Has anyone managed to avoid it with a positive member of the household?

Ds has tested positive- he's single jabbed. Dh and I are double jabbed. DS is happy to keep to his room just as he would if he had flu or any other illness and is happy enough with a plentiful supply of food to his room Grin

Only one bathroom unfortunately.

Anyone else avoided it when a member of the family has it?

@CrunchyCarrot

Those of you who think you didn't get Covid - how can you be so sure? You may have had it asymptomatically. The only way you'll know you really didn't get it is by testing for antibodies. I thought I didn't catch it when my DP had it, but turns out I did. I just didn't know.
I did a lateral flow test at least every other day for 14 days after exposure. I work in health research and am up to date with current research on LFT sensitivity. The chances of being infected but it not showing up in at least one of those tests is vanishingly small.

Very clear message saying neither of us have to isolate which seems bonkers, we will be!

It is bonkers.

I think perhaps the government are gambling that we won't mind if the deaths and hospitalisations and people on ventilators numbers are lower on a daily basis than they were the last time 50,000 of us died.

But it's August, and we're already pretty much at the point we were when they put us into Tiers last October.

Isolating contacts helps reduce deaths and hospitalisations - so taking that away...is definitely bonkers.

All along the government have refused to do what us necessary to prevent transmission which has led to huge numbers of hospitalisations and deaths.

Doing the same thing over and over and over and over again - and expecting a different result is the very definition of bonkers.

Yeah, madnesses.

For whoever asked, pretty much all cases are Delta variant in the uk now - it’s safe to assume if you’ve got Covid that’s the strain you have,

It’s much more transmissible than the original alpha variant or the Kent one that started circulating around Xmas.

Distancing and ventilation are key

I had covid last week and carried on life as normal in the house, with 3 YO, 10 MO and DH. No one else got it

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 28/08/2021 15:52

Interesting about it being Delta, windows all open and ds happy in his room as long as food is taken up regularly 🤣

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor you’ll find as the days go on and you stay negative the regulatory of the snack and food requests will increase 🙄

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 28/08/2021 18:27

Yes, my student child didn’t catch it even when her housemate was quite ill with it, and there were five of them in the house with only one bathroom.

justmetoday · 28/08/2021 19:58

Yes, i have. DD kissed me on the mouth half a day before her positive test Confused
One day later DS tested positive and another few days DH as well.
I tested every few days, but was never positive.

FromEden · 28/08/2021 20:13

DH had it earlier in the month and neither me or DD caught it. I know for sure I didn't because I had an antibody test this week which was negative
