We had email senior school saying they can how be vaccinated.
No permission slips
No actual date day this is too happen.
Primary emailed said they delaying Primary winter flu nasal sprays to focus on 12 to 15 covid jabs.

Its now Thursday 23rd September.
No idea if happening last wee final week September..suddenly we into October and the latter end of the month its half term.
It takes 21 days after the jab have immunity so maybe by November if we lucky.

I'm bit worries as my year 11 has important mocks in November.
She won't be 16 until Feb.
I can't take get get it or attend a vaccination centers I have to wait for school and local ccg to organise it.

So let's announce it.
Let's move very slowly infact too late to have any real affect.
Let's only give them one vaccine when nearly every child around the world gets 2.

Honestly whats the hold up whys it so hard.
I know parents with vunerable children had weeks trying after announcement to try and get the the vaccine.
100k kids off UK school last week.
I can't see how this school year can be normal and not disrupted.

I'm feeling fed up we just have to hope we don't have really bad flu season this winter as well as covid as our kids won't have any flu jab and teens only half jabbed too late we then well into winter.

I've heard nothing from Y9 DS's school. Only just had a consent form for flu mist to be administered in "early winter" What's the point by then? These kids are going to have yet another disrupted autumn term.

DonGray · 23/09/2021 15:54

I have had a consent form but no date given yet

Spikeyball · 23/09/2021 16:38

My vulnerable teenager still hasn't been offered it. The GP has stopped doing them with loads not done. Today I received the flu consent form but his special school have heard nothing about the covid vaccination.

tiddlysquat · 23/09/2021 16:53

Not heard a peep here , very frustrating

tiddlysquat · 23/09/2021 16:54

Luckily she had flu jab when went for routine GP appt earlier this week (is on priority list). So 1 out of 2 has reassured me a little !

MaureenMLove · 23/09/2021 16:59

We've been given a date of next Thursday at the school I work at. It's not going to happen for a few more weeks though. Not enough time to work out the logistics of 1600 kids getting it.

Silkiescatz · 23/09/2021 17:01

27th September but she cant have it as already caught covid since back to school, also y11 and ill for 2 weeks.

Iwantthesummersun · 23/09/2021 17:05

We could do walk in jags from Monday the 20th. DD12 tested positive on the 17th so she’ll need to wait 28 days. Several mass vaccination clinics locally for this age group.

bonbonours · 23/09/2021 17:09

We have heard literally nothing from our school except a message a week or so ago saying don't contact us about it, we'll be in touch when we know something.

Hellocatshome · 23/09/2021 17:11

My kids are at separate secondary schools. 1 is doing it 6th Oct the other 7th Oct, some schools have given a date in November.

londonmummy1966 · 23/09/2021 17:13

The vaccine centre I volunteer at has been doing them since last week - had a huge rush at about 4pm yesterday when lots turned up after school.

Hellocatshome · 23/09/2021 17:16

@londonmummy1966 are you in England? I think in England they are only available through schools.

loobylou44 · 23/09/2021 17:17

7th October for both the flu and covid jab

MrsLCSofLichfield · 23/09/2021 17:25

Us neither Angry

I see that @bumbleymummy is here - would you like to discuss whether or not your children have been invited, or are you just on this thread to pursue your usual anti-vax agenda? Answers on a postcard, please..Hmm

hairypaws · 23/09/2021 17:25

I'm in Scotland and took my 15 year old to a drop in on Monday (I think that was when our drop ins started from for that age group. He got his nasal flu vaccine at school a couple of weeks ago.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 23/09/2021 17:30

We have been emailed the date of 4th October a couple of days ago, with consent forms. Have heard anything about the flu jabs yet.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 23/09/2021 17:31

Exactly.

Unless you've worked in a school you have no idea of the logistics involved.

In this case we are being advised by the local authority and NHS Trust so we can't go galloping ahead until we have the information we need for them.

Then there's organising the place, time, staffing etc and managing the hundreds of parents querying, demanding it happens sooner, throwing a tantrum because they think we're solely responsible for implanting their kids with microchips and all manner of other crap.

Believe me I wish to God they would them have it through vaccination centres...life in secodnary schools is hard enough at the moment without this to deal with.

Crazycat53 · 23/09/2021 17:34

We've not heard anything about covid jabs (Norfolk UK) & the HPV vaccine due this week has been cancelled. Flu vaccine should be either Nov or Dec. No actual date given yet!

Hellocatshome · 23/09/2021 17:37

Ours are being done at the same time as the nasal flu spray, presumably that helps with the logistics?

Watsername · 23/09/2021 17:38

Monday next week - Covid and flu together

FedNlanders · 23/09/2021 17:40

Got a year 11 daughter. Not heard anything.

actiongirl1978 · 23/09/2021 18:12

@MintyCedric agreed. I work in a school office, we are down to bare bones as it is, plus covid testing, plus arranging flu jabs, plus the admin for this.

Whilst some of the info is sent ready to go to parents, the covid jab is a paper consent form so another load of organising.

Mojoj · 23/09/2021 18:15

Kids don't need vaccinated.

MintJulia · 23/09/2021 18:24

Oct 4th, here in north Hampshire
