you think it is covid then it may not be as good for their statistics.
However I don't normally do a second one within a short length of time if it's similar symptoms.

AnnaSW1 · 18/10/2021 21:48

Haven't had even one yet

Lazypuppy · 18/10/2021 21:49

Never had 1

XenoBitch · 18/10/2021 21:49

No, none at all. Not had any symptoms, and not been in contact with anyone who has tested positive.

bananafruitcake · 18/10/2021 21:50

Once when son and husband were positive

POPGoesTheBandit · 18/10/2021 21:51

Yep. Once a week and 2 lft a week due to working in care

treacletartpudding · 18/10/2021 22:04

I have 2 a week for my job. Also very regular lateral flow tests.

pombal · 18/10/2021 22:09

One a week and 2 LFT’s for work.
It’s quality family time, the kids doing their LFT’s for school, and me doing mine for work round the breakfast table.
Making memories COVID style, what could be better Grin
