Age 12-15, are they now 'fully vaxcinated' after one jab?

My son age 14 has had one dose of Pfizer at school and apparently that age group are only getting one. Does that mean he will be classed as "fully vaccinated" for travel to Europe and will no longer have to do fit to fly pre departure PCRs?

Maybe better to look at the tables that come after that where more unvaccinated people need hospital treatment and more unvaccinated people are dying.

That table was quite staggering in the difference it made. It really reinforced just how effective the vaccines are

Sagaaaats · 18/10/2021 17:51

But shows that the cases are in the VACCINATED

dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 17:52

Who cares about the cases as long as they aren't needing hospital care and aren't dying.

QuebecHouse · 18/10/2021 17:57

@Sagaaaats

Literally double the cases in the vaxxed in all ages 30+. Per 100,000
Any chance you can post the table immediately after the one in your link, which clearly shows that vaccinated people of all ages are not needing emergency care in any where near the same rate as unvaccinated people?

The stats clearly show that being double vaccinated means you're far less likely to need hospitalisation.

QuebecHouse · 18/10/2021 18:01

And the table below that shows that vaccinated people are far less likely to die than unvaccinated people.

dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 18:02

Hmm looks like vaccination helps prevent hospitalisations and death

Always link to the official data

It's the only way![/quote]
But only show the bits of the official data that suit your narrative.

Wtfdoipick · 18/10/2021 18:10

I do wonder if the lower rates in unvaccinated are due more to covid denial and just refusing to test rather than a genuinely lower rate 🤔 Do we know the relative positivity rates for the different groups?

Sagaaaats · 18/10/2021 18:16

Jeesh

Not denying the fact about deaths/ hospitalisations

If you care to read my ORIGINAL post I stated that Vaccine passports should not be used because the cases are now In the VACCINATED

Making VACCINE passports obsolete

Bash head against wall

Making VACCINE passports obsolete

How do you suggest we make other countries give up vaccine passports which is what this thread is about.

No idea But here we have a situation where children/ people have to get vaccinated to go abroad/ visit a restaurant.
dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 18:25

The vaccine still reduces your chances of getting covid and of spreading covid if you read the link you provided.

JKDinomum · 18/10/2021 18:30

No it's shit. France say that one jab plus proof of having had Covid counts as fully vax. So I thought my daughter would be ok. But the UK covid app is only available to over 18s so I can't prove it to the French. Argh.

Sagaaaats · 18/10/2021 18:44

Flipping heck

The vaccine still reduces your chances of getting covid and of spreading covid if you read the link you provided

No it doesn't the table clearly shows that the cases per 100,000 people is higher in the VACCINATED than the UNVACCINATED in all age groups 30+

Example age 40-49 VACCINATED figure 1281.8
UNVACCINATED figure 690.2

More in the VACCINATED per 100,000 people

Therefore it does NOT prevent getting it or spreading it.
The data is given by PHE
This is NOT about deaths/ hospitalisation it's about CASES

Sagaaaats · 18/10/2021 18:46

The table again

Age 12-15, are they now 'fully vaxcinated' after one jab?
dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 18:50

Did you read your link?!

After 2 doses, observed vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic disease with the Delta variant reaches approximately 65 to 70% with AstraZeneca Vaxzevria and 80 to 95% with Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna Spikevax (3, 4)

With the delta variant, vaccine effectiveness against infection has been estimated at around 65% with Vaxzevria and 80% with Comirnaty

An analysis from the ONS Community Infection Survey found that contacts of vaccinated index cases had around 65-80% reduced odds of testing positive with the Alpha variant and 35-65% reduced odds of testing positive with the Delta variant compare to contacts of unvaccinated index cases

dementedpixie · 18/10/2021 18:51

@Sagaaaats

The table again
I dont really give a crap about the table tbh
Sagaaaats · 18/10/2021 18:52

Apologies that should read

Example age 40-49 VACCINATED figure 1455.8
UNVACCINATED figure 696.2

Sagaaaats · 18/10/2021 18:56

You are forgetting that the vaccination wanes over time

Those figures are what you get when 1st vaccinated
If they were still correct people wouldn't need boosters

The table above shows cases NOW because immunity is waning

Sorry that was meant to be a reply to people looking for info on Italy.

A minefield of Covid restrictions on the continent leaves young travellers from the UK facing regular testing on holidays in order to eat in a restaurant or go swimming in a hotel pool

Families skiing in Europe face forking out for hundreds of pounds worth of daily Covid tests while on holiday this winter.

In all four major ski destinations currently open to UK families – Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland – Covid passports are soon to be, or are already, mandatory for everything from eating in a restaurant to swimming in the hotel pool.

Covid passports, which differ from nation to nation but usually involve downloading an app, are easily obtained through proof of vaccination.

However, for travellers aged 12-to-15, who under current UK vaccination policy are unable to get a second jab and become fully vaccinated, the only way to obtain a Covid passport (besides proof of a recent past infection) is to provide proof of a negative test result at repeated intervals throughout a holiday.

Under Austria’s “Entry Test” system, mandatory for entry to most places for all aged 12 and up, an antigen test grants just 24 hours of validation, and PCR tests 72 hours.

Setting aside the discomfort and inconvenience, the cost of an antigen test every day for a week on holiday in Austria would be around £150 per child.

In France, the cost of the three tests, taken every two days in order to top up the vaccine status on the French pass sanitaire “health pass” app, would be around £65.

The Covid passport app (which can also be presented in paper form) is mandatory for children aged 12 and over from 30 September for activities including access to hotels pools, long distance transport and eating or drinking outdoors at a cafe or restaurant.

In Italy, a negative antigen test result will grant a Green Pass (mandatory for most activities for those aged 12 and over) for 72 hours, allowing youngsters the same status as their fully vaccinated parents for just three days at a time.

Meanwhile, in Switzerland, the alpine nation currently suffering the worst Covid outbreak, the problem is flipped on its head and parents must submit to testing.

Proof of a UK vaccination status either on paper or via the NHS app is not accepted for use by Switzerland’s Covid Certificate app, which is mandatory for all those over the age of 16. Therefore PCR tests, valid for 72 hours, or antigen tests, valid for 48 hours, or proof of recent recovery, must be used to gain the pass.

Differing vaccination levels across the world creates a minefield of restrictions for young British travellers who are unable to obtain full vaccination status under the UK’s current vaccine rollout plan. The Government has so far only stated an intention to offer a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine to children aged 12 to 15, a policy which is already keeping young people locked out of many countries.

In terms of ski destinations alone, unvaccinated young holidaymakers of a certain age will find themselves barred from entry to Germany, Canada and Finland. Germany offers no provision for unvaccinated holidaymakers aged 12 and over to enter. Canada requires 14 days of quarantine for anyone aged 12 and over who is not double-jabbed. Finland will only accept unvaccinated travellers born in 2006 or later, meaning that most 15-year-olds would fall down the bureaucratic crack of not being vaccinated while also not being young enough to be exempt from the rule. They will not be able to enter the country this winter

And just to add ... Countries like Croatia your vaccine passport only lasts 1 year
So if like me (I am double vaxxed ). Since may means I can't go to Croatia next July to my vaccine status expiring

Caspianberg · 18/10/2021 21:06

@Sagaaaats - it’s 360 days in Austria also. I think it’s a year only in most Eu countries tbh. At the moment that is. It used to be 9 months here but they changed recently as those vaccinated in January would have already run out otherwise.

lateforschool · 20/10/2021 08:24

We have a home in Italy but are not Italian citizens or residents. My children can’t come with me as they are single vax and have to therefore quarantine and test every two days if they want to go into any restaurants museums or public transport
