NHS staff - any news on your booster

itrustinvaccines · 16/09/2021 18:14

My DP is proper frontline Covid-facing patient care, no news on boosters from their NHS trust, who have no clue when or how the boosters are going to be given.

Not like the footage from Croydon hospital today.

Would DP be better trying their GP for the booster, or are GPs only doing the over 80s to start with.

Obviously the government are all about protecting the patients, but Covid-treating staff should be protected ASAP with their boosters, so they don't get Covid (again) or bring it home to their families.

So similarly placed staff - what is your trust's plan to get your booster to you?

Still nothing has been mentioned in my trust!

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 12:36

Still nothing

[quote Brooze]Here’s the NHS booking website specifically for the booster jab. If it’s been more than six months since your second jab then it should allow you to book your booster.

Thanks. I tried this and it said I’m not currently eligible (!) Has anyone used it successfully?

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 12:39

It says you have to have been contacted by the NHS first.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/09/2021 12:52

My DM works in a major hospital and has been told she is having a booster on Friday.

Brooze · 21/09/2021 12:59

It’s like the original website - the NHS will often be slow to contact you, so for ‘live’ eligibility status you are better off checking the booking site. There were lots of threads about this at the start of the year!

Metallicalover · 21/09/2021 14:02

I can book mine from next Monday. Its going to phizer booster xx

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 14:09

I had my original ones through the hospital where I work rather than the general NHS system. I’m assuming the same will happen this time.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 21/09/2021 16:41

Relative of mine had their booster yesterday but they are care home staff not NHS.

Sweetnhappy1 · 21/09/2021 16:48

@Egghead68 the link posted above didn't let me book earlier today but is letting me book now. Try again later.

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 17:36

Thanks @sweetnhappy1. Still not working for me but I’ll keep trying. Did you get your original jab through work or elsewhere?

FixTheBone · 21/09/2021 17:41

Manchester Foundation Trust sent invites to all frontline staff this morning.

I'm booked in for 18th October which is 6 months and 3 days after my 2nd shot.

Shadedog · 21/09/2021 17:43

No mention in my trust. It was March when I had my second but the vulnerable people in my team had both before new year.

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 17:43

I’m currently nearly 9 months since my second shot.

Atla · 21/09/2021 17:47

Our trust is rolling out from next week for staff - care home residents already being vaccinated

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 18:18

I’m going to phone occ health tomorrow.

Motorina · 21/09/2021 18:51

May not. We had the same, but have been emailed today to book through the general booking site.

Which is telling me I'm not eligible, but I'll keep trying.

Egghead68 · 21/09/2021 20:10

Thanks @motorina.

BonnyandPoppy · 21/09/2021 20:12

Got my invite today for the 30th Sept

mummymathsteacher · 21/09/2021 20:21

DH had his yesterday. He's primary care. They are definitely starting.

Icequeen01 · 21/09/2021 20:28

Both myself (60) and my elderly DM (81) received texts today to say we can book our boosters. My DM had her 2nd jab in January and I had my second at the beginning of May. According to the website we have been offered the booster by virtue of age. DH is 59 and hasn't been offered one yet.

Interestingly the website stated that we would only be offered either Pfizer (which DM had originally) or Moderna. I had AZ originally.

Spaghettipie1 · 21/09/2021 22:12

We hadn't heard anything then got email today to say to book so booked in for Monday. It seems to vary. Booked it through NHS Scotland site. Hopefully everyone hears over the next week or so x

Egghead68 · 22/09/2021 15:43

My occ health don’t know anything about it.

Egghead68 · 22/09/2021 15:58

Got one through the website! Thanks so much for posting it.

QuickieNCforthis · 22/09/2021 16:17

I'm a care home worker rather than NHS. Our older staff have all been able to book using that link but I'm in my 30s and can't book yet - we were all vaccinated at the hospital hub on the same day at the same time. The care home team are not vaccinating staff or residents this time and neither is the hospital (they aren't doing vaccines at all this time). We've been told we will have to take the residents at the end of the month to their GPs (3 different practices) and that we will be offered it through the GP.

Our older staff just got texts. The GP doesn't know what my job is so not sure how I will be invited. I've got to take my elderly parents for theirs at the local vaccination centre at the weekend (also offered by text) so I'm going to ask there if they know anything about how non nhs staff 6 months post vaccine and under 50 will be offered theirs.
