LF test and PCR test

Positive LF test yesterday. Went for PCR. Has just come back negative. No symptoms. I assume I just carry on my merry way and ignore the LF result?

Hard to say how many days! First positive LF was Saturday. Symptoms started Tuesday. Not quite sure which day I start from 🤷‍♀️ Am not too bad thanks.

I think you can fairly safely isolate based on the LF+ counting Saturday as day 0, so Monday is day 1, Tuesday day 2 etc.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yellowmellow2 · 14/10/2021 17:46

Thank you. I’m still testing positive on LF tests (just intrigued now) so that’s four so far. Still waiting for third PCR to come back.

@Yellowmellow2 hi OP I'm in the north west. 6 positive lateral flows and 2 negative PCR. It's all very strange

ConadSmith · 14/10/2021 17:56

Have all you PCRs been postal, because apparently the LFT positive PCR negative problem is possibly common to one of the labs in the southwest. People who then go to a drive through test site are getting a positive PCR as these samples go to a different lab.

Yellowmellow2 · 14/10/2021 17:58

I’m in London. Did two PCRs at the same site which were negative. I sent third one off and am waiting for that. I didn’t put the tube in the inner bag though so they may reject it 🤦🏻‍♀️

@ConadSmith Are you unwell too?

OP posts:
ConadSmith · 14/10/2021 18:02

Postal PCRs or drive thru?

Yellowmellow2 · 14/10/2021 18:09

Sorry, meant @saltontoast - are you feeling unwell?

@ConadSmith

Postal PCRs or drive thru?
Postal

Try going to a drive through site for a PCR.

Yellowmellow2 · 14/10/2021 19:00

Ok. That could be an excuse to get out the house tomorrow!

We've had the exact opposite experience @ConadSmith. Drive-thru PCRs are the ones coming back negative and postal are coming back positive. This has been the case in all of the cases I'm aware of (work in a school) plus our own household. My DC had 3 or 4 (lost track!) negative PCRs from drive-in centres and persistent positive LFTs. Then got a positive on a postal test.

@GruntBaby
I just wanted to say thanks for the explanation about the tests above.

It was really helpful and easy to understand.

DaxtheDestroyer · 15/10/2021 14:35

Finally some action on it!

Yes! Nice to know I wasn’t imagining things. It’s definitely the case.

@ are you drinking before you test with the lateral flow or PCR doing your throat? Just because you shouldn't eat or drink for 30 mins before doing your throat so my DH tells me and he's been doing PCR for work twice a week.

I tested positive on a LTF then PCR but my daughter was ill and never got a positive PCR but eventually got a positive LTF when I pup swap up higher when she was asleep.

I'd say LTF positive means positive.

Winterwonder5 · 06/11/2021 09:55

@Yellowmellow2 did you ever get a positive result? I'm in the same boat now and it's so frustrating

Kwoody66 · 03/12/2021 00:53

I have had consistent positive LFT’s for a year. All PCR’s are negative.
Does anyone else have this problem?
