Everyone who has had Covid in last couple of months, had you been vaccinated?

Just wondering how likely I will be to get it. My 12 year old has it but he is away at school and came home on Saturday and when I tested him Sunday before going back to school he tested positive. Since then he has been in one room and using a different bathroom. I probably had close contact (ie same room, eating together and watching TV together) with him over the weekend for 3 to 4 hours maximum. I am literally avoiding him like the plague now and delivering all meals and both wearing masks if he comes out of the room. He doesn't feel ill at all and is quite enjoying the peace and quiet and computer game time I think!

Dh and I both jabbed. Caught from DS.
Both have had a rough time with it.

I know double jabbed who've had no symptoms, those you've had a bad time.
I know a couple who caught it from their son. One is clinically vulnerable and only had a sore throat yet her husband whose healthy was really rough.

Seems no logic to it.

Jackieweaverishere · 13/10/2021 20:10

Double jabbed in March, just caught it 2 weeks ago. It was a bad cold / mild flu type illness for me, but still very tired now.

No-one I've been in contact with has caught it off me.

RavingAnnie · 13/10/2021 20:11

Yes me and my DH a couple of months ago. We were really really ill with it (not hospital ill, flu ill). I was off work for three weeks.

My son and his GF have just had it. Off work for a week and are now ok. Sounds like they had heavy cold type symptoms. Very tired.

We were all double jabbed. Three of us with Pfizer and one AZ.

LittleMachine · 13/10/2021 20:29

Yes, I was double vaccinated by May, and had covid in September. I was really pretty ill but I've been more ill with the flu and norovirus in the past.

Hottubtimemachine · 13/10/2021 20:42

Double vaccinated and had the booster. Got covid right now.

DietCokeChipsAndMayo · 13/10/2021 20:46

Been double jabbed since May, caught Covid in August
I didn’t isolate in the home and my unvaccinated partner nor any of our 4 children caught it
I’d also been in contact with my parents unknowingly who are also double jabbed and didn’t catch it
I think it’s luck of the draw 🤷🏻‍♀️

FlagsareFun · 13/10/2021 22:11

Your son is 12, home from school so away from his normal support system and ill and you are making him isolate from his family. Are you on the current shielding list or clinically extremely vulnerable?

tiddlysquat · 13/10/2021 22:16

Double jabbed and 13 year old dd has it, she felt shit so we snuggled on the sofa and she slept in my bed. Yes I caught it and it was grim but basically a cold/flu thing. I'd never have isolated from her though.

middleager · 13/10/2021 22:56

Yes. 48, last jab June.
Covid was enough to lay me up in bed for days and three weeks on I feel dreadful with ongoing symptoms.

elfycat · 13/10/2021 23:01

Double jabbed since June. Caught Covid off my 10 year old 4 weeks ago. She was OK. I was flu-like and a bit of a zombie. Just about managed to feed everyone and then go back to bed. I'm still coughing, wheezy and tired 2 weeks after my isolation ended. It's getting better.

DD2 had a day off today because she just looked pale and knackered. I'm not pushing her at all. If she needs a zombie day she can have one.

Surely as he is at home......... with his support system (his family!) just a few metres away thats the ideal place to be. By keeping their distance just for a few days............ thats not going to do him any harm at all (the op says hes actually enjoying it!) If by spending time with his parents and they end up with covid too - how will that help him? Not being on the shielding list/cev doesnt mean covid wont experience covid - plenty previously totally healthy people seem to experience pretty awful covid symptoms for a couple of weeks or more. Best avoided I think - parents better able to care for their children, 12yo with covid perfectly happy hanging out in their room and back to school asap.
ArianaG · 14/10/2021 07:02

Myself, husband and Dad all got it double vaccinated.

TheVampiresWife · 14/10/2021 07:19

Fully vaxxed since June, DH since early August, had covid last March, both caught it again at the end of August. We were asymptomatic though. DH was pretty ill with it last March (I was fairly unwell but not as bad as him) and I'm CV so it was really reassuring to see the vaccines in action. Thank goodness for them.

Twixxed · 14/10/2021 07:22

DD had it and is too young to isolate from us. We didn't get it - both had been recently fully vaccinated.

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 14/10/2021 07:47

No-one else in our family got it when one of the DC was isolating at home.

cricketmum84 · 14/10/2021 07:47

My sister had it in July, she's still poorly now. She had had her first jab in early June and second was delayed until last week.

rubyslippers · 14/10/2021 07:50

DH - double vaxxed and got Covid
Me - double vaxxed didn’t

toolatetooearly · 14/10/2021 07:51

DS (11) had it 3 weeks ago - it didn't even occur to us to isolate him from us. Vaccinated DH caught it from him - but again same, no isolating within the house. I didnt catch it however, and neither did DD (7). Neither DS or DH were very ill, just a bit tired.

FindingMeno · 14/10/2021 07:55

I've got it at the moment.
Double vaccinated.
Feel pretty crap but so grateful I've had the vaccinations before getting it. I don't have the fear factor because I know I will be OK despite being CV.

FlagsareFun · 14/10/2021 07:59

@Notebooksarefabulous it sounded like he is normally a boarder, so his normal support system would be fellow boarders and school pastoral team. If his family is his support why is he in a room on his own? Isolation is bad enough with a whole house to explore, being able to spend time in the garden etc. He’s far more more likely to get seriously ill sat breathing in covid germs all day not able to move around or get out in the fresh air.

NautaOcts · 14/10/2021 08:01

Yes lots of people are getting it who have been vaccinated.
Commonly, via children or young people.
Guy from the Imperial react study was on radio 4 this morning. He said they estimate that being double vaccinated is giving about 60% protection from getting it (I was surprised it was that high, just from people I know) but very high protection from it being a serious illness.

FabricedeSauveterre · 14/10/2021 08:03

Yes double vaccinated partner got it this week, he was double vaccinated by July. Mild cold symptoms. I’m double vaccinated plus already had Covid in March 2020 and I’ve not caught it.

Fashionesta · 14/10/2021 08:05

Currently have it. Second dose given in May. It's like a bad cold and I do wonder if symptoms are lessened by having it

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/10/2021 08:25

Dh and I didn't get it from ds, we ate in the garden together but he stayed in his room.
