Be honest, if you felt slightly ill on holiday would you get tested or just get on with it?

Inspired by the thread of a poster's child testing positive

Tested. Without a doubt. It’s the only responsible answer.

ComtesseDeSpair · 21/07/2021 21:00

If the symptoms were classic Covid then I’d test. Otherwise, I’d just get on with it: I have done all year. I know some people have spent the past year testing whenever they’ve felt remotely off-colour with anything from a headache to nausea to diarrhoea, but it hasn’t occurred to me to do so.

lughnasadh · 21/07/2021 21:02

I'd just get on with it.

User5827372728 · 21/07/2021 21:02

We tested on hol, luckily came back negative the next morning

AnotherDayAnotherCake · 21/07/2021 21:05

Any of the 3 symptoms? Then yes I would get a PCR.
Lateral flow testing on holiday or just feeling a bit poorly? No.

UmteenthUser · 21/07/2021 21:10

Only with the 3 symptoms that you are meant to test with, we would be in our own caravan anyway so would just tow it home

inmyslippers · 21/07/2021 21:13

Depends on symptoms

Overthebow · 21/07/2021 21:43

I’d test if any of the three main symptoms. I wouldn’t for anything else, just get on with it. Same as at home too.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 21/07/2021 21:57

Absolutely test, wouldn’t everyone want to spread it to others who could be vulnerable.

TooWicked · 21/07/2021 22:01

Honestly, I think I'd just get on with it. I'm surrounded by people who have spent the past year testing (negative) for the slightest little thing, it's just something I've never thought to do.

Lemonmelonsun · 21/07/2021 22:14

Yes, when we go away we will also take some lat flows with us, do a test mid week anyway and certainly if anyone feels unwell because we would need to leave and get home m

Backofbeyond50 · 21/07/2021 22:17

If classic Covid symptoms yes

Darbs76 · 21/07/2021 22:19

I’ve got Covid now but if we go away in august (undecided) I’d absolutely have my Kid tested. I’m double jabbed and feel dreadful, as does DS (17). I wouldn’t intentionally pass this on. Reading what I do on here though it’s no wonder the U.K. is in the mess it is as people just make up their own rules for their own convenience.

BoaCunstrictor · 21/07/2021 22:19

Slightly ill, I'd get on with it.

XenoBitch · 21/07/2021 22:20

Get on with it. The only holidays I have had recently have been caravan ones with visits to beaches/beauty spots.

user1487194234 · 21/07/2021 22:24

Get on with it

UmteenthUser · 21/07/2021 22:26

I would want to come home if I felt ill anyway as I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself and go out, it was bad enough when I just had a migraine for a day in the caravan.

Bobholll · 21/07/2021 22:32

Depends what you mean by slightly I’ll really. I often feel slightly ill with heyfever, summer isn’t all that fun for me! I have daily headaches, cold like symptoms, sneezing, streaming eyes. I don’t test myself on a regular basis!

If I had those symptoms, I’d carry on. If I got a cough, fever or felt much worse then yes, I’d test..

Bobholll · 21/07/2021 22:32

*ill

CornishPastyDownUnder · 21/07/2021 22:33

yep i would totally get on with it..if i got tested everytime i had a twinge or mild headache 🤯..Disclaimer: I live in an area of Oz with under5 covid cases since it all started last yr so no-one really thinks too much about it but in your shoes id take a couple ibru&drink a bit of water-like you wouldve done in 2019😉

blameitonthecaffeine · 21/07/2021 22:36

If I thought it might be covid, yes; I'd get a PCR. But random testing for feeling a bit generally ill, no, I wouldn't.

Florabella · 21/07/2021 22:37

Depends on which one of us had symptoms. My younger daughter, i would just carry on as it's a regular occurrence. Literally every 2-3 weeks. Anyone else in the family then I would test

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 21/07/2021 22:37

I will take lat flow tests with me for just this reason.

CatherineMorland · 21/07/2021 22:39

Test. Without a doubt.

YesThisIsMe · 21/07/2021 22:42

I’d LFT test, and PCR test if LFT was positive or if symptoms were very strongly suggestive of Covid. Knowledge is power.
