Is it preferable to losing your sense of taste? How do those of you who've lost both get on?

I didn't realise I had lost my sense of taste at first. I was quite ill and DH was getting all my meals ready. I accused him of over salting everything and he swore he hadn't used any salt. It was only when my breakfast cereal tasted of salt that the penny dropped.

Lost mine for 5 days. Couldnt smell or taste a thing.

I'm exactly the same, symptoms started Tuesday, no sense of smell but luckily can taste things, possibly reduced taste. It's weird.

I have the 'rona right now, three days in, and I have completely lost all sense of smell - e. g. Chanel no. 5, a gift which I hardly use because it's so strong - and I can smell nothing of it at all. Nothing!! So weird.
I've just gone and tried TCP - also nothing.

I'm doubly vaxxed as of July but still have a lot of symptoms, although seems now to be getting better.

Also double vaccinated. Absolutely no smell or taste, tested positive 7 days ago, smell and taste has been gone past 2 days. Making eating rather unenjoyable.

Day 5 here. Absolutely no taste or smell

Same here, positive on Wednesday. Can taste a bit but no smell whatsoever. Had a rotten 48 hours but starting to feel a bit better. Double vaxxed since May…

@findmeaholiday why not? Vaccine reduces the seriousness of the illness.

I tested positive Tuesday as well. Absolutely zero taste or smell! Felt rotten Tuesday evening/Wednesday/Thursday but think physically feeling a bit better today.

Keep sniffing things to see if it’s coming back!!

We were sniffing a jar of lazy garlic and couldn't smell it! Was a very strange experience to shower and not smell any of my products

12 weeks in. No smell or taste but negative pcr just bad cold.
Loss of taste is worse than smell.

I had Covid in December and still can't smell anything. I can taste, that never went away fully, but it's lessened. I want really strong or spicy flavours all the time.

Should add mine came back in 4 days. We're 7 weeks post Covid now and DH still hasn't got his back fully, everything smells like it's burning to him.

Yep, I had Covid in August and completely lost all sense of smell and taste. Took a month for it to fully return.

Everything tastes shite, even water tastes metallic. Can smell odd smells e.g. burnt cardboard. Taste and smell were actually ok until about day 6 then just went.

It's so bizarre. I knew it was a symptom, of course, but took my sense of smell for granted.

While I can taste a bit, obviously not being able to smell, will impact taste.

I lost both. It was so strange, I couldn't eat because having food in my mouth I couldn't taste made me feel sick.

I agree with PP. I'd rather lose smell over taste.
