NHS staff - any news on your booster

itrustinvaccines · 16/09/2021 18:14

My DP is proper frontline Covid-facing patient care, no news on boosters from their NHS trust, who have no clue when or how the boosters are going to be given.

Not like the footage from Croydon hospital today.

Would DP be better trying their GP for the booster, or are GPs only doing the over 80s to start with.

Obviously the government are all about protecting the patients, but Covid-treating staff should be protected ASAP with their boosters, so they don't get Covid (again) or bring it home to their families.

So similarly placed staff - what is your trust's plan to get your booster to you?

Nothing from my trust yet but I got a text inviting me to book at a vaccination centre and I'm going tomorrow. My second dose was March

AnImposter · 22/09/2021 16:36

Mines in an hour :)

PomRuns · 22/09/2021 21:19

Starting next week where I work.

CovidCorvid · 22/09/2021 21:21

I’m having mine next week.

Lilliput · 22/09/2021 21:26

I'm in Scotland. Our occ health were waiting for the green light in boosters and appointments started to go out via text at the end of last week. I had flu vaccine in one arm and covid in the other yesterday 👍🏻

Mum2jenny · 22/09/2021 21:31

Ours are doing anyone who had 2nd booster mote than 6 months ago

gingercat02 · 22/09/2021 21:43

Starting Monday (27/9) based on date of your 2nd jab. Flu and Covid booster. Well pleased!

gingercat02 · 22/09/2021 21:46

I also had NHS text saying O could book last week but decided not to take up a "public" space and hoped they do a double at work. I got a Jan and March dose

Stopyourhavering64 · 22/09/2021 21:57

I'm NHS staff , and also clinically extremely vulnerable, (on methotrexate for autoimmune disease) so due 3rd dose rather than booster dose just now( will eventually be due booster vaccine as well )
Staff are being invited for booster dose now but no news of 3rd dose for CEV staff - have been told to wait to hear from my rheumatologist

nothankssheher · 22/09/2021 23:15

I work in a hospital; the staff slots for booster jabs filled up in minutes and there were none available when I checked (and re-checked and re-checked all week).

Fortunately, my local chemist was offering NHS flu jabs ( they have stock when Hospital / GP doesn't!) and I also had an email inviting me for COVID booster based on vulnerability. Am having it next week in our local vaccine centre ...... there are still no staff slots available at work.

wfrances · 22/09/2021 23:35

My daughter is nhs and booked in for next week

Egghead68 · 23/09/2021 13:52

Booster done through a community clinic (although they tried to tell me I was not eligible, despite being CEV, over 50 and a hospital worker).

The clinic was virtually empty. There was no queueing.

@QuickieNCforthis

I'm a care home worker rather than NHS. Our older staff have all been able to book using that link but I'm in my 30s and can't book yet - we were all vaccinated at the hospital hub on the same day at the same time. The care home team are not vaccinating staff or residents this time and neither is the hospital (they aren't doing vaccines at all this time). We've been told we will have to take the residents at the end of the month to their GPs (3 different practices) and that we will be offered it through the GP.

Our older staff just got texts. The GP doesn't know what my job is so not sure how I will be invited. I've got to take my elderly parents for theirs at the local vaccination centre at the weekend (also offered by text) so I'm going to ask there if they know anything about how non nhs staff 6 months post vaccine and under 50 will be offered theirs.

Just to update on this. Our care home was provided with a booking link to get our care staff's booster's done with the NHS staff at the local hospital so we have now been able to book. It was really hard for our manager to be given the link but we got there in the end.
Floralnomad · 23/09/2021 14:07

My sister is nhs and they are doing them from today but she had a text from the NHS and had already booked it for a local chemist on Saturday .

How have you been after that Lilliput? I can't decide if it will knock me for 6 too much having both!
choosername1234 · 24/09/2021 07:42

Covid booster & flu jab on the same day in my trust...sounds like a fun day Confused

TreaslakeandBack · 24/09/2021 07:46

I’m a vaccinator and we start on Monday- joint flu and booster (Pfizer) campaign. This is at a Gp hub.
Over 70s and health/ care staff are in the first cohort. I have mine organised for a week today. My parents are having theirs on Monday.

bruffin · 24/09/2021 08:55

DD is a vaccinator for NHS Wales and got her jab this week, same day as DH and DS got their flu jabs at work (not NHS)

gingercat02 · 24/09/2021 22:29

Booked double (booster and flu) for Wednesday

Lilliput · 24/09/2021 22:48

@Spaghettipie1 I have been absolutely fine. Annoying the first night as could get comfy sleeping on either side.
Both arms fine now. No other symptoms apart from tender injection sites.

Lilliput · 24/09/2021 22:54

Couldn't get comfy even.

latte101 · 24/09/2021 22:55

Got my booster sunday.

Due flu soon.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 24/09/2021 23:03

If you go onto the nhs Covid vaccine website you can book in at your local centre if you are an nhs worker.
