I think this is week 3 now. Dd tested positive last Monday but was symptomatic on the Friday but negative on PCR. I only tested her as ds was so bad with a cough and fever. Ds was really bad with a cough and sneezing and high fever. I started off with a sore throat, headache, bit of snot, bit of a cough, bit of a fever but nothing to make me ill as such. I've got worse as the dc have got better and am now chesty, coughy, tight chest, knackered, full of snot, bad head, congestion and feel like shit. Latest PCR on Friday was negative. I've started steroids for my asthma as my inhalers aren't very effective at the moment and will be speaking to the GP tomorrow in case I've now got a chest infection. I thoroughly fed up.
Please come moan with me so that this misery has company Smile

It's awful. Like the worst cold I've ever had in my life. And I'm still expected to go into work with it!

ramonaquimby · 10/10/2021 14:36

Oh me too. Every sympathy!
I’m expected in for work too but I’ve just called in and said I’ll be off until I’m not. Partner tested positive a few days ago but nothing for me or the youngsters

Bunn5 · 10/10/2021 14:53

I would be questioning the negative PCR as you have symptoms and a recent positive Covid case within your household.

Sadless · 10/10/2021 14:58

My daughter is ill at the moment her best friend at college had a positive pcr test this morning. My daughter has been doing daily test lft which come back negative. But know her best friend has tested positive and she was with her all day Friday. Don't know if she's got a cold now and then maybe develop covid this week or has already got covid. Not sure if to take her for a pcr test as a close contact.

Any advice

Sal

FlatteredFool · 10/10/2021 15:04

I'm not convinced on the accuracy of the tests seeing as dd tested negative first but had symptoms. We were in close contact until she got her positive result. She's out of isolation on Wednesday so I assume if I've not tested positive by then then she hasn't shared her germs.

@Sadless I'd get a PCR.

I currently have non covid covid! Feel like crap, have had 4 positive lateral flows but pcr was negative this morning. Am going to do a home one to see if that changes the result. It doesn’t really matter as I’m going to isolate anyway, but I need to try and persuade my work that covid is circulating as they aren’t taking it v seriously atm.

My symptoms have been fever going between 99.5-101, and really chesty cough. It’s starting to crackle in my chest now which is slightly alarming but I’m checking on the oximeter and it’s fine so far. Really hope I don’t get any worse than this! I’m in the south west where there are apparently issues with the pcrs.

Sadless · 10/10/2021 16:14

Think I will try book one for tonight she is a close contact.
Its just confusing what to do because there seems to be alot of other colds going around.

Thanks
Sal

My baby has just parainfluenza and I was convinced she had covid. She needed hospital treatment. There's some bad stuff out there that isn't covid

SparklingLime · 10/10/2021 16:22

There are accuracy problems with PCRs in some areas: www.theguardian.com/world/2021/oct/09/negative-pcr-test-covid-symptoms-self-isolate

FlatteredFool · 10/10/2021 17:37

I've ordered home tests now. I'm in the north west but covid is rife where we are and Dd is positive and her step siblings are positive too.

So tired of it. 10 days from first symptom and still feeling rough. Not sure if I'm also detoxing from paracetamol.
Headache lethargy tickly dry throat sore eyes and pain in neck. Also a bit low about not leaving house

BlanketPiggy · 10/10/2021 18:05

My eyes hurt

FlatteredFool · 10/10/2021 18:14

My eyes and neck are sore too and have been for about a week. Throat is sore. Back, legs and hips ache. It's ridiculous now all this.

Yes worse Cold ever! Ds was really ill 2 weeks ago positive lft 2 negative pcr but I swear it was covid as 3 of his friends had it too. Dd was ill too but negative tests, now I've got it snotty nose, sneezing and aching so far and also feel sick alot too but I feel more is to come and I'm still testing negative too. Hope everyone gets well soon!

FlatteredFool · 10/10/2021 19:43

I've just worked out that Dd tested positive 12 days after being exposed to her other sibling at her dad's. His sibling then became positive as did their mum. My ds first had a fever 4 weeks ago and has consistently tested negative despite being exposed to cases at school and now to his sister. His fever has come and gone several times in those 4 weeks but it's about a week now since he's had a definite proper bloody horrific cough, achy legs, sore throat, feels sick, sneezing, snot. He's been in and out of school when he's not had a fever and has had a negative test but now I wonder if he has either had it or has got it. About a quarter of the school were off at one point. It makes no sense.

@flatteredfool thay sounds just like us too. Wlmy ds had 2 negative pcr and school told him to go in despite his friends testing positive but I've never seen him so ill and I'm sure he had it. I thought we might have escaped it since it's been 12 days since the positive lft but now I've started feeling off with negative lft....very interesting to see just how many could have possibly had it and tested negative.

Mrrainybow · 10/10/2021 20:15

I’ve got it too, multiple negative LFTs and negative PCR.
Cough is chesty and my chest feels tight.
I’m still expected to go into work like this.
I’m concerned it’s turning into a chest infection but can never get through to doctors anyway.
My son has it as well, he’s got the productive cough too and is also incredibly snotty, as am I. It’s disturbing his sleep.
I’m feeling achy and tired all the time. I’m on day 5 of it.

InABetterPlaceNow · 10/10/2021 20:27

Yup me too. Middle DD tested strong positive on a LFT early last week, positive PRC since, I've had similar (but worse) symptoms - negative for me and eldest DD on LFT (and PCR).

Youngest DD back from residential and multiple positive cases on the trip which I feel awful for. Negative LFTs for her since then but have ordered a PCR. School said it's up to me if I keep her off as guidance means she shouldn't really but they would rather I did!

Who knows at this point.

BanditoShipman · 10/10/2021 20:29

Day 16 and there is light at the end of the tunnel! Only symptoms left now are still being snotty and really, really tired. Worst cold I’ve ever had 🙁

userxx · 10/10/2021 20:33

I've got this horrid cold too, all the symptoms that are being described, had it coming up 10 days now. Dud a test before and it's positive. Arse.

Mrrainybow · 10/10/2021 21:25

@userxx when did you take the test? I did my PCR 3 days after symptoms started.
Would you recommend doing another?

RedFlyingBeeBee · 10/10/2021 23:37

So hang on, is this or isn't this COVID, the 'cold' that people are talking about here?
