If you're still mask wearing, when will you stop?

Do you have a 'line in the sand'?

Depending on what happens with numbers and variants- I'm thinking 'once all adults have had the chance to be double vaxxed'.

I won't I have to wear One in work and will carry on in shops to

loooopdeloop · 26/07/2021 23:54

Wow! Just wow at those that are happy to wear a mask forever 🤦🏻‍♀️

PickAChew · 27/07/2021 00:04

I'm not "happy" to wear a mask but about 1 in 100 people have covid, where I live, so will put up with it for a while longer.

@CaptainMyCaptain

I think the Japanese (and some other countries) have the right idea, wearing a mask when they have a cold to protect others. I don't mind wearing one, I could carry on for a long time.
I agree. Why do people make it such a big deal? I will also wear as long as needed to protect my mum - she is very old.
Blondiney · 27/07/2021 01:45

I was pleasantly surprised to see the majority wearing masks in my local M&S today.

MeanderingGently · 27/07/2021 02:54

I think I will keep my masks forever. In many Asian countries it's seen as normal, can't see why it can't be regular here too.

I'm not expecting others to keep theirs, but I feel more comfortable in a mask in a crowded place, it protects others but I'd like to think there's a small amount of protection for me too. Certainly on buses, in shops, in other crowded places, on the tube/train. I shall be keeping my gloves on too when I go to the supermarket. I always hated touching the trolleys that everyone else has handled, and that was well before COVID.....

I've noticed every day since it's become optional less people wear masks. Last week on the Tram there were a few people distanced and had to wear masks. Yesterday on the prom they were rammed with people who couldn't move and only a couple wearing masks.

I am noticing the opposite, more mask wearing indoors AND outdoors.
Misspacorabanne · 27/07/2021 07:27

When more people (including myself) have had their second vaccine. Feel much safer wearing one while cases are so high.

GoldenOmber · 27/07/2021 07:45

In Scotland, so they’re still mandatory and will be “for some time to come” apparently. So I’m guessing by the time they become recommended rather than compulsory we’ll have hit a point where everyone who wants to will have had two vaccine doses and cases will be much lower. In which case, I won’t be wearing one unless a particular shop or whatever asks people to.

I really don't see the issue. Of all the restrictions, wearing a mask rates - for me - as one of the least inconvenient.

I think the issue is that not everybody is you, and therefore things which are absolutely minor totally fine no bother at all to you are more than that to some other people.

Rosti1981 · 27/07/2021 08:30

I'm happy to wear one longer term too when indoors and there are crowds. That said I recognise I'm in a privileged position as this only realistically equates to a few minutes (under 30 mins) every day in general, so it really isn't a big deal for me. If I had to wear one for hours on end I might feel differently. But for short train journeys / popping into shops etc it's not a bit deal

Rosti1981 · 27/07/2021 08:32

*big deal

And again I will stress "for me". As I recognise others feel differently.

Wakip · 27/07/2021 08:36

I think I will be keeping mine around forever in some capacith, I've found my hay-fever much better this year wearing a mask outside and I've found wearing it helps me when I'm feeling very socially anxious.

Asherline · 28/07/2021 04:10

@SpringRainbow what area are you from? I thought thats how it would be (most people always wearing masks) judging by people's comments of how essential facemasks were so quite shocked how such a small number of people wear them now it's optional
