Passenger Locator Form into UK

Just spent quite a long time filling it in only to find out that my airline will not allow me to check in until tomorrow unless I pay more to choose my seat.

At the end of the plf it says you have to specify the seat number if relevant and that if you get it after submitting your plf you have to START ALL OVER AGAIN, not edit it, but start again.

Do I really have to? (I know I sound like a whiny child, but the thought of starting this all over again tomorrow night is awful).

Interested to hear the answer, as I’ll need to complete one this week too and can only check in a day before.

Watapalava · 07/08/2021 14:18

I didn't add my seat number as i only checked in after i'd completed it - i'm sure i left it blank or it gives you an option what to put. i defo never added mine as you have to do PLF before check in with tui as they ask for PLF reference - i never did it again

Watapalava · 07/08/2021 14:20

just looked - seat number on plf is optional

Watapalava · 07/08/2021 14:22

not sure abut other airlines but you don't need to choose/pay seats - families are automatically seated together because of covid/track and trace rules so don't pay for seats!

Imtoooldforallthis · 07/08/2021 14:24

I returned from Spain on Wednesday checked in morning of flight, don't pay for allocated seating. Then did locator forms after.

Moonshine86 · 07/08/2021 14:24

Put the number in of the seats you flew out on

I'm flying with Ryan Air and I can either check in now involving paying for a seat or check in tomorrow and get a random seat and no charge. I'm travelling alone. I would be interested to know if families are allowed to not to have to pay to choose a seat, but I do! I presume you're not with Ryan Air.

I think it's optional in the sense that not everyone has one eg if you are travelling by car. At the ned of the plf I got a message that I must put in my seat number if I have one (I will have one eventually of course).

I didn't fly out. I'm flying INTO the UK.

I should obviously have done my plf after checking in, but it's too late for that now. I didn't realise Ryan Air wouldn't let me check in today. I tried to do it as I was doing the PLF, but found out this thing about the seats.

Imtoooldforallthis · 07/08/2021 14:44

I tried to start mine earlier and realised I couldn't do it so just came out of it and started again after I'd checked in.

Imtoooldforallthis · 07/08/2021 14:46

Just to add ryannair will ask to see your plf and your ltf test results even if you've uploaded them at check in.

That's not a problem. I'm doing a PCR not a LTF.

I've just been elsewhere and was asked for the plf on the first flight, but not on the way back so it depends with Ryan Air.
OP posts:
Gwenhwyfar · 07/08/2021 14:58

I would like to upload my plf when I check in so that's another argument for doing it in this order I suppose. The RA app did say you couldn't change the documents you upload (although I managed it with my last flight).

Flew out with ryannair and it showed on boarding pass, flew back and again showed on boarding pass but also asked to see at gate, that was from Alicante.

Imtoooldforallthis · 07/08/2021 15:00

You can check in and add your plf after.

MajesticWhine · 07/08/2021 15:51

I've done my form and left seat number blank (flying tomorrow, BA). I've no plans to fill the form again so will watch with interest.

loopsngeorge · 07/08/2021 16:01

Put anything in, we had to change our seats when we got on the plane anyway as there were so few people and they needed to rebalance it.

Let me know on here if you get any problems with it.

The form still works if you leave it blank, there's just a message that you have to include. I presume it's for testing and tracing, but Ryan Air will know where I sat.

Watapalava · 07/08/2021 16:12

You can add seat if you have one

You haven’t so you can’t

With tui when you check in online you have to add your PLF reference so you can’t do plf afterwards

Just leave it blank

Watapalava · 07/08/2021 16:12

If travelling alone why book away at all? Surely it makes so difference where you sit? Not enough to pay aurely

getmeavodka · 07/08/2021 16:13

I came back last week with BA and left mine blank too. Was not an issue still went through

Exactly, that's why I'm not booking a seat.
