Wondering if anyone hasn’t been tested for covid yet?

I haven’t done a single test since the start of the pandemic and some people find it strange I haven’t. Surely can’t be the only one? Haven’t done lateral flow or PCR…

I've done one PCR as I was randomly picked for a study (I could have refused, but thought I should do my bit), but none due to symptoms. I've had 1 day with a sore throat about 14 months ago since the start of the pandemic.

XenoBitch · 04/10/2021 23:09

I have not done any sort of test either. I ended up in A&E a few months back via ambulance, and I thought I would have been tested then, but nope.

Timeisavirtue · 04/10/2021 23:56

I’ve not needed one, DP has had to do many due to close contact within work and dd due to a hay fever cough ( she gets it every year) school wanted her tested so that’s what we did. Me and DS are yet to do one and for good reason, I’m not doing it unless I have a legitimate reason to do so as I have ongoing sinus issues, DS has asd and literally freaks out when we tried doing a lft... so no chance unless it’s totally necessary.
I have to do one though in a few weeks as We are visiting FIL and he’s vulnerable. But that will be it..l

Mynameismargot · 05/10/2021 00:00

I got away with it up until last month when I was admitted to hospital(for none covid reasons) then I had 2 in 3 days.

catandbabymama · 05/10/2021 00:00

I had to have one before my C-section in February but never did one before that and haven't done one since

DramaAlpaca · 05/10/2021 01:28

DH and two of our adult sons haven't done any type of covid test.

I had one in January when I was feeling under the weather (negative) and DS2 has had loads due to close contacts at work. All negative too.

Floralnomad · 05/10/2021 01:43

My husband and daughter haven't done any type of test , I’ve done a lateral flow but purely because I wanted to ring the GP about being short of breath ( I have a diagnosed lung condition)and thought they would probably say do a test . My sister also hasn’t done any kind of test .

123Squirrel · 05/10/2021 02:09

I thought I'd only just done a lateral flow but remembered I did a PCR as part of the imperial college covid study.

TheWestIsTheBest · 05/10/2021 02:17

I did one in about May last year when I got a really bad cough. I haven't had to do one since as there is practically no Covid where I live. My husband and son haven't tested, nor have most people I know.

ISpyCobraKai · 05/10/2021 02:34

No test here, no need to.

madisonbridges · 05/10/2021 02:40

Me. Not retired. Been out and about on coach trips as well. Hope I'm not speaking too soon!

Whycantibetangy · 05/10/2021 02:42

Only because I had to. 1 PCR prior to surgery, LFT when coming back from holiday and a day 2 PCR.

Never had any symptoms so no need to do one otherwise. My dds have to do the school ones 3x a week and we have boxes of those sitting on shelves if we need them. (Although we are not supposed to use them apparently) Dh has tested himself a few times when clients have tested positive.

TulipCat · 05/10/2021 02:48

I have done a couple that were requirements to attend events. It a joke really though, because I could have just opened the packet to get the barcode on the test, and recorded a negative without actually doing the test.

Geamhradh · 05/10/2021 06:36

I've never been tested. Am in Italy.

Geamhradh · 05/10/2021 06:38

(no do it yourself testing here or I suppose I might have done, for curiosity if nothing else- DD has done one, to enter a museum this summer as her EU pass for being double vaxxed hadn't yet come through, DH has done two for his workplace when 2 employees had Covid during first wave)

Angel2702 · 05/10/2021 06:52

Lots of LF since as we have kids in school so when they rolled out the twice weekly testing for kids and parents in March we started. Hadn’t had any test until that point.

Only had our first PCR on Saturday.

Youarestillintherunning · 05/10/2021 06:54

I managed to get away with it until last week. Throughout the pandemic I was pregnant and working from home, so very (probably overly) cautious

Roselilly36 · 05/10/2021 06:55

No test here either, I was shielded, we all work from home.

loadypoady · 05/10/2021 06:58

Husband hasn’t had one either PCR or LFT. Has worked since day 1 of the pandemic (food manufacturing) not social distancing when they should have and without masks!
I have had one PCR early in the pandemic as developed a cough so was nagged by said husband to go fo

loadypoady · 05/10/2021 06:59

for the test which fortunately was negative

chipsandpeas · 05/10/2021 07:04

never had a test yet, either PCR or lateral flows

ProfSprout · 05/10/2021 07:33

Touch wood I haven’t needed a PCR yet.

Have done lots of lateral flows for work though.

PheasantsNest · 05/10/2021 07:35

I haven't either. I'm a SAHM.

AlexaShutUp · 05/10/2021 07:41

If you don't ever go anywhere or see anyone, then I don't think it's surprising in the slightest. There isn't really any need.

If you're out and about living a fairly ordinary life, then I'd be a bit unimpressed that you had never done a lateral flow. It's just a sensible preventative measure to keep other people safe. Never having done one isn't anything to boast about.

I have done my first pcr test this week because dd has covid. Picked up via a routine lateral flow that she did when asymptomatic. Thankfully, the lateral flow test stopped her from going into school and spreading it further.

These threads pop up fairly often. Feels like an odd humble brag and not something you have very much control over.
