Age 12-15, are they now 'fully vaxcinated' after one jab?

My son age 14 has had one dose of Pfizer at school and apparently that age group are only getting one. Does that mean he will be classed as "fully vaccinated" for travel to Europe and will no longer have to do fit to fly pre departure PCRs?

So how do UK kids provide proof???

DorotheaDiamond · 20/10/2021 09:10

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/italy/entry-requirements

“ Children
Children under 18 do not need to quarantine if they are travelling with a fully vaccinated parent and (for those over the age of 6) have a negative test.

Children under the age of 6 are exempt from testing.”

Go through the entry questionnaire here

infocovid.viaggiaresicuri.it/returningtoitaly.html

And you get

“In accordance with Order of July 29, 2021 and Order of August 28, 2021 adopted by the Minister of Health, in force until October 25, 2021, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (including Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, Channel Islands and British bases on the island of Cyprus) falls into List D (click on the blue button on top of the page for the complete Lists of Countries and Territories).

Travellers coming from the UK or who have visited/transited the UK in the previous fourteen (14) days, must:

fill out a digital Passenger Locator Form (only in case of lack of necessary tools to fill out the dPLF, you can use a paper-based self-declaration) and present it to the carrier or any other authorised person, either printed or on one's mobile device.
present to the carrier, or any other authorised person, a certificate of vaccination stating that the cycle of vaccination has been completed with an EMA-athorised vaccine or a EU Green Pass proving the same;
take a molecular or antigenic test, carried out by means of a swab and with negative result, in the 48 hours before they arrive.
In case of lack of the certifications under points 2 and 3 (which are not alternative), travellers may still enter Italy but they must:

self-isolate for five (5) days, activating local health surveillance procedures by informing Local Health Authorities.
get tested again, upon completing the prescribed self-isolation.
Border Officers in Italy may always request that you fill out a paper-based self-statement upon arrival.

ENTRY OF MINORS

In addition to cases of exemption already mentioned in the relevant paragraph:

Molecular or antigenic test
Children from 0 to 5 years of age do not have to undergo a molecular or antigenic test.
From 6 up to 17 years of age: the test is mandatory, if requested according to the relevant rules depending on the history of travel in the 14 days prior to entering Italy.
Self-isolation
From 0 to 17 years of age, minors are exempt from the requirement of self-isolation if they are accompanied by a parent who is also exempt from such requirement because of the possession of a certificate of vaccination (or a certificate of recovery, if applicable based on the history of travel in the previous 14 days).

We are in Italy for half term. The kids didn’t need to quarantine, we all just had to do lateral flow.

Runforthehillocks · 27/10/2021 20:56

And what happens if your child tests positive on one of these lateral flow tests or pcr tests while in France, or Italy, for example? Are you then stuck there for a while having to quarantine?

lateforschool · 27/10/2021 21:43

Yes

Mumof3cherubs · 27/10/2021 21:47

The lateral flow tests were done before we left . Had to be within 48hrs of arrival. We have to do a day 2 lateral flow when we return.

winterisaroundthecorner · 27/10/2021 22:00

I was just watching the news from my native country. Since now US is vaccinating 5-11, my country is trying to approve vaxx for that age group too. And they are getting 2 shots.
UK is an exception. Hopefully they give the choice to those who wants to get 2 shots here too.

DorotheaDiamond · 29/10/2021 08:46

@Mumof3cherubs can I ask who you used for the lateral flow tests? I'm trying to find out if the QR code that you get from them (that you show at the airport) can be recognised by the app the italians use for restaurant entry....

DorotheaDiamond · 29/10/2021 08:48

@Runforthehillocks yes you are stuck until you all test negative I think - although there must be some allowance somewhere for the fact you don't have to retest within 90 days - make sure your travel insurance covers you to stay if that happens!

Mumof3cherubs · 01/11/2021 21:42

@doro we used chronomics, but I think you’d need to do a local test to get the green pass. We saw quite a few pharmacies offering them but not all, although the one time we ate inside a restaurant we were not asked to show evidence of vaccination. Museums were more thorough .
