Starting the term tomorrow with all staff ( about 250) in the school hall for INSET?

OP posts:
ButterflyBitch · 01/09/2021 18:24

Yep. Not too bothered though to be fair plus we have a lot less staff as small school.

AntiMaskersAreTwats · 01/09/2021 18:24

Worse! We’re starting with all the parents in the hall for coffee morning Confused

User5827372728 · 01/09/2021 18:25

@AntiMaskersAreTwats

Huh!! Wtf! Why?

OP posts:
AntiMaskersAreTwats · 01/09/2021 18:32

God only knows. Because we normally start each term that was and apparently ‘things are back to normal now’ Confused I honestly feel like I’m going mad - I’m still concerned and being cautious, wearing my mask etc. and everyone else if acting like Covid has gone.

AntiMaskersAreTwats · 01/09/2021 18:35

My DH had to attend a full graduation at his Uni tomorrow Confused packed venue -students, parents and then loads of staff which he has to sit with. It’s all going to be shitshow soon.

BitterTits · 01/09/2021 18:39

I imagine we will be the same. I can't think about it as I'm stuck - I need my income.

QueenHofScotland · 01/09/2021 18:50

You would think they would look at the disaster that is Scotland and pull back a bit

SkylarFerris · 01/09/2021 18:54

Yep my DS is back at school tomorrow. Yr11

KatherineOfGaunt · 01/09/2021 18:56

Yep, we had INSET today in the hall. Everyone sitting in the same room, facing each other, for 5 hours. I walked in wearing my mask and only about two others out of the 60 or so staff had them on.

It's okay, though; the windows were open.

LividLaVidaLoca · 01/09/2021 18:56

Yup.

250 staff in hall on Friday.

Masks haven’t even been mentioned yet so I’ll probably be the only loser wearing one.

QuarantineQueen · 01/09/2021 18:58

Yep. And whole school assembly planned for Monday with 800 kids and all staff packed in the hall like sardines. We are 'back to normal' apparently.

Eaumyword · 01/09/2021 19:02

Yes-INSET Friday where a Zoom wasn't appropriate apparently...
Head has also communicated to parents that we are going back to pre pandemic protocols in the school office and families are welcomed back in school.
Thanks for consulting with me on that - I'm the School Sec Hmm

LotLessBovver · 01/09/2021 19:08

Even better. We're going to be joining up with staff from other schools in the same academy chain.

What could possibly go wrong? Hmm

itsgettingwierd · 01/09/2021 19:10

No we are starting inset in classrooms.

That's fridays joy Grin although we've been told it's masks still on RA.

Veryverycalmnow · 01/09/2021 19:16

Depressingly, we have been having staff meetings all together throughout the pandemic.

Arsebucket · 01/09/2021 19:32

Ours has a coffee morning on Friday. All parents invited Confused

Um, no thanks.

BunsyGirl · 01/09/2021 19:40

We have a parents assembly tomorrow…mind you my whole office is returning next week (we’ve previously worked on a rota basis)…

MumofSpud · 01/09/2021 19:45

Yes - INSET today and tomorrow- all staff - 100+ - we were all sat facing at tables facing each other Hmm

mrshoho · 01/09/2021 19:47

Ours did today. Not quite 250 but still a complete change to last term when everything was via zoom. Head confirmed as well that anyone who lives with a covid positive case can still come to school following a negative pcr if double vaccinated. With an ending comment that he would expect us to take sensible precautions at home. Wtf should we do in our tiny home. Stupid stupid stupid.

User5827372728 · 01/09/2021 19:51

It’s really mad! Why risk us all getting covid in our hall with no bloody windows that open when realistically I wouldn’t need to be around 240 of those people on a day to day basis.

Whoever arranged such a shit show will be fucked if suddenly lots of their staff have covid and can’t come in for 10 days.

OP posts:
Squidlydoo · 01/09/2021 19:53

Not 250 but yep… all back to normal… two full days of inset with all staff. It felt quite nice but I will wait and see what happens as a result! I can’t see school closure due to loads of staff self isolating being popular with parents after one week!

TopTabby · 01/09/2021 20:00

We've all been in the same room on inset day today & yesterday for various pointless meetings. 30 plus people.
Guess what, somebody with a positive family member at home AND symptoms still came into work & has now tested positive.
Happy start of term!

User5827372728 · 01/09/2021 20:03

@TopTabby

What is wrong with people! Did they ‘only have a cough’?!

OP posts:
mrshoho · 01/09/2021 20:16

We had a helpful PowerPoint on handwashing and a threat about slt checking that windows and doors are open at all times. When someone commented that the bathrooms don't have windows (SEN school where students are changed at least twice a day) he waffled about not being in there for very long. Also showed some slides that no one could read apparently showing how low the transmission rates were proved to be from last term.

frozendaisy · 01/09/2021 20:29
