Postal PCR test results over the weekend

Rajono · 02/10/2021 22:25

I posted my PCR test this morning (Saturday) in a priority post box, over an hour before collection was due, and when I check the tracking number its saying that it has been collected but it is still at the sorting office. Will it be delivered to the lab tomorrow on a Sunday? I thought they got delivered the same day, and I'm gutted that it will just add to the waiting time. What sort of waiting times have you all had for postal results lately?

I could have written this! I'm so frustrated as I thought it would be delivered today (Cardiff)

Fingers crossed it gets delivered to the lab tomorrow then. I was just hoping it would get there today, as I've been hearing about postal results taking a long time, so wanted as much chance as possible to get the results by Tuesday, as I'm due in work on Wenesday

It is frustrating isn't it! My partner done a postal test at the start of the year, and it got delivered to the lab the same day, so I was worried that there had been a problem with mine. I just hope it doesn't get delayed until Monday 🤞

I posted mine last Sunday before the last collection in the priority postbox but didn't get my (negative) result until Wednesday evening!

Oh no! I'm not patient at the best of times, so this wait is going to kill me!

Mine was delivered to the testing centre just before midnight on the day I posted it. Results came two days later, in the evening. It seems to be very slow compared to drive through testing centres.

I've checked it this morning and it's still saying its at the sorting office 😒 fingers crossed it gets there today, or that Royal Mail just haven't updated it 🤞 yeah there is definitely a difference in times between the drive through and postal times

I posted my daughters PCR in a post box last Sunday at 1pm. I presumed it would sit there till Monday before being collected even but sure enough her result came through 7am on Monday 😳 it was negative thankfully good luck with yours x

emmy4 · 03/10/2021 08:33

We posted ours last pick up at tea time Friday and we had results back Saturday lunchtime. I couldn't believe how quick the turnaround was.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/10/2021 08:34

I posted mine on Friday and had the results in very early this morning.

cymrukernow · 03/10/2021 09:09

My test arrived Friday, posted back Friday afternoon and got result Sat evening ( unfortunately they could not read it so have to do another one)

Rajono · 03/10/2021 09:12

Did you all track your deliveries? Were they delivered on the same day as you posted them?

Dumbledoresgirl · 03/10/2021 09:13

Posted mine mid to late morning on Friday. Received result by text 10pm last night. So about 36 hours in total.

Rajono · 03/10/2021 10:44

dottyaboutstripes is yours showing as being delivered yet? Mine isn't 😔

Posted last Tuesday, delivered same day, still no results. Phoned to be told they won't wait in the queue to get through to the testing centre to check the results. Also told to go for another test today as it may be quicker. Seems a little counterproductive.

dottyaboutstripes · 03/10/2021 11:01

Still at the sorting office, plus I've just had reminder emails to return them ASAP 🙄

We live pretty close to the drive through testing but there weren't any appointments so I had no choice but to do the postal tests. So annoyed!

Peanutsandchilli thats madness, makes no sense. I'm just hoping that Royal Mail haven't updated the status of mine yet, as it would be frustrating for it to be delayed before it even reaches the testing stage

dottyaboutstripes it's so annoying isn't it! Hopefully it's just Royal Mail not updating their system and we both hear soon 🤞

Could I ask how people are tracking whether it's been collected/received at lab? I posted one yesterday but can't see how or where to track it

On the box there was a reference number that I took note of, then used it on Royal Mail's track and trace on their website

Ah thanks, I rushed to get it in a priority box before last collection and didn't take a note of the number stupidly!
