My sister had her neice for a sleepover 2 days ago and niece has tested positive today.

Is it very likely sis will get it? She is fully vaccinated.

Yes I have and no I didn't catch it,

HelloMissus · 26/07/2021 11:39

My DD shared a bed and a water bottle with someone who tested positive the next day.
Took two tests herself and nada.

Chickenqueen · 26/07/2021 11:40
@starfish4 your DD should be studied by the scientists! She may have natural immunity that could be bottled and given to the rest of us!
I think my boyfriend is one of these! 6 of us on a table in a pub, 5 got it including me (double vaxxed), boyfriend with single vax didn't get it and even though we shared a bed throughout my symptoms, he still didn't get it!

OrangeBananaFish · 26/07/2021 11:48

DH double vaccinated tested positive today, he's had cold like symptoms since Friday, but has been negative on LFT until now. He got it off me (positive last Monday, but now testing negative on LFT).

DS and DD1 also both positive. DD2 still remains negative on LFT and has no symptoms.

I've had one vaccine so far, the DCs have had none - too young.

Drivingbuttercup1 · 26/07/2021 11:51

Ds7 got it, didnt isolate from us. None if us got it. Dp and i have had 1 dose

BlueSurfer · 26/07/2021 11:52

I haven’t but several others have.

Getawaywithit · 26/07/2021 11:54

Yep. One of my children got it and now we all have it. It’s not great but could be worse

user1477249785 · 26/07/2021 12:02

My DS had a friend over to sleep who tested positive on the day they went home. None of us caught it from him. I was single vaxed at the time and DS was unvaccinated.

RuthW · 26/07/2021 12:06

I live in the same house as dd. She got it and I didnt. I was single jabbed. We did take precautions once we knew.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 26/07/2021 12:08

Who are these people sharing drinks with people. I would never do that even if we weren't in the middle of a raging pandemic!

rooarsome · 26/07/2021 12:08

I have and haven't yet caught it (double jabbed)

Maladicta · 26/07/2021 12:48

Double-vaxxed dh has caught it from our dcs, I haven't (so far...) We have been socially distancing in the house.

Smartiepants79 · 26/07/2021 12:51

My DH tested positive. We’d been ‘cuddling’ the day before. Grin
I didn’t catch it and neither did either of our kids.
I’d had one vaccine at the time.
Nobody can really tell you the answer to this question! She might she might not! 🤷🏼‍♀️

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/07/2021 13:13

I didn't catch it, this was before I was jabbed. Spent hours with MIL and in the car as well. Two episodes of close contact, one was a day before symptoms developed and another time when she was symptomatic and coughing-I didn't catch it, neither did DH. The kids may have done I suppose, but they had no symptoms and I didn't test them.

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/07/2021 13:14

This was the Alpha variant.

Abouttimemum · 26/07/2021 13:18

I’m double vaxed and got it from my husband (who is also double vaxed) although we do live together so much more likely!

Scottishmummy12 · 26/07/2021 13:30

I never caught it when my mum had it in October and I was providing her with a lot of care. I wasn't vaccinated at the time.

fresiaboquet · 26/07/2021 14:50

my daughter has had covid twice (confrimed with positive pcr) once at Christmas and once a couple of weeks ago. I didnt get it either time (not vaccintaed at Chsristmas, but now double vaxed)
DD didnt isoalte from us at home and during Christmas especially we spent a lot of time in close onctact (eg snuggled on the sofa watching chritmas films etc...)

TattyDevine · 26/07/2021 15:17

There's a few parents on our class WhatsApp group double vaxxed and just caught it from the recent outbreak so it can obviously happen.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/07/2021 15:30

Only 29000 people in the country who have been double vaxxed have contracted covid but of course on MN every knows someone in this position.

They might still get covid but it's not inevitable.

Maladicta · 26/07/2021 15:49

In the family, 17yo ds2 was affected the most - he had the classic symptoms. His younger brother, 13, has had a slight headache, dh has been snuffly with a mild sore throat.

Anyonebut · 26/07/2021 15:53

How old is niece? If niece is a young child, contagion is less likely than if she’s an adult.

TheTallOakTrees · 26/07/2021 16:02

My friend's future son in law single vaccinated has it and his not vaccinated family have it. My friend and her daughter both double vaccinated don't have it, they are currently isolating.
Quite a lot of spread in area in children and young people. Number of cases more than ever before but hospital is fine. At least people are not needing hospital

TattyDevine · 26/07/2021 18:33

True FourTea

Also in our age group like me, when my daughter got it I was only a week and a half into my 2nd jab, though I didn't get it. Some will have also just had it (the 2nd jab) being a similar age or younger than me (why is nearly everyone younger than me!)

DH is well into his 2nd jab and didn't get it. Other parents didn't get it too so a bit of a mix.

I have to say the 11 year olds did a damn fine job of giving it to each other 🙄😆

goldenlilliesdaffodillies · 26/07/2021 18:59

I don't want to tempt fate..but.. teenage DC caught it. I managed not to and neither did the other 2 family members. I was very careful wearing masks and leaving meals outside DC's door and obsessive hand washing etc. I had 1 jab. DC was around loads of people before testing positive- most of her friends had been jabbed and didn't get it either. I assume this was the delta variant.
