Double jabbed but so ill

I am double jabbed, early 40's, reasonably healthy. I have just caught covid and feel horrendous. Every bone aches, chest hurst, migraines, hot sweats then freezing cold, runny nose, cough, loss of taste and smell. I am bed bound.
I rang in sick to work and they seemed peeved that I'm off sick on not wfh on laptop. I can't possibly look at a screen or think.
Work seem to think that most covid positive person are asymptomatic.
Is this right?
Am I the only one with symptoms after 2 jabs?
I honestly don't know why the vaccine hasn't worked.

Who else has contracted covid after vaccination and how bad did you get it?

Double jabbed with AZ, mid 40s. My second AZ was end of May. Had no symptoms after both vaccinations. Sumner time flew to visit my family abroad and caught COVID off my sister. I was sick for about 3 days, temperature around 37, loss of smell and test ( restored with aromatherapy- tea tree oil). I had done
Antibodies blood test out of curiosity and it was 1500. My unvaccinated younger sister had done the same blood test too after she recovered from COVID. Hers one was 75. I was never pro vaccine before, only done because I had to. However, I realised now that vaccines do work and I feel more protected then my un vaccinated friends.

That’s a really dodgy link. Don’t click it.

ChillingReign · 30/09/2021 23:02

Looks like malware. I have reported it

Summerfun54321 · 30/09/2021 23:25

@toffeeshock “bad side effects” from the vaccine actually mean a good immune response. You want to feel shit after the first vaccine to know it’s kicked your immune system into making antibodies.

Icequeen01 · 30/09/2021 23:32

Can I ask if any of you who currently have Covid and are vaccinated have had Covid previously? I had a nasty bout of Covid in January but have since had both vaccinations and would be interested to see what my chances are of catching it again. I've just been invited for my booster so will be getting that shortly.

From the antibody studies I’ve read these with prior Covid + double vaxxed have much higher neutralising antibody levels. I think you’re as safe as it’s possible to be (which still isn’t perfectly safe, unfortunately).

QueenofLouisiana · 01/10/2021 00:02

I am double vaxxed and tested positive 12 days ago. I was in bed for 3 days, barely moved unless I needed the loo. Was so tired I cried because I couldn’t get my own cereal from the kitchen cupboard. Head pounded and sweats with muscle pains all night.

I’d say I felt better after 8 days and today I did a full day of WFH for the first time. I’m doing the same tomorrow before returning to the classroom on Monday.

I realise it’s much milder than it would have been without a jab, but it still was not the “no problem, slight inconvenience” many people assume it is.

I caught covid in July I'm 45. Wasn't pleasant bad headache aches loss of taste and smell and the fatigue was bad. Felt better after about 10 days back to normal after two weeks. No vaccine.

RavingAnnie · 01/10/2021 00:27

My husband and I gave just had covid. Both double jabbed. He had AZ I had Pfizer. We were both very ill with it. I had two weeks off work and then a further week prebooked annual leave (but may have had to take sick leave for some of that had I had to go in). My DH had a week off work.

I have not been that ill with a virus for a very long time.

One of the worst symptoms for me were the cognitive ones. As you say I couldn't think. I had dizziness, severe brain fog and some confusion. Couldn't do anything but sleep and stare at TV. No way I could have worked just with that, let alone the other physical symptoms.

RavingAnnie · 01/10/2021 00:27

PS Im back at work but still having residual symptoms 6 weeks from onset.

RavingAnnie · 01/10/2021 00:29

PPS we are late 40s

RavingAnnie · 01/10/2021 00:33

I also have to say that my work were really good about it.

They immediately said I should isolate and WFH in week 1 after my DH was positive, I had symptoms but I was getting negative tests (took 4 tests to get a positive one!), and technically didn't have to isolate as I was double jabbed. Then they were kind and supportive when I was off sick for two weeks. Can't fault them really.

My DH was off for one week but his work were also fine about it.

MamaSass · 01/10/2021 02:00

Sorry you are unwell OP.

My DS age 11 is unwell with covid, he’s been having really bad headaches, dizziness and fever since Sunday.

I was double jabbed back in June. My symptoms started on Tuesday and I feel awful. Dizziness and fever like DS but also the dreaded cough. It doesn’t feel mild or moderate. But I am so thankful for my jab - maybe I would have been much worse.

Work were great for me. I work from home but they understood I needed to take sick leave.

The hardest thing for me has been looking after both children (DD is as fit as a flea) on my own whilst feeling so poorly. My mum (late 70s) would come and help but I don’t want her to take the risk, especially as I know it’s possible to catch it after jabs.

I had covid before being double vaccinated. My DD had covid 3weeks ago. I spent the whole of her isolation in very close contact with her. I didn’t catch it.
Icequeen01 · 01/10/2021 06:48

Thank you @Tresal and @IndigoC that's reassuring. Fingers crossed!

Yes, that’s why I was wondering if it would make a difference. But it appears not from responses so far, as they’ve been mixed.

Thanks to those who have responded.

NightVinca · 01/10/2021 09:26

The two people I know who've had AZ felt quite ill with covid, however they recovered well fairly soon

herbaceous · 01/10/2021 12:46

Re vaccine reaction vs severity of covid, I had absolutely no reaction to AZ vaccine, in March and May.

Got my positive PCR 11 days ago, and while I haven't had the cough, fever, etc, I do have headache, no smell and horrible vertigo/dizziness, along with jelly legs and breathlessness. Have to have a nice sit down after emptying the dishwasher. And have cognitive abilities of a sea cucumber.

Had a good day on Tuesday, and thought I was better. Raced around the house, sorting out a room swap. The next day I thought I was dying.

Supposed to be going back to work on Monday... I'm a TA, so it's not taxing, but there's a lot of standing and walking. I need to be sitting!

whizzinaround · 01/10/2021 14:41

Double jabbed AZ, mid forties, tested positive a couple of days ago and feel bloody awful 😭 raging headache, aching all over, can't drag myself from bed, chest really tight and starting to feel quite breathless. DH ordered oximeter now as he's getting worried, (he's tested neg so far)..never felt so awful in my life 😥

Treetops09 · 01/10/2021 14:46

DH double jabbed with AZ is the sickest he’s ever been but looks to be coming out the other side after 10 days. He was floored by his first vaccine too.

naturemumma · 01/10/2021 15:11

Double jabbed (Pfizer) in May and July and I caught covid off my daughter. I’m late 30s with no health conditions that I know of! I’ve felt pretty horrible to be honest. Headache, cold symptoms, vertigo, palpitations, muscle aches, blocked ears. No cough, thankfully. I think I’m beginning to come out of the other side after a week, but the room is still spinning and the brain fog is still there. I had no reaction to either vaccine other than a sore arm. My husband had no reaction to the vaccines either, but somehow he managed to avoid catching it!

TheRainbow · 01/10/2021 21:57

@Silkieschickens

Toffee I am late 40s very bad side effects from AZ esp first one, have covid now and very ill with it, on third week, if DH wasnt here I would have gone to hospital. Not life threatening or ICU ill but in bed every day on day 16th, oxygen readings are 93 or 94, pulse very low, gastric symptoms every day, room spinning half the day every day, really bad cold, both ears blocked, no taste, no smell, so not great though no idea how typical that is. Normally fine with vaccines. I do have ME and asthma / allergies and small vessel disease of brain but was just put in normal category by NHS. DH, was ill for 4 weeks but no breathing issues and no dizziness, and he was a more typical 24 hours ill after AZ. No idea if vaccine failed for us or we would have been more severe. We probably got it on holiday in UK so difficult to know exact source or type. DH is getting better now so it will end but pretty grim before then for us and even super healthy and fit DD was floored for 2 weeks, not vaccinated as 15. Though DS escaped and others with no or mild symptoms. Think its quite hard to predict, age seems to be a factor.
I'm not a medical person by any means, but oxygen readings of 93/94 are low and with your other symptoms too, it might be worth being checked out at hospital. I'm cev and have covid now too so checking oximeter every now and again. Think readings should be above 95 percent. I hope you feel much better soon.
Autumngoldleaf · 01/10/2021 22:01

@WineAndMassage

I don't understand your anti body post.
I had the government anti body test because I was sure I had it right at the beginning.
However by the time of the test and after two vaccines my test was no anti body.

They don't test for vaccine though in the test its specific to virus.

Silkieschickens · 01/10/2021 23:18

Thanks for thinking of me Izzypuss I read 92 was go to hospital and 93/94 call 111 but I just stayed at home with those levels as the hospital is full and in the press there were people being made to wait outside the hospital for A&E, dread to think what it will be like later in the winter. I think it maybe finally starting to end as today my pulse and oxygen were at normal levels, I could taste my food and less dizzy than before and not been sick. I will keep monitoring it but think after nearly 3 weeks the end maybe in sight. I hope anyone else feeling ill feels better soon.
