Everyone who has had Covid in last couple of months, had you been vaccinated?

Just wondering how likely I will be to get it. My 12 year old has it but he is away at school and came home on Saturday and when I tested him Sunday before going back to school he tested positive. Since then he has been in one room and using a different bathroom. I probably had close contact (ie same room, eating together and watching TV together) with him over the weekend for 3 to 4 hours maximum. I am literally avoiding him like the plague now and delivering all meals and both wearing masks if he comes out of the room. He doesn't feel ill at all and is quite enjoying the peace and quiet and computer game time I think!

I had it in September, been fully vaccinated since July.

DH and DS both had it end of August. DH and I both fully vaccinated, DS not. We know it came from DS due to notifications from holiday club. I never got it despite making no significant efforts to isolate from them, so you have a chance.

16yo DD had it. Both DH and I were double vaccinated. I got it, he has managed to swerve it so far, and probably will now as dd's isolation ends tomorrow and mine ends at the weekend.

Lots of dd's friends have had it recently. In some cases, one or both parents got it, in others they didn't. All double jabbed.

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. I know people who didn't isolate from their kids at all who didn't get it, and others who were super careful but did.

Keep the house well ventilated if you can, and carry on washing your hands.

Dh and dd didn't get it from me and I didn't isolate from them.

There's no way to tell how likely anyone is to catch covid vaccinated or not. It's the same as it's been since the start, be as careful as you can to keep the risk low but I think we all know by now that's it's an unpredictable virus

I dont know any adults who aren't double jabbed so everyone I know who has it had for at least the last 3 months has been vaccinated, I'd guess it must be the same for everyone with such a high vaccination rate

I’d say the majority on the covid boards are jabbed so would be hard to compare with unvaccinated.

I’m not vaccinated and never had it even being in extensive close contact with symptomatic positives on several occasions.

Had it in August, I was single jabbed.

Child 1 had it Oct 2020
Husband and I both double jabbed by April 2021
Child 2 had it July 2021
I got it Aug 2021
Husband has not had it.

I caught it and am doubled jabbed. I didn’t isolate from my child though, I wouldn’t ever do that. It was fine, I felt ok, just a head cold which needed a bit of decongestant so I could sleep nothing more

Fully vaccinated in March, tested positive in September. Whole family got it apart from youngest DD

Me and Dh (both fully vaccinated) and ds1 both caught it from ds2. Dh thought he had avoided it as he tested negative initially so he moved out to an empty house we have, however a couple of days later he tested positive.

Hi had my 2 vaccine in may and tested positive last month. Bad headache but much the same as a bad head cold. DH not vaccinated, tested positive the same time as me and ended up in hospital with covid pneumonia.

Ds had it last month. We didn't bother isolating within the home, I'm not going to confine an 11 year old to his room.

No-one else got it. Dh and I double jabbed but dd not vaxxed at all.

I did daily LFTs and went to work every day after my negative PCR.

My disabled son and my mum who is 75 both had it after being double jabbed. Son was a bit fluey; mum had loss of smell. All ok now.

I’m double jabbed with Pfizer, currently got covid.

DH hasn’t caught it yet, vaccinated on the same days, same time as me.

Unvaccinated children haven’t caught it yet either..

There is still time though. I guess we’ll see this kinda time next week!

userperuser same. Can only assume I must be immune from previous infection, though I have no idea when that might have been.

Hopefully everyone has had it relatively mildly due to their jabs. If the jab has that effect, in my mind it has been a success.

I guess the question is if those with underlying health conditions or who are significantly obse or have other risk factors get it severely if double jabbed. Hopefully it's much milder for them with far less hospitalisation and death.

I'm recovering slowly, get breathless if I do too much and the brain fog is awful.

Taste and smell are back but I quite often smell smoke, very odd!

Gosh, that's awful @Bubbublish. Thank goodness you had had the jabs. Glad to hear that you're recovering.

Yes, I got is about 2 months after my second jab, I felt a bit rough for a couple of days but nothing that kept me off work. I live with my husband and 2 adult children and they were all also fully vaccinated and didn't catch it off me though.

Genuinely think it is luck if you catch it! I know families where the adults are double vaccinated and they’ve all caught it in the household and I know families that parents aren’t vaccinated and only one adult/neither has caught it! No predicting it unfortunately!

Nearly everyone catching it now is fully vaccinated, but statistically you are a) less likely to catch it, b) much less likely to be seriously ill and c) much much less likely to die.

You may still feel quite rough, and your risk of long covid is about half.
