Greek holiday - unvaccinated guest. WWYD?

We’re due to fly on Saturday to a Greek island. There were six of us but one person has dropped out due to work and they’ve offered their place to a mutual friend, Sarah. Sarah isn’t vaccinated.

Current rules in Greece are that you can’t use indoor hospitality or public transport without recent test or proof of vaccine. Sarah has said she will stay in the villa when we go out to places like that.

I don’t want her to come as I think it ups the risk of all of us - data seems to say she has a 3x higher chance of testing positive than someone who is double vaccinated. I think it also impacts the group holiday and what we do. We’re staying rurally so if she stays at the villa there isn’t much she can do.

Am I being an arse about it? Some friends are saying they’re fine with it, others are saying they’re not sure.

What risk? You’re vaccinated. The only risk she poses is to vulnerable people who cannot be vaccinated.

And she seems willing to follow the rules in Greece, so it’s not a worry you’ll be fined for breaking Greek Covid regulations.

To be honest, to me it would depend on why she isn’t vaccinated. If she can’t be, fine. If she chooses not to be, I would be much less happy.

It feels like if she is more likely to catch it due to not being vaccinated then we are more likely to catch it from her whilst there.

Regardless of the whole vaccination thing, I don't think that's it on for the original guest to offer their place on without everyone else agreeing. I can also see that having someone who can't do some things could change the whole dynamic.

But where will she catch it from if she is isolating in a rural villa the whole holiday? She will be negative to get on a plane to get there.

It’s more likely you will pick it up while out, bring it back to the villa and give it to her. And of course she is at higher risk of hospital and death being unvaccinated than you are.

I wouldn’t. It’s going to change the dynamic of the holiday if you can’t all do things together. People might feel they have to stay behind to keep her company.

I'd be more worried that she was a conspiracy theorist and was going to bang on about sheeples.
In which case I might have to drown her. Which, you know, could spoil things a bit.

If someone has covid, they have Covid whether they are vaccinated or not.

You mention 3 times the risk... Would you be okay with holidaying with 8 double vaccinated people instead of 6 (that would be same risk level)?

It's gotten to the point where people are more scared of unvaccinated people without Covid than vaccinated people with Covid lol.

Do you even want Sarah on your holiday? I'd be unsettled if the holiday group changed last minute.

It won't be much fun for her surely?
She'll have to have negative tests to travel anyway so you'll know if she presents a risk to you.

She’s nice, doesn’t want the vaccine but that’s her choice.

I understand I’m wrong about there being more chance the rest of us will get it if she does, but I’m def concerned she will have a rubbish time or it’ll impact what we do/have planned etc

You actually can so your information is wrong . You need a negative test or a double vaccination to travel.

Surely it only impacts her holiday. I wouldn't mind but wouldn't adjust my holiday on her behalf or stay with her if she tested positive and was unable to fly home. Her choice after all.

I’m double jabbed myself but if I went away with a group of friends, I would need time to myself so it sounds like bliss to me!

Are you sure she won't be allowed into any venues, I've just been to Greece, no one checks if you're vaccinated when you enter resteraunts or bars, you only get checked at the airports, both sides.
I think she has to have a test before she goes and obtain proof of a negative result.
However, if any of your party tests positive whilst in Greece you will all have to isolate for 10 days in a greek isolation hotel.
You've all got the same chance of catching covid, just the double jabbed hopefully won't suffer as badly.
If it's any consolidation it felt very safe to travel, masks, sanitisers, planes not full to capacity

I highly doubt Greek restaurants will check people’s covid vaccination status.

If she’s happy to go and miss out on some things then let her. You’ve been vaccinated.
