I’ve got a snotty nose and general cold symptoms and developed a mucusy cough on Tuesday just gone, work have told me to have a PCR test which I had yesterday. I’ve still not received my results back and work are asking me for them.

How long on average did you all get your PCR test results back??

2nd morning after posting

alltheusernameshavegone · 07/10/2021 12:51

Less than 24 hours from having the test.

Cherrydown · 07/10/2021 12:59

About 18 hours after the test for me.

AlexaShutUp · 07/10/2021 13:02

I had mine at 2pm yesterday. No result yet. Same for DH.

DD's took just over 24 hours to come back. I did one at the same time which couldn't be read. That took more like 36 hours.

COVIDhelp · 07/10/2021 13:02

DS had a PCR 12pm yesterday, results by email 6am this morning

Was it positive, @COVIDhelp?

A friend said to me that the positive ones come back more quickly than the negative ones?!

hotelharibo · 07/10/2021 13:06

@AlexaShutUp

That's not true there's no difference between the time if positive and negative tests.

OP generally about 24hrs wait when we've had a test

COVIDhelp · 07/10/2021 13:06

@AlexaShutUp no, negative! Thank god 😂

optimistic40 · 07/10/2021 13:06

It was about 1.5 days for me last week

Thank you @hotelharibo, I did think it sounded unlikely!

Good news for you!

I'm getting impatient waiting for mine!Sad

HealthAnxietyWorry · 07/10/2021 13:12

The test centre told me it can take up to 72hrs but I’m so impatient and sat on tenterhooks waiting for it! I’m pretending in my head it will be negative because it’s taking longer than a lot of other colleagues 😂

Yep, I keep checking my email in case I have missed it.

I'm pretty sure that mine will be positive as dd has already tested positive and I have developed symptoms. But I just want the flipping result now.

WeMustGetOffTheMountain · 07/10/2021 13:22

My son started with symptoms Saturday afternoon, tested 6pm Saturday at a test centre and test back Sunday morning around 8am (positive). I started with symptoms Tuesday night, tested Wednesday at 9am at a test centre and got results through at 11.30am today (positive 😬). They do say it can take up to 72 hours, although everyone I know has had tests within a day and a half or so!

HealthAnxietyWorry · 07/10/2021 13:24

Literally everybody I know that has had one got them all back within 8-24hrs, starting to overthink that I ticked a box incorrectly when booking my test and I’ve taken myself off the texts and emails list to receive my results Grin😂😂

AlexaShutUp · 07/10/2021 13:26

I'm just really worried that mine is going to be invalid again, and that that's why it's taking longer.

DotBall · 07/10/2021 13:36

Mine took 9hrs, a week later DH and DS’s tests took 2 days. All positive from the same test site.

That is exactly my worry!! I had to my own test whilst they watched because they’re ‘not allowed to’ so now I’m panicking that guys going to be wrong!

Had to take DD for one on Tuesday, she had one about 9.30 ish and the results about lunchtime the next day.
Although we were told it would be about 72 hours.

Lemonsole · 07/10/2021 13:52

I had a test at 09:00 Tuesday; I didn't get the results until 15:30 on Wednesday, so over 24 hours.
It must depend on your area, though. They're overwhelmed round here.

PreacherTeacher · 07/10/2021 13:58

DD test done yesterday morning and it came back in about 24hours..

AlexaShutUp · 07/10/2021 14:03

I just got mine back, @HealthAnxietyWorry. Just within the 24 hours.

Positive as expected. Which I knew anyway but it is actually a relief to have it confirmed.

InABetterPlaceNow · 07/10/2021 14:04

We sent our home test kits back Tuesday, still no results :( really worried they've got lost and never known it to take so long. Very sure DD will be positive (multiple LFT showing positive) but all my LFT are negative and I need to know if I'm OK to not isolate!

Phoned the line today and they checked that they had been registered correctly (they have) but they can't chase until after 72 hours - I guess that will be after tomorrow? Not sure when the timer starts.

(Oh! As I was typing this DDs came through! Positive... urgh not hopeful for mine now...)

I did loads of negative lateral flows but pcr has come back positive.
