My sister had her neice for a sleepover 2 days ago and niece has tested positive today.

Is it very likely sis will get it? She is fully vaccinated.

My double vaxxed SIL caught it from her 19yo.

Merriwicks · 25/07/2021 23:41

I was single vaxxed when my 4 year old had covid, my dh had no vaccines and none of us got it. We tested twice after she tested positive . But delta wasn't a thing then

jumpbounce · 25/07/2021 23:57

Family member who is vaccinated caught covid last week, passed on to 2 other fully vaccinated family members.

daisydalrymple · 26/07/2021 00:04

Still waiting to find out…
DS1 is 14, tested positive Saturday.
Me,,DH and ds2 had Covid at Christmas. I’ve had one jab, DH has had both.
We’re all waiting to see if we get it now. Ds1 and dd both avoided it at Christmas when we got it.

buckleten · 26/07/2021 00:04

Both me and my dh caught it from my daughter a couple of weeks ago- both fully vaccinated. I had barely any symptoms but he was quite unwell, thankfully a bit better now. My other (unvaccinated) dc didn't catch it!

Jins · 26/07/2021 00:08

Both DC had it 3/4 weeks ago and neither DH nor I caught it. Both double jabbed with AstraZeneca and second jab well over 4 weeks before exposure

HighHighHopes · 26/07/2021 00:11

DD and DS got Covid approx 6 weeks ago.

I didn't get it (double jabbed). Surprised as I didn't distance from them at all. We just carried on as normal and stayed in the house for 10 days.

CrocodilesCry · 26/07/2021 00:14

Do just bear in mind that lots of double vaccinated people will have been in contact with Covid+ people without knowing and won't have caught it.
Hope she is ok. If she has picked it up from her niece, her chances of being extremely poorly are small.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 26/07/2021 00:21

DP was double vaccinated when the DC and I got it. He didn't distance from us at all as we needed looking after, and I was almost surprised he didn't catch it.

Beamur · 26/07/2021 00:24

Three of my friends. All fully vaccinated. One caught it at work, did not pass it on to either of the other friends. All close contacts.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 26/07/2021 00:38

DS tested positive 3 weeks ago and nobody else has tested positive. We didn't distance from him at all as he's only a toddler.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 26/07/2021 00:38

Sorry I meant to ass that dh and I are both double vaxxed.

Abraxan · 26/07/2021 10:22

I had Covid in October.

We did not SI at home and Dh still slept in same bed as me, bar two days when I was in hospital. Teen Dd was around the whole time. At the time none of us were vaccinated.

Neither Dh nor Dd got symptoms or tested positive. Dd has since done an antibody test abd hasn't had Covid.

Ultimatecougar · 26/07/2021 10:24

My daughter had Covid recently, assume it was Delta. I'm double vaccinated with AZ and didn't catch it - negative PCR even though we didn't really bother with trying to keep her separate from the rest of us.

Chillychangchoo · 26/07/2021 10:27

No and I was sitting next
to my brother who tested positive for hours at a family occasion. Regular LFT and PCR due to work and it’s come back negative.

Wanttocry · 26/07/2021 10:27

My friend (double vaccinated) tested positive two weeks ago. He lives with his elderly mother who is also double vaccinated, and vulnerable, and she didn’t catch it.

TattyDevine · 26/07/2021 10:30

We have not caught it from DD.

We kept her on a separate floor with the windows open as they tend to be at this time of year. She'd come downstairs for meals in the garden but was basically self isolating within the home which is quite spacious.

Being summer we weren't doing things like cuddling up on the sofa in front of a film with the fire on etc which I think helps.

We are out of isolation today and all testing negative on lateral flows.

Wooollffff · 26/07/2021 10:32

DD2’s flatmate and best friend, who she spends a lot of time with had it
recently. DD was fine even though they had both had 1 jab only. They had even shared a drink the night before. Another friend who also drank from the glass did catch it. It really depends if you had immunity by perhaps coming into contact with it previously.

weekend2021 · 26/07/2021 10:32

My 90 year old Mum (double vaccinated, in a care home) tested positive the day after myself and father had visited her (including hugs, kisses etc) Father and I both double vaccinated but didn’t get it again (had both had it last year) Fortunately Mum recovered.

newlabelwriter · 26/07/2021 10:33

Family member caught it from her DS - double vaccinated.

ruumis · 26/07/2021 10:48

Both d.c and dh got covid but I didn't. Dh had had one jab and I was double jabbed since May.

starfish4 · 26/07/2021 11:12

DD was unfortunate enough to have contact with three different people on the same day, two people in the afternoon for approx 2 hours in small room and one person from different friendship group 2-3 hours later in pub. She wasn't vaccinated and didn't catch anything (had PCR, did LFTs and had no symptons)

starfish4 · 26/07/2021 11:15

Forgot to say, but I guess she knows as a contact she can have a PCR test. It won't stop isolation but that alongside LFTs will hopefully put her mind at rest.

Bythemillpond · 26/07/2021 11:19

Not vaxxed but had what I think was Covid end 2019beginning 2020

I was around a friend (single vaxed) for a couple of days who then tested positive.
I didn’t get it. I had to isolate but all tests came back Negative

Amboseli · 26/07/2021 11:24

@starfish4 your DD should be studied by the scientists! She may have natural immunity that could be bottled and given to the rest of us!
