Is covid ripping through your school?

Both schools my DC attend and the school
I work at now have numerous covid cases for the first time!!! Is it just inevitable
that under the current guidelines, all these kids are going to get covid? The staff feel like ticking times bombs despite being vaccinated.
Like many establishments, we have newly
of staff, vulnerable staff, staff with vulnerable family members, very anxious older staff.... It's nerve wracking waiting for it to hit!

My sons school has reintroduced masks due to the high covid rates.

It's madness. I can't see the 'balance' between health and inperson education. There are no mitigations at all. How is that balanced? How is that not disruptive to education? It's awful to keep exposing kids, teachers and their families to this. Lots of people are getting sick, some seriously, 10 kids died of covid last month alone.

Many schools have saved a lot of money over covid and are now in a better place financially and have to show how it will be spent over the next year. If we need supply there simply is none in our area

You have to do what you can to keep things ticking over until it becomes unmanageable. We had two covid cases who have now returned to school. TAs will be taking lessons if needed.

Really? ShockWhere? Do you have a link?

@cabbageking many schools didn’t save money if they had to splash out on supply last year, extra cleaning, photocopying resources during lockdown etc.

Some of our local schools are letting parents know whether they have cases. Also having to implement some of their outbreak policy.

Been told no supply budget. Suggested they combine two classes, preferably outside!

You can see this data on the NHS website in the statistics bit.

www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-daily-deaths/

Thats 0-19 year olds (the 10 in last month bit quoted) and if you run 4th Sept - 4th Oct inclusive.

Significantly less than all other age groups though to continue the trend of age being a good morbidity indicator for covid.

That is very sobering.
