I’m going to have to cancel my holiday, I’m not classed as fully vaccinated.

We’ve booked a holiday for the end of September, as myself and DH are fully vaccinated we don’t have to quarantine on return.

My first vaccine was AstraZeneca and my second
was Pfizer.

I’ve read in the news tonight about the UK now changing their description of what counts as fully vaccinated, and it states that you have to have received two doses of the same vaccine.
(formerly two doses of any approved vaccine)

Im gutted. What does this mean for me in terms of freedom within the UK? If places start asking for proof of vaccination, will I be denied entry now?

If I’m not classed as fully vaccinated does this mean I don’t have good protection against Covid?!

Also… will I have to isolate if I have been in contact with a positive case??

Oh wow that's really shit, moving the goalposts like that!

What was the reason for the second vaccine being different? If it's a medical reason you may be able to get an exemption from your GP?

Synctfsi · 14/08/2021 22:51

@tedsletterofthelaw

Due to a history of blood clots it was decided that since I’m under 40, I would be given Pfizer as my second dose.

I thought they'd said they was for people vaccinated abroad and coming into Britain?
Still bonkers but hope you can sort it,

CoffeeRunner · 14/08/2021 22:52

How the hell did you get a second dose of a different vaccine?

I've been working at a vaccination centre since December. At no point has that been allowed.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 14/08/2021 22:53

We've been told that the protection is statistically better with dose 1 astra
and dose 2 Pfizer. DH was called earlier because he was willing to accept Astra and then offered either Pfizer or Astra as dose 2, same date but told that statistically mixing gives slightly better protection.

Postdatedpandemic · 14/08/2021 22:53

Can you get a second Pfizer one?

CoffeeRunner · 14/08/2021 22:54

The risk is associated with the first dose.

We would never ever give Pfizer as a second dose to AZ.

KihoBebiluPute · 14/08/2021 22:54

When did you have that second dose? If you aren't classified as fully vaccinated yet you can surely get a 2nd dose of Pfizer (3rd dose overall) and would then be fully vaccinated. Is there time to do that before September? They can't refuse you that further dose if you are officially classified as not yet fully vaccinated.

Synctfsi · 14/08/2021 22:54

@balzamico

It just says on entry to the UK so I assume that means anyone?

@CoffeeRunner

It was approved by my GP.

tedsletterofthelaw · 14/08/2021 22:54

Speak to your GP and see if you can get an exemption certificate if that's the case

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 14/08/2021 22:55

We're not in the UK. There's ridiculous oversupply of vaccine - nobody wants it, you can have anything you want as long as you're over 12 years old.

Synctfsi · 14/08/2021 22:55

Hmm

Okay… well I’ve had Pfizer following AZ.

The nurse administering said she’d done this before too.

GPs have no involvement in certifying Covid status to fly.

Did he mix?

Is there a link to a story? Not being today just having a minor panic

Goady not today lols

@KihoBebiluPute

I had the second dose in June.

On the NHS app it’s recognised as my second dose.

It says dose 2 of 2.

Synctfsi apparently that combination gives the best real protection against the virus. Shit for perks, good for not dying...

CoffeeRunner · 14/08/2021 22:58

It's so odd because the Pinnacle system that records all Covid vaccines will also have a problem with recording an incompatible second dose.

@mamakoukla

www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-quarantine-when-you-arrive-in-england

What counts as fully vaccinated
‘Fully vaccinated’ means you must have had a final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 whole days before you arrive in England.

The day you have your final dose does not count as one of the 14 days.

If you were vaccinated in 2 doses it must be with the same (MHRA, EMA, Swissmedic or FDA) approved vaccine. For example, if your first dose was Moderna your second dose must also be Moderna.

OP posts:
UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 14/08/2021 22:59

If it says 2 of 2 then you're fully vaccinated 🧐

FATEdestiny · 14/08/2021 23:00

Go to a drop in centre tomorrow and become fully vaccinated by having a second dose. 14 days on from then (still August) you will be fully vaccinated.

CoffeeRunner · 14/08/2021 23:01

Hang on. If the NHS app states you have had 2 doses of 2 what is this thread even about?

I was assuming it was not recognising your second dose.

LemonRoses · 14/08/2021 23:01

Ive had AZ then a Pfizer but am told it counts. Certainly work and NHS app is showing as such.
