Has anyone managed to avoid it with a positive member of the household?

Ds has tested positive- he's single jabbed. Dh and I are double jabbed. DS is happy to keep to his room just as he would if he had flu or any other illness and is happy enough with a plentiful supply of food to his room Grin

Only one bathroom unfortunately.

Anyone else avoided it when a member of the family has it?

I had it last year, still shared a bed with dh and hugged my children. Nobody else got it which was a surprise!

SummerStressing · 27/08/2021 19:43

I’ve just had this same situation. It was DH that had it. He isolated from the morning that he tested and we are all fine touches wood. We have an en-suite so didn’t share a bathroom.

SummerStressing · 27/08/2021 19:44

I have a thread on it in the coronavirus topic as I was asking the same question ten days ago! Smile

MareofBeasttown · 27/08/2021 19:45

Yes. DS had it but had a separate bathroom..DH and I both double vaxxed and did not catch it. He did keep to his room.

Duckyneedsaclean · 27/08/2021 19:45

Husband and 8 year old had it, the other three children and me didn't. (Tested a few times over isolation).

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/08/2021 19:45

Is t it odd how it floors some people but others don't even get it? My friend has had it in her house 3 x so far and no one has passed it on despite not isolating.

Part of me just thinks fuck it but the other part thinks we should do the basics to avoid it without being hysterical.

I had it. Caught it from my step son. No one else in the house got it. Including my co sleeping toddler.

sleepyshiftworker · 27/08/2021 19:46

Also I'm the only person double jabbed at the time

dementedma · 27/08/2021 19:47

Yes, teen DS was double vaxxed and got it. We live in a small flst with one shared bathroom. None of the rest of us caught it

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/08/2021 19:47

Only one bathroom but well ventilated ,window always kept open and a spare loo.

I got it last Friday, DH tested positive yesterday. We haven't been careful though. We've been doing LFTs every day and DCs are still negative so far.

DilysPhyllis · 27/08/2021 19:47

Our 2 teens didn't get it when me, DH and DC3 had it. They spent a lot of time in their rooms (not unusual!), no hugs, kept distance etc. Windows open all the time. I still cooked for them etc but was careful with hygiene.

Mrsbclinton · 27/08/2021 19:48

I tested positive after one jab.

One other household member tested positive.
Three others didnt.
We used separate bathrooms & bedrooms but we weren’t overly strict.

PeonyTime · 27/08/2021 19:49

Yep, DS got covid (probably delta, as that was prevalent at the time), we opened the windows lots, banned him from cooking or unloading the dishwasher, and got in with it.
I ended up in bed with him a couple of times. Nobe of us got it -DS2 unjabbed, me single jabbed, DH double jabbed.

Vargas · 27/08/2021 19:49

Ds had it but was almost asymptomatic. None of the rest of the family got it. DH had antibody test a few weeks later just in case and was negative. We did not keep ourselves separate from him.

DD's friend shared a double bed for 4 nights with girl who tested positive a day later and didn't get it. Bonkers!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 27/08/2021 19:50

Yes. The other 3 members of my household had delta in May (PHE phoned us and told us it was the Indian variant). I was (just - within 2 weeks of covid coming into the house) single jabbed and didn’t get it. Despite actually cuddling covidy children and sharing a bed with covidy DH. DH was quite ill with it despite being vaccinated on the same day as me - his symptoms lasted for the entirety of his isolation period). The DC were ill for 48 hours and completely back to normal and climbing the walls within 4 days of symptoms starting.

Xmasbaby11 · 27/08/2021 19:50

Dd9 got it, and the rest of us didn't. We took pcr tests. We didn't try to isolate her - she has ASD and is very tactile. Dh and I are double jabbed but I was surprised dd7 didn't get it as they are thick as thieves!

DeathWinsAGolfish · 27/08/2021 19:50

I was in close contact with both DDs and DH, over 5 weeks last year when they were positive. I've had my antibodies checked and at no point have I been positive.
We carried on as normal within the household. Smile

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/08/2021 19:52

Ds is 20 so happy to be in his room, he can do without cuddles for 10 days Grin

How do people know if it's the Delta variant?

OP posts:
Beamur · 27/08/2021 19:53

DD had it at Christmas and we didn't catch it.

AlanisMorningShed · 27/08/2021 19:55

We have avoided cross spreading Covid in the household twice. Without any safety measures.

Then a long 9hr car journey the same day one of us later tested positive. (Through lft's and then pcr) . Then isolating together. Don't quite know how we avoided it tbh, thought it would be inevitable!

WeaningNewbiiee · 27/08/2021 19:56

Over Christmas my hubby, mother father and brother all caught it. me and my son are yet to catch it. Touch wood it'll stay that way.

absolutelynotcalm · 27/08/2021 19:56

I had it last year, dh and dd didn't catch it and I wasn't that careful. Really only stayed away from them for first few days.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/08/2021 19:57

I took ds for his test yesterday,he wore a mask and we had the windows wide open! I couldn't wear a mask as my glasses steamed up too much to be able to see and drive Grin

forgot to say, no one else in my household was vaccinated when I tested positive & I was getting loads of hugs before I realised my cold was covid!
